Death… And Me

Chapter 3891: How Wrong They Were

Chapter 3891: How Wrong They Were

Just like before, the Verjansy Country gave the one thousand participants who passed the second test a few days to recover, especially the last ones to come out.

During this time, Rean convinced the poor Trian to accept the Verjansy Country invitation instead of going for the Bautuk Sect as Trian initially intended. Even better, Rean made it look like Trian himself had come up with the idea, obviously using his Soul Power to sway the kid towards that decision.

As for Rean, he was still considered to be under the Soul Binding Contract with Donfug back in Enrel City. Rean didn’t mind that, of course. As long as the Verjansy Country sent someone to talk to Donfug, the slave trader definitely wouldn’t refuse an offer from a top ten power of the Surute Region.

---

Things also played out as Roan and Tanxan predicted on their side. The Hazin Clan was visited by the various top ten powers, all of them interested in the kid and the green jelly. Naturally, it wasn’t the Verjansy Country, as the government there kind of invaded their residence a few days ago and wasn’t exactly welcome at the moment.

In the end, the power that paid the most to have the Hazin Clan let Roan go was the Amefis Treasure Hall, located in the Country of Nethicio. They also took Tanxan with Roan, as they heard from the Hazin Clan that Roan was Tanxan’s master. After the gathering was over, Roan and Tanxan would be officially members of the Amefis Treasure Hall.

"Sigh..." Ruriklin couldn’t help but feel disappointed. "I tried to convince the Clan that letting go of incredible prospects like you was a mistake, but they just couldn’t refuse such a big payment."

Roan nodded slightly. "We both knew that was likely going to happen. At least I didn’t have to sign any Soul Binding Contracts anymore since you broke mine, which I’m thankful for. However, the gathering isn’t over yet. If I get a good result here, it will also benefit your clan, and you should be able to attract more geniuses in the future."

Ruriklin could only rely on that. "Yes, you are right. If you need anything before the last event, let me know. I will do everything I can."

---

Celis obviously had no issues being taken by the Pengen Beast Alliance. It’s just that the Korko Sect was confused about why Foliana decided to let Celis go, as she was his master. To that, Foliana simply said: "The Pengen Beast Alliance definitely has a better environment for Demons than the Verjansy Country. I obviously don’t want to separate from him, but for his own future, I have to let him go."

The Korko Sect, having already been convinced of the trade, could only accept her words. Just like the Hazin Clan, they also received some big payouts to let Foliana and Celis go away.

---

Last but not least, there was Zangeshu and Kentucky. This was the trickiest duo. No, to be more specific, Kentucky was the tricky one, and Zangeshu had to somehow tag along.

Why? Because the Great Kentucky Fan Club had just grown way too much! The Liantrel Sect, where Kentucky lived, was being overwhelmed by all the attention due to the beast, be it for good or for worse. The number of female youngsters wishing to take part in the recruitment test of the Liantrel Sect has exploded in the past days, and the sect didn’t even know if they would have enough space for so many of them.

On the other hand, the number of males interested also fell by almost half. The men truly didn’t want to be anywhere near the all-female conquering Demon Beast. So, Liantrel was in a dilemma: was it worth having Kentucky there at all? Yes, if you counted the numbers alone, there were so many more female youngsters interested in joining the sect that you could say the sect was having a blast.

However, the Liantrel Sect was, above everything else, a Sect focused on Formations! The vast majority of the females wishing to join the sect didn’t seem to care about the Formations Masters part of the sect at all. They just wanted to live close to the Great Kentucky.

So, you could see the sect’s trouble. So much so that none of the top ten showed interest in Kentucky, with the exception of the Pengen Beast Alliance. But even they had their doubts about whether it would be worth taking Kentucky in or not.

Fortunately, the solution appeared a day before the last event started. Within the top ten powers, there was one female-only sect, also known as the Sea Breeze Sect of Letar Country.

You might be wondering. Wait! Isn’t Kentucky a male? Even if Kentucky is attracting a lot of women, they couldn’t really be considering taking a male inside, right?

Well, the problem was elsewhere. Why did the Sea Breeze Sect wait until the last day to make an offer for Kentucky? Because they indeed had no intention whatsoever to break the female-only rule until then!

So, what changed? Very simple... some of the youngsters and even a few older disciples of the Sea Breeze Sect wanted to leave and try their luck in the Liantrel Sect, that’s why. Now, a sect that usually attracted most of the female geniuses was seeing itself losing way more disciples than they would gain in this gathering because of this one ridiculous Demon Bird.

There was a lot of discussion in the sect between its elders and the sect master. And, as you can imagine, even assassination was in the cards. If that bird didn’t exist, the problem wouldn’t exist either, right? Wrong!

The legend of the Great Kentucky has grown out of proportion. Attempting a kill would definitely incur a lot of hatred if it were found out that the Sea Breeze Sect was responsible, especially within its own rankings. Besides, Kentucky was indeed very famous among the females, but they were mostly youngsters. The older ones could at least control themselves, and most didn’t seem to care much. Well, they would still love to give the minokawa a hug, that is.

"That won’t work," Kentucky said when he was procured by the elders of the Sea Breeze Sect. "I’m loyal to the Liantrel Sect. How could I leave my beloved home, all my friends, and especially my fans back there? The Liantrel Sect would never forgive me for this betrayal!"

"Ahem..." Elder Figlin, the one in charge of the disciples during the gathering, quickly jumped into that negotiation. "Little Friend Kentucky, there is no need to worry. Our Liantrel Sect is well aware that your heart lives with us. However, we must also consider what is best for our disciples, and currently, the best option for you is to join the Sea Breeze Sect. It is not betrayal, it is a decision both our sects reached, taking into consideration your well-being."

Kentucky looked sad, though he was doing his best not to burst into laughter inside. How could he not be happy? A female-only sect! The Great Kentucky Fan Club- No! The Great Kentucky Religion would grow even faster there! "But..."

Figlin insisted. "It is for your own good, so we have already come to terms with it." Deep inside, Figlin was desperate. ’Please, just go away! We will not be a Formations Sect anymore if things continue like this!’

"Sigh..." Kentucky nodded in the end. "I understand, Elder Figlin. However, Zangeshu is my friend, and I can’t leave him behind. He needs me. I’m not going anywhere without my friend. We grew together, and we are inseparable!"

Zangeshu absolutely didn’t think that. In fact, he didn’t want to go with Kentucky at all, but he needed someone who could use the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm with him, so the poor guy didn’t have much of a choice.

In the end, the Sea Breeze Sect compromised. ’We are already taking one male, so taking two won’t make much of a difference. We will settle them in some isolated corner of the sect anyway, just so our girls stop complaining. They will never get inside the sect for real.’

Little did they know how wrong they were...
