Chapter 3947: The Balance
"Who am I?" Caladara found it funny. "I guess you got the wrong idea here."
Her power enveloped the twins’ group, pushing them close to her. They felt a pressure that almost smashed their bodies, even Kentucky’s. They could barely hold on, and it was obvious that Caladara was holding back. "I’m the one who asks questions. So, how about starting with the same one you asked a second ago? Who the hell are you four?"
Roan was calm. "I’m Roan, and these three are Rean, Kentucky, and Celis. But I guess that’s not what you want to know. What I can tell you is that we aren’t really worth your time. I recognize this golden power; it is very similar to that Golden Sphere thing that attacked us all those years ago. Since you are going to kill us anyway, we have nothing else to say."
Caladara was taken aback, reducing the pressure on the twins’ group. "From the way you are talking, could it be it was you four who got rid of the Golden Echo?"
"Golden Echo?" Roan heard the name for the first time. "If you are talking about that Golden Sphere, then yes, it was us."
Caladara looked at them closely. Their cultivation suppression was useless against her. She could see their real cultivations. "Hmph! That’s a terrible lie. You are only in the Middle Stage of the Space-Time Realm. There is no way you could eliminate the Golden Echo."
"You underestimate us way too much," Roan countered. "In any case, it matters not. Just do what you have to do. That’s why you are here, isn’t it? To finish that thing’s job?"
Caladara narrowed her eyes, looking back at Ximao. "I knew a Golden Echo was dispatched, but you told me it was eliminated by the experts of that Vous Continent, didn’t you?"
Ximao shook his head in response. "That is not correct, Senior Caladara. What I said was that I ’believed’ it was eliminated by them. However, since I couldn’t leave my post, I wasn’t able to verify it myself. I tried to get the information from the Vous Imperial Family, but they refused to share anything, and I couldn’t really force them."
Caladara thought for a moment and had an idea. She reduced her power, but still kept it at something similar to a Divinity Realm Middle Stage Expert. "Alright, if you can get yourselves fr-"
Before she could even finish her words, the twins’ group acted. Their Sky Energy circulated, and they shot forward. Rean and Roan instantly summoned their Intent Weapons, while Celis and Kentucky used their own skills. They had one chance, attacking Caladara with everything they had.
*Bzzzz!*
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Their attacks stopped just a few centimeters from her, a Golden power surrounding the woman and freezing the attacks in midair.
Ximao was shocked. He saw everything and couldn’t believe the twins’ group got that close to Caladara. "Impressive... Are they still hiding their cultivations?"
Caladara would be lying if she said she wasn’t spooked for an instant. She suppressed her power for a moment to the Middle Stage of the Divinity Realm. She thought the twins’ group had to be at least this strong if they wanted her to believe they truly got rid of the Golden Echo. Yet, it was obvious that they far surpassed that threshold.
*Flick!*
Then, Caladara pointed her finger down, and the Golden Power forced the towns’ group in the same direction.
*Bang, bang, bang, bang!*
Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis slammed on the floor, once again unable to move. Truth be told, Roan was quite surprised. He knew the woman was many times stronger, but the element of surprise was something he was very good at. He thought she would try to test their strength at some point, and told Rean and the others to attack as soon as they felt her power diminishing. That was a moment she likely wouldn’t expect them to act, especially after showing how much stronger she was.
And, in fact, the element of surprise did work. Caladara was indeed taken by surprise at that moment. It’s just that she had that golden barrier around her, something that was always active. It was invisible most of the time, but once something capable of harming her got close, it materialized automatically to stop whatever was coming her way.
Caladara had a mix of emotions. On one hand, she was amazed by how much stronger the twins’ group was, considering their cultivation level. "They are not hiding their cultivation anymore. They are truly in the Middle Stage of the Space-Time Realm."
On the other hand, she felt it was quite humiliating that she would have been hit if not for her Golden Barrier.
Before she could make up her mind, Ximao quickly spoke. "Senior Caladara, the Judgemental Eye wasn’t wrong! With such power, these four must truly be Balance Breakers. I deeply apologize for interfering with the Judgemental Eye’s decision. We must submit them over. Please, leave it to me to get things done."
Caladara’s attention turned in Ximao’s direction. Yes, she knew Ximao was right. That was the directive of the Judgemental Eye. Find Level Six Golden Radiances, also known as Balance Breakers, and get them under custody. If they tried to escape, a Golden Echo would be dispatched to get rid of them instead. However, she had seen Level Six Balance Breakers before, and none of them were anywhere near the twins’ group power. "Submit them, you say?"
Then, her power enveloped Ximao and brought him down just beside the twins’ group, slamming his body on the ground.
*Bang!*
He, too, couldn’t do anything.
"You might be surprised by their power, but you knew the Eye wasn’t wrong, didn’t you? You wanted to keep them alive," Caladara saw right through Ximao. "Speak, what is the meaning of this? What do you have to gain from saving them?"
The twins’ group looked at that, and it didn’t look very good. Roan, especially, had a terrible expression. It was obvious they were involved in some kind of scheme from higher beings, and they had no say in the matter at all.
Ximao bitterly smiled, speaking with difficulty. "S-Senior Caladara, calm down. Th-The balance, check the balance..."
"The balance?" Caladara changed her approach. She took out that same type of Communication Device with a Golden Hue around it. Her own CD allowed her to connect to the Judgemental Eye. Using it, she got the Judgemental Energy to send its Golgen Light into the twins’ bodies again without anyone in the academy noticing.
Just like before, the twins’ group’s bodies shone with a Golden Light, and that was definitely the Level Six Golden Radiance, Balance Breakers. However, it was then that Caladara noticed a change, something she could only have seen when watching directly, something impossible to notice through the recordings. "It’s not attaching perfectly... There is a degree of resistance... Wait! Outsiders!"
