Death… And Me

Chapter 3792: Getting Too Close

Chapter 3792: Getting Too Close

Of course, Erxando didn’t become that fast at all. The one flying was none other than Kentucky, who couldn’t be detected thanks to Rean’s Light Bending and Xian’s Shadow Energy.

As a Middle Stage Sky Space-Time Realm, Kentucky’s speed while flying was unmatched even for the twins. Kentucky definitely could fly faster than most Peak Stage Divinity Realm Experts, except for some who also focused on speed.

Then you might ask, isn’t Gidui a Level Three Umbra, something equivalent to a Semi-Celestial Realm Expert? Shouldn’t he be faster since he is also an Umbra focused on speed? The answer was quite simple: Umbras can use more laws thanks to their various memory fragments from multiple experts. However, they don’t have the support of Divine Energy, let alone Sky Energy like Kentucky’s.

That was one of the reasons why Kentucky said Erxando wasn’t anywhere as strong as the Semi-Celestials they fought back in the Lisan Universe. The same goes for all Umbras. They could be considered equivalent to such levels of experts because of the laws they controlled, but not as strong.

So, Gidui was very fast, but he was lacking compared to Kentucky. If Gidui truly wanted to fly faster than Kentucky, he had one choice and one choice only. He would have to tap on his Celestial Laws.

In the Celestial Laws’ case, Gidui was actually even worse than Erxando. That’s because Erxando was a lucky Umbra who was born with comprehension of both Fire and Lightning Celestial Laws. Gidui, on the other hand, only had his Wind Celestial Laws.

Last but not least, if he truly used those laws, his comprehension would be affected. Was that worth it? Gidui absolutely didn’t think so. A Level Three Umbra’s Celestial Laws were almost always exclusively used for life and death moments for the sake of survival. If they use them in any other situation, then it better be a heaven-defying opportunity, and Gidui definitely didn’t think this was the case.

"I have to say, that guy is damn fast..." Kentucky commented. There was always the other side. Sure, Kentucky showed he was faster without Celestial Laws, but he, too, was almost on the limit of his speed. It was fortunate that Gidui didn’t seem to get any faster than that. In the end, Kentucky’s cultivation was just too low.

Erxando looked at their speed, feeling depressed. With such low cultivation, he was this fast. If Erxando wanted to match Kentucky’s speed, he would definitely need to tap on his Celestial Laws too, and he would need to use much more than Gidui since he wasn’t focused on speed.

Erxando quickly shook his head, throwing those thoughts to the back of his mind. There was no point in thinking about it now. Instead, he kept focused on Gidui and could sense Gidui falling further and further behind.

Xian suddenly spoke. "We are out!"

Yet, Erxando shook his head. "No, he is just out of your detection range since your level is low. When we, Level Three Umbras, focus on a target, we can detect them much further away. Keep flying, Kentucky. It will take another minute at least before I can’t feel that guy anymore."

"Fly for ten minutes," Roan wasn’t going to take any chances. "Only then can you change direction and go somewhere else."

Kentucky didn’t mind. "Sure, but I’m using quite a bit of Starlight Energy here to make my Sky Energy. Divine Energy alone wouldn’t be enough to outrun our pursuer."

"That’s why we didn’t use all our Starlight Energy," Rean answered with a smile.

Indeed, the twins’ group stopped cultivating when they ran out of Starlight Energy... or, to be more specific, they stopped when it wasn’t worth continuing anymore, when there was nothing to be gained. They still kept some of the Starlight Crystal Fruits from the Golden Palace. After all, what if they needed Sky Energy for a fight? Of the three fused forces that comprise Sky Energy, Starlight Energy was by far the most difficult to acquire.

"Since you don’t mind, I’ll keep taking more." Kentucky was happy there were no restrictions for him.

Around a minute later, Gidui finally stopped, looking in the direction Erxando and the Level One Umbra he carried disappeared. It already wasn’t a problem of using Celestial Laws or not. He was truly flying as fast as he could while not using his Celestial Laws of Wind. That meant his Shadow Energy was still being used, and if he used much more, he could actually be vulnerable if the situation changed somehow.

What if this was all a plot to make him spend all his Shadow Energy? The Level Three Umbras would never risk giving anyone an opening. "Forget it. I’ll just go back and tell what happened. There has never been any confirmation that Erxando was up to something anyway." And so, Gidui turned around and left.

---

Kentucky flew around the Dark Purple Area as planned. In the following hours, Xian and Erxando detected two more Level Three Umbras, but none of them attempted to pursue them. After selecting a random entry point, Kentucky once again changed direction and flew straight to the Dark Purple Area.

"Erxando," Rean spoke as Kentucky approached their objective. "There aren’t many Level Three Umbras, that much is obvious now. Still, what about Level Four?"

Erxando shook his head. "I’ve never seen one, but it is not like I’ve never heard about it. Let’s not forget that even we, Level Three Umbras, are trying to reach this Elusive Level Four. It’s just that for us to reach Level Four, we most likely need an Umbra that was born from the memory fragments of a real Celestial Realm Expert. The key words here are ’most likely,’ since I don’t know anyone who found or was born with memory fragments of a full-fledged Celestial Realm Expert. Perhaps we need something more, perhaps we don’t. Who knows?"

"You heard about it?" Kentucky glanced at him. "So there have been Level Fours before?"

Erxando shrugged. "Maybe? All I heard were legends. As far as I’m aware, it might be just a bunch of nonsense older Level Three Umbras spread for fun. At this point in my life, I very much would like to see one."

Looking forward, Xian suddenly began to feel dizzy. "I... I think we are getting too close..."
