Chapter 4606: The Clash
If even the twins could barely understand what was happening to their own bodies, then Doluno had even less of a chance of figuring it out. As he prepared to use his Blazing Sun Fist on the twins once again, he suddenly noticed strange, fluid-like energy emanating from their bodies. A light red aura surrounded Rean, while a deep navy-blue energy enveloped Roan, both of them constantly shifting as if they were alive.
Before Doluno could make sense of it, that energy changed form around the twins. Rean suddenly grew a pair of fox ears on top of his head, while three tails emerged behind him. At the same time, two navy-blue wings spread from Roan’s back, accompanied by two distinctive tail feathers.
Of course, there was absolutely no time for anyone to stop and appreciate or understand what the hell was happening. Doluno certainly didn’t hesitate, nor did he slow down his attack because of the changes. Rean and Roan could only accept the changes as they came and immediately raised their Elemental Intent Weapons to counter him.
*ZIU, ZASH, BANG!*
The twins clashed head-on with Doluno, and for a brief moment, the three of them reached a stalemate. Fire Laws and Fire Element burst violently from Doluno’s side, spreading through the battlefield as his overwhelming power pushed against the twins.
At the same time, a strange mixture of Dark Red Lightning, Light Red Lightning, Navy Blue Water Element, and Fiery Fire Element erupted from Rean and Roan. It was a pure combination of Yin and Yang energies and elements, yet the different powers somehow worked together perfectly because of the twins’ connection.
The changes in their bodies weren’t merely superficial, either. Rean could feel an incredible amount of power flowing through him, while Roan’s newly formed wings responded naturally to his thoughts despite having never existed on his body before.
To anyone watching from the outside, it looked as though two enormous comets had collided with a blazing sun. The twins and Doluno remained locked together, their respective energy tails stretching far into the distance as the surrounding trees and ground were battered by the shockwaves.
However, the stalemate lasted only a few seconds.
*KABOOM!*
In the end, Rean and Roan were overwhelmed by Doluno’s superior power, and both twins were sent flying backward like bullets. Whatever Luxa and Lunelle had done had clearly increased their strength several times, but it still wasn’t enough to completely bridge the cultivation gap. After all, Doluno possessed the power of a Peak Stage Law God even after being weakened by the Yin Yang Sanctuary, while the twins still couldn’t use their Laws.
*Shin, Zin!*
Rean reacted quickly. He plunged both of his Elemental Intent Swords into the ground and used the enormous friction to slow himself down. At the same time, fiery red energy claws had formed over both his feet. They dug deep into the earth as he slid backward, leaving a long trench behind him.
Roan had a completely different experience.
His pair of navy-blue wings instinctively spread wide, allowing him to stabilize himself in midair. His expression changed slightly as he realized what had happened.
He was flying.
And for the first time in his life, he was doing so without relying on his cultivation. Flying in the real sense of the word.
Only now did Rean and Roan have enough time to look at themselves properly. They glanced at each other for a moment, both seeing the same strange transformation reflected on the other.
Rean now looked like a hybrid between a fox and a human, with his three tails swaying behind him, while Roan had become something closer to a hybrid between a bird and a human, his navy-blue wings stretching behind him alongside his two tail feathers.
*Cough, cough, cough...*
The twins suddenly coughed out blood. There were even tiny pieces of damaged organs mixed in with it. Yet neither paid much attention to their injuries. What had just happened was far more shocking.
’So much power!’ Rean couldn’t help but exclaim through their connection.
Roan obviously felt the same. ’Indeed, but we can think about it later. Focus!’
The twins immediately shifted their attention back toward Doluno.
Yet before they could even prepare for his next attack, another change occurred.
*Flug, flug, flug, flug...*
The strange energy surrounding their bodies suddenly disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. Luxa and Lunelle emerged from Rean and Roan’s bodies in their energy forms before rapidly returning to their material forms.
However, both Eternal creatures were now completely exhausted.
The enormous burst of power they had given the twins had clearly come at a considerable price. Their bodies were so drained that they could barely remain conscious.
Rean and Roan immediately caught them, placing Luxa and Lunelle on their shoulders before carefully holding them in place. They were surprised by what had happened, but not completely shocked. After all, whatever ability the Eternal Day Fox and Eternal Night Raven had used had clearly consumed a tremendous amount of their energy.
The twins’ attention quickly returned to the battlefield.
Doluno had been delayed for only a few seconds, but he was definitely coming again.
*Bang!*
Doluno shot forward, his expression looking increasingly close to madness. The clash against the twins had worsened his already horrific injuries, and at this point, he looked more dead than alive. Blood continued pouring from his body, while the remaining Region God blood and his life force barely kept him moving.
Yet Doluno refused to stop.
He had already decided to take the twins down with him, especially after what he saw happening in front of his eyes. Even he didn’t know the Eternal Day Fox and the Eternal Night Raven could do such a thing.
’Voltari Thunder Bolt!’
*KABRUMMM!!!*
Too bad for him, though.
Those few seconds were exactly what Aurundi needed to recover from his initial clash with Doluno and return to the battlefield. The timing couldn’t have been better. Doluno’s senses had already become severely impaired from his injuries, exhaustion, and the constant strain on his body.
He never noticed Aurundi returning behind him.
The Voltari Thunder Bolt struck Doluno directly in the back without any defense in place.
*Arrrghhhh!!!*
Doluno let out a horrific scream. The injuries across his body suddenly flared open as the Lightning Laws and Element contained within Aurundi’s attack ravaged his body. The little energy Doluno still possessed was instantly disrupted and dispersed.
His movement came to a complete stop.
Arcs of lightning sparked across his body as he remained frozen in place for a moment. Then, finally, the last flame of life within Doluno was extinguished.
His body fell forward.
*Tud!*
As Doluno’s body hit the ground, the red bloodline runes that had spread throughout the surroundings began disappearing one after another. With those runes vanishing, Sister Orb immediately sensed the change and warned the twins.
[It is back. You can enter the Great Void now.]
At this point, however, the information was hardly useful anymore.
There was no longer any reason to escape.
*Tud, tud...*
Rean and Roan were completely exhausted as well. Their bodies finally gave in, and both dropped to their knees while gasping for breath. Luxa and Lunelle were in no better condition on their shoulders. The two Eternal creatures could barely hold themselves upright, their exhausted bodies almost sliding off the twins.
Roan, however, hadn’t forgotten about the other two Law Gods. "Aurundi, the other two Law Gods! Don’t give them a chance to recover their energy!"
Aurundi immediately moved toward the exit of the barrier array. That was where Doluno had escaped from, but it was also the entrance to the area where Krava and Tapoqi had been left behind.
Unfortunately, he was too late.
Both of them had already disappeared.
It wasn’t difficult to guess how they had escaped. They possessed airplanes equipped with Light Bending Array Plates, allowing them to disappear from sight. When Doluno attacked the twins, no one had the time or attention to keep track of those two.
The only thing that was certain was that Krava and Tapoqi had no energy left to fight after Celis drained them completely dry. They had most likely fled the moment they realized Doluno wouldn’t make it. Doluno sacrificed for them, so they couldn’t just die there.
Aurundi’s core sparked with lightning for a moment. He was clearly irritated. Without another choice, he returned to where the others were waiting. He went straight toward Rean and Roan, his lightning flickering around his core. "They’re gone."
Kentucky, Celis, Kachia, and Lukay were already there as well. However, none of them seemed particularly interested in the escaped Law Gods anymore.
Instead, they were looking at Luxa and Lunelle with very curious expressions.
Roan narrowed his eyes while Light Element continued circulating through his body. His Instant Recovery was steadily mending his broken bones and other injuries, although his recovery was noticeably slower than Rean’s.
Rean, on the other hand, managed to get back onto his feet much faster. He was obviously far more experienced with controlling his own Instant Recovery Skill.
Roan’s Elemental Intent Scythes disappeared as he looked toward the barrier array. "Tch... The idea was to kill all three, but two of them escaped in the end anyway."
Aurundi’s core flickered with irritation. "After everything that happened, be happy that no one on our side died!"
He then floated closer to Roan, the lightning surrounding his core becoming noticeably more agitated. "Also... you’d better give me a good explanation! I haven’t forgotten what you did!"
Roan ignored Aurundi’s anger. Instead, he picked Lunelle down into his arms and began pouring Yin Energy into her body. For Lunelle, Yin Energy was the best medicine possible. She wasn’t actually injured; she was simply completely drained.
While treating her, Roan finally addressed Aurundi’s complaint. "We needed something unexpected to catch Doluno off guard. Besides, don’t try to fool me. We both know you wouldn’t die from a single clash against another Law God."
Aurundi’s lightning sparked sharply around his core.
Roan glanced toward Doluno’s corpse before continuing. "Besides, we didn’t use you so we could escape alive. We all fought as well. All of us were sharing the same risks here."
Aurundi obviously didn’t like that explanation in the slightest. "You could have just told me to attack then! Fuck! For a moment, I felt like I was nothing more than some sacrificial item!"
Rean couldn’t hold back his laughter. He was also holding Luxa in his arms, carefully pouring Yang Energy into her exhausted body. "Hahaha! Senior Aurundi, it’s fine, it’s fine! Let’s not dwell on the small details."
Aurundi’s core flickered violently. "Small details... your ass! Forget it! I don’t even want to think about that anymore. Let’s get the fuck out of here before we find out there are even more of those guys from Natak waiting for us."
