Death… And Me

Chapter 4086: Old Master

Chapter 4086: Old Master

Havira immediately shot in the direction of one of the gaps where the chains disappeared inside. However...

*Rumble!*

Out of nowhere, her world turned red, space tore apart, and five claws came hacking down on her. She couldn’t move; some kind of power held her in place. It was Kroqui, the Scarlet-Striped Divine Panther!

Back in the Lisan Universe, when the twins’ group fought in the war, the Garisan’s Celestial often sent attacks from outside the Universe to help his forces. Naturally, the same thing could be done by Kroqui and Flogon outside.

Havira could see the laws of the Universe acting on Kroqui’s attack, reducing its power several times. However, Kroqui was both a Peak Stage Celestial and a Balance Breaker. Not to mention, Havira was just at the border of the Universe. The Universe’s Laws didn’t have much time to act on Kroqui’s attack, so it carried more than enough power to completely obliterate Havira.

’I’m dead...’

Or so she thought.

*Bzzzzz!*

Suddenly, the claws stopped, and the world returned to normal. Some kind of barrier stopped the claws, something that Kroqui’s attack simply couldn’t get through.

’Didn’t I say I would hold them?’ Hick’s voice echoed in Havira’s mind. ’Since I said I would do it, I obviously have the capability to do so. Don’t waste time! Enter the breach!’

Havira was relieved, quickly nodding and disappearing into the breach where the chain passed through.

Havira felt like her body was transported somewhere else. Her vision got blurred for a moment, returning to normal a second later. In front of her, a gigantic sphere of all colors you could imagine could be seen. Havira couldn’t help but feel minuscule in front of it, even more than she did in front of Celestials. ’Is that... a Chaos Origin Source?’

However, she quickly shook her head and looked around. Since she appeared here, the anchor of the chain must be here too. Sure enough, there wasn’t just the chain of the breach she used to get here close by. Instead, there were many chains coming out of other breaches in space, all anchored to a tiny area of the Chaos Origin Source itself.

Havira steeled her resolve and flew after the anchor.

*Ugh!*

Too bad, though. There was just too much Chaos Energy! She began to feel dizzy as she found it hard to keep her Spirit Form. At some point, she stopped. If she went any further than that, the sheer amount of Chaos Energy coming out of the source would make her pass out, maybe even kill her. ’I’m still so far, and yet, I can’t go further than this. If the Chaos Origin Source of a Rank C Universe is already like this, just what kind of monstrosity would be the Chaos Origin Source of the Werdlem Universe?’

Of course, she didn’t have the time to think about that. Instead, her senses entered her Pocket Dimensional Realm.

*Vup!*

In the next moment, a golden bead appeared on her hand. The look on Havira’s eyes showed the reluctance to use that thing. No, it wasn’t reluctance, but sadness. There was definitely some history involving that thing. However, determination filled her eyes as she took the bead into her body. It quickly touched her own core, resonating with it.

*Creeeeeeeeeeee!!!*

A mighty cry followed, and Havira’s body began to burn many times brighter, the golden power and sunlight energy increasing nonstop. That was the Core of a dead Three-Legged Golden Crow. To be more specific, it was the Core of the Golden Crow who taught Havira everything when she was young, her master!

That core had been given to her after her master’s passing, and she hasn’t used it even once. Normally, a Golden Crow would use that core to help with their own breakthroughs, especially if you were trying to reach the Divinity Realm. However, it was too important to her, so she never used it. Eventually, she reached the Divinity Realm by herself and kept the Core as a memento.

Havira directed all the power of that Core to create a layer around her body. The projection of a bigger Golden Crow appeared, with different traits than hers. The power was overwhelming, the entire energy of a Peak Stage Divinity being used at once. Controlling it for long periods of time would be nearly impossible. Of course, she didn’t need that long.

Havira held it and looked at the face of the projection, making her feel sad for an instant again. The projection of the Golden Crown that appeared around her was her master. He was long dead, struck down during one of those tests to select a Universe Owner. She was fortunate to a certain extent. Her master’s companions managed to recover his Core and gave it to her after returning to their Universe.

Havira’s expression returned to normal, and she shot forward as she knew she didn’t have time. The entire power of a Peak Divinity, all being used at once, was nothing but a flickering flame in front of a sun when talking about the Chaos Origin Source. It wouldn’t last more than a few seconds for Havira.

*Ugh...*

Even with that protection, she felt the Chaos Energy and Laws passing through it and assaulting her body and Core. She redirected almost all her energy to defend her Core only, ignoring her Spirit Body. She could rebuild it with enough time later as long as her Core survived, an advantage most Spirits had.

On the other hand, Spirits’ bodies were known for being weak. Even though a Golden Crow Spirit’s body was many times stronger than your average Spirit, that ’weaker fact’ didn’t change when compared to other races like Humanoids, Devils, Angels, and especially Demon Beasts.

By the time she reached the area where the chains were being anchored, her master’s power was almost gone, and even her body already had some severe damage.

She was almost without sunlight energy, so how would she destroy the anchors? The answer was pulled out of her Pocket Dimensional Realm the next instant. A box... the same box Rean gave her.

The chains weren’t far from each other, so she flew by each of the anchors connected to the Chaos Origin Source, taking less than a second to leave a little gift attached to each of them.

---

Going back to the past a little...

When Roan told Havira to enter the breach and find the anchors to destroy, that box was brought out in front of her. It was Rean who gave her that, followed by a Divine Sense Message.

’According to what we know, the Anchors must be made of materials of our world, different from the chains. To seal something like Hick, the Anchors must be connected to the Chaos Origin Source directly; you can feel it from the energy in the chains if you ever felt Chaos Energy before,’ Rean explained.

’However, the Chaos Origin Source is no joke. That thing has so much energy that even getting close to it is ridiculously difficult,’ Rean added.

’I have a way of doing that,’ Havira replied.

’I know you do,’ Rean smiled in response. ’You wouldn’t have accepted Roan’s orders if you didn’t have an idea in mind. The problem is the Anchors. Will you have enough energy to destroy them once you manage to get close?’

’This...’ Havira wasn’t certain.

Rean knew that it would be difficult. ’That’s why you should bring this box with you.’

Havira looked at the box. ’What is inside?’

’Bombs!’ Rean answered. ’To be more specific, Sky Energy Bombs! Be careful, they are pretty volatile, and quite a few exploded inside our Dimensional Realm while I created them. They are terrible for battles, as you can’t control the explosions, and anyone would notice the tremendous amount of energy inside them before you could even get close.’

’It is like turning on the light in a pitch-black room. There is no way you can hide the light itself. Worse yet, the explosions themselves take a three to four seconds start, so any expert at our level would have plenty of time to leave the area of effect.’

’However, when they explode, they will have a power similar to all-out attacks from Semi-Celestials. The Anchors of the chains are already strained enough by simply being connected to the Chaos Origin Source. If you throw these bombs at the anchors, I can guarantee the anchors will come down.’

Havira nodded, putting the box into her Pocket Dimensional Realm. ’Got it!’

---

*Zush!*

Havira didn’t stay to see the explosions go off. Any longer in this place, and she would die before the explosions happened. Fortunately, it was countless times easier to fly away from the Chaos Origin Source than to get close to it.

The three to four seconds Rean said it would take for them to explode didn’t happen, though. In the end, the Chaos Origin Source also affected them. Just two seconds went by, and the first bomb went off!

*BOOM!*

*Woah!*

Havira was immediately hit by the Sky and Chaos Energy shockwave, and that was only the first.

*Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom...*

Explosions followed, using each other’s power to grow even stronger!

Havira’s core slightly cracked, and she wasn’t sure she would be able to get away fast enough.

But then, the Golden Core that was touching Havira’s Core detached from her on its own, much to her shock!

The projection of the other Golden Crow grew even bigger, blocking the explosions’ shockwave. That Golden Crown was quickly broken apart, and the Golden Core from where it came began to crack and dissipate.

That was enough, though. The shockwaves themselves helped Havira get away from the explosions, as that projection of a Golden Crow followed closely. By the time Havira got far enough, the projection was pretty much gone, but she was safe.

Havira only had the time to look at her late master’s face, who faintly smiled at her for a moment, and then disappeared together with his Core.

"Master..."

*Plang, plang, plang, plang...*

For the Chaos Origin Source, even such explosions were nothing more than an ich. It changed nothing for the Chaos Origin Source itself. However, the chains were different. The segments of the chains began to break on their own! In a matter of seconds, the breaking segments already reached the breaches that connected to the outside.

Havira, obviously, shot through one of those breaches. The breaches probably existed because of the chains. Once they were gone, the breaches would be too. Havira definitely wouldn’t stay there to get herself trapped.

Finally, she arrived outside to see the results of her efforts.
