Death… And Me

Chapter 4624: Pin!

Chapter 4624: Pin!

The twins’ group made their own preparations as well, particularly when it came to Rean’s airplane. It had always been a prototype, never truly reaching a final version. Rean was constantly improving it whenever he came up with a new idea or discovered a way to make one of its systems more efficient. Even after returning to Besgol, that habit hadn’t changed.

This time, however, Rean decided to consolidate everything he had done so far rather than introduce any further upgrades. Making significant changes to the airplane and then leaving Besgol for such a long journey would be a terrible idea, especially if those changes required materials they couldn’t obtain along the way. Therefore, his final adjustments focused entirely on reliability, ensuring that every system worked as intended under the conditions they expected to encounter. No new upgrades were introduced.

Of course, that didn’t mean Rean intended to leave without preparing for potential problems. He purchased plenty of minerals and other materials that might be required to repair the airplane in an emergency. After all, they couldn’t simply bring resources from the Great Void into the Celestial Plane because of the system’s restrictions. Only items that had originally come from the Celestial Plane could be brought out, so they needed to make sure they had everything necessary before departing.

Roan also made his own preparations. He stocked up on Anti-Godly Pressure Pills, making sure they had more than enough for the journey. He also prepared nutrient pills to aid in severe injuries when using instant recovery, along with pills that could help improve their cultivation. Considering how far they intended to travel, being caught without the right supplies was a risk they couldn’t afford to take.

Finally, the group gathered on the northwestern side of Besgol. Tobao and Arcis were there, and Kachia had come along as well. Kentucky had spoken with her at length beforehand, explaining the same things the twins had told him about their shared cultivation. Eventually, the gap between their cultivation levels would become too large, and the twins’ group might have no choice but to leave her behind.

Kachia didn’t seem particularly bothered by that possibility. In fact, she had already expected it. She wasn’t an idiot, after all. She could clearly see the difference between her own progress and that of the twins’ group.

Furthermore, since she had been told everything about the system, she had even spoken with Calina and Qia in the Great Void, gaining a better understanding of what the twins possessed. In the end, she accepted that they might eventually become too powerful for her to keep up with, but she intended to do everything she could to remain by their side for as long as possible.

—

"Everyone on board! The airplane is about to take off for pastures new! Adventure, danger, sadness, joy, laughter, pain, everything awaits us in this new endeavor that we ca—"

*Dah!*

*Tum!*

Roan suddenly attempted to slap Rean on the back of the head, but Rean turned around in time to block the attack. This had happened far too many times for Rean not to expect it by now. "You missed!"

"Hmph!" Roan wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. He had trained Rean well enough that the latter could react to such attacks. "Enough with the bullshit. Let’s go."

With that, Roan entered the airplane and took his seat, leaving Rean standing outside with an exasperated expression. "You can’t even let me deliver a nice speech. Well, whatever. I’ve carved it into my heart."

Tobao and Arcis reluctantly boarded the airplane as well. Were these really the cultivators they had chosen to accompany on what was most likely a suicide journey? Perhaps it wasn’t too late to reconsider their decision.

—

No one came to see them off. That wasn’t because nobody knew Tobao and Arcis would be leaving, but because nobody knew exactly when their departure would take place.

One of the conditions Rean and Roan had requested was that the two Law Gods keep their departure a secret. Otherwise, their departure might attract far too much attention and create unnecessary trouble later, much like when the Natak Region had appeared during the previous Elite Exploration Mission.

To prevent anyone from tracking their departure through the Sacred Relic, Tobao had arranged for Clasou to keep an eye on it and ensure that no reports concerning their movements were circulated.

After all, the relic could reveal the location of everyone within its reach and even detect when someone entered or left its Influence. It was an extraordinarily useful ability, but it also meant that their departure could easily attract unwanted attention if anyone happened to notice it.

Consequently, Clasou was one of the very few experts in Besgol who knew that Tobao and Arcis would be leaving that day.

Rean’s airplane quickly accelerated to the speed of an Initial Stage Zone God, streaking away from Besgol. Just three hours later, they had already left the Sacred Relic’s Influence. Another four hours passed before the twins lost the signal to the Besgol Network, leaving them without any means of contacting the Region again.

As soon as the Besgol Network’s signal disappeared...

[New System Quest Available!]

[Quest: Beyond Familiar Horizons]

[Description: You have embarked on the longest journey you have ever undertaken through the Celestial Plane. Although you have explored much vaster distances before, the territory ahead remains largely unknown to you. Venture beyond the limits of your previous explorations and reach your destination.]

[Main Objective: Reach the Sprouting Portal.]

[Additional Objective 01: Acquire a Godly Apex Crystal.]

[Additional Objective 02: No deaths.]

[Reward: To be calculated based on performance and additional objectives completed.]

[Failure Condition: None.]

Rean glanced at the announcement and faintly smiled. ’Sister Orb, you’re getting pretty good at these things.’

[Hehe!] Sister Orb readily agreed with the praise. [What could you expect from the best orb ever? That was a very system-like announcement, wasn’t it? Wasn’t it?!]

’Still... a Godly Apex Crystal?’ Kentucky couldn’t help but point out.

Roan fell into thought. Given the twins’ group’s current strength, they could undoubtedly fight Godly Horrors without too much trouble. After all, they now had Tobao and Arcis accompanying them, and both were genuine Law Gods.

Once they traveled far enough from Besgol, the twins would explain everything about their abilities and circumstances, meaning they would no longer need to hide their special powers from the two.

With their Yin Yang Sanctuary and Roan’s pills, it was difficult to imagine them ending up in a situation where they would lose someone to a Godly Horror. That was especially true because Godly Horrors rarely gathered together unless they were fighting over territory.

However, Roan couldn’t forget what Duze had told them back when he erased the memories of the various Regions. The journey to the Sprouting Portal was dangerous, particularly because Godly Apexes could be found in that area.

And now, the system was asking them to acquire a Godly Apex Crystal.

[Of course,] Sister Orb added, [this quest isn’t mandatory. You can ignore it if you want.]

Roan narrowed his eyes. ’Thanks to all the good fortune we’ve had, we reached the Late Stage of the Zone God Realm rather quickly. That means we’re getting closer to the Law God Realm... and we don’t have a cultivation technique prepared for it yet. We’ll need Orb System Points to develop the Law God-level version of our technique.’

Rean considered their current resources. ’Sister Orb, we still have 368 Orb Points available, right? Would that be enough to—’

[Nowhere near enough to develop it,] Sister Orb interrupted before he could finish.

Rean fell silent for a moment, while Roan’s expression grew increasingly serious. Without a suitable cultivation technique, reaching the next major realm would become a problem. Their current supply of Orb Points wasn’t enough to solve that issue, and the Godly Apex Crystal quest had appeared at a particularly convenient time.

In the end, there wasn’t much of a choice about whether to pursue the quest or not.

’Seems like we’ll be hunting a Godly Apex, then.’
