Chapter 4282: New... Something
That same day, Rean got to the Arrays Guild, which had a branch in the Wangamiglia Sect. Normally, there would be a test for new Array Masters to join it. However, that rule only applied to the vast majority of cultivators who were born in the Celestial Plane. The ascenders who wanted to work with Arrays almost always had prior experience with similar work back in their Home Great Voids. That said, those tests didn’t make much sense.
Instead, they were only asked to complete a questionnaire on an array-related topic and then show something they could do; any array would work.
Rean already looked into the Arrays, which were basically formations, but with some different runes. He even built an Array Trap during the last mission.
Back in the Vinx Great Void, formations with origin in the Celestial Plane were called Legendary Level Formations.
Here, obviously, there was no such thing. The categorization was simply done through levels. Rean quite liked it. Level one, two, three, and so on. There weren’t even sub-categorizations, like Initial, Middle, Late, or whatever. They were either at one level or another, period. It was up to the Array Masters to judge which Array was better when they were at the same level.
Rean opted to build a quick Elemental Flow Array that could redirect a specific element to the center of the Array. Many of the runes he used were actually Formation Runes from back in the Vinx Great Void, but they worked just fine with the Array Runes in the Celestial Plane.
After confirming his Array worked, the guild added him to the Guild’s System, and Rean’s own ID now contained the information that he was a member.
However, although there were no tests like what cultivators of the Celestial Plane would get when they joined, ascenders were still considered just Level One Array Masters. Rean was no different. If Rean wanted to be considered a higher-level Array Master, then he would indeed have to pass the guild’s tests.
After finishing registering, Rean took the opportunity to ask. "Are there any benefits for higher-level Array Masters, or is it just an identification?"
"Of course, there are," the woman who finished Rean’s registration process said. "First of all, the materials’ price. You can receive a discount when buying the materials from the guild according to your level. Starting with level two, you receive a 5% discount. Then you have 10% discount at Level Three and Four."
"What about the next levels?" Rean asked, curious.
The woman shook her head. "I believe they would get another 5 or 10% discount, but I’m not sure. There are no Level Five Array Masters in the Besgol Region. In fact, we only have one Level Four Array Master, senior Tobao."
Rean definitely recognized the name. That was the monk, and also one of the only two Law God Realm experts in the Besgol Region. "A cultivation limit, uh?"
The woman confirmed. "Yes. Level Four Arrays require the manipulation of laws, and such a thing is only possible at the Law God Realm."
Rean took the chance to check the requirements for Level Two Arrays and gave up vying for that title. The runes of the Level Two Arrays required one to control energy outside their bodies, and Anchor Gods definitely couldn’t do that.
The woman continued. "Another advantage of being a higher-level Array Master is that you can participate in better projects. Once again, it is a cultivation limitation, so some projects have no use for Level One Array Masters."
"Last but not least, the higher your level, the better the jobs you can get. Array Masters are in high demand, as just knowledge isn’t enough. Talent with rune crafting is a big thing here, so you definitely should try to reach the next level at least."
Rean nodded. "Thank you for the explanation, friend. That is a very straightforward system."
"It has to be," the woman added. "The Celestial Plane is too dangerous; a region can be wiped out at any moment. If we complicate matters, like retaining fundamental knowledge, we won’t last much longer. The system has to be simple, and the help the guild provides has to be just as easy to get."
"Oh, right," the woman also showed Rean another thing. "As a member of the Arrays Guild, you will be required to do some volunteer work when necessary. It is mostly helping with the maintenance and rebuilding of Arrays after Godly Creature Hordes, but it might be something else, too. Keep that in mind. Naturally, the Guild will provide the material for those tasks."
Rean didn’t mind. If anything, he would be happy to help in that regard. "Very well. Where should I go if I want to find schematics to build an airplane?"
"An airplane?" The woman was taken aback. "Well, as a member, you now have access to almost everything in the Guild’s system. Just check the network or go to the Arrays Repository. Only a few more restricted and dangerous pieces of knowledge are blocked for good reason. If you want to build an airplane, you can likely find everything there. It’s just..."
"Just what?" Rean asked back.
"The materials..." the woman finally explained. "They are quite expensive, especially the metal alloys that can conduct the Celestial Energy. Also, you will need Level Two Array Runes, so it will be hard for you to get them as a Level One Arrays Master."
Rean narrowed his eyes. The metals wouldn’t really be that big of an issue. Next time they go out, Rean can ask Kentucky to keep his senses sharp for any rare metal underground. A Minokawa was really useful for that. Even if the metals and ores he finds aren’t good for the airplane, he can simply trade them for the right ones later. The big issue was indeed the Level Two Array Runes. He can’t make them with his cultivation level.
Rean couldn’t help but think about Zangeshu. "I need a new Array Slav- Ahem... I mean, I need a new helper."
The woman’s mouth twitched. Rean was definitely going to say slave. "That’s a very weird concept of helper you have there."
"Hahaha!" Rean laughed as he walked out. "It was a joke, just a joke. Anyway, I’m going to the Arrays Testing ground to take a look at the amazing prospects there. Maybe I can target the kids in the Repository too... Well, that’s basically it. Thank you for your help. Goodbye."
The woman couldn’t help but feel sad for whoever was going to become Rean’s target.
