Chapter 4088: Scapegoat
Gin didn’t understand how the twins’ group intended to use the Great Void Shifter. It would require authorization from the Werdlem Empire. Besides, you need the Great Void Shifter destination to be warned about the Shift so they could turn ON their formation as well. So, it made no sense seeing them going after the Shifter. Could they have connections in the Werdlem Empire? Gin hardly believed so.
Of course, that didn’t mean Gin’s group would risk letting the twins’ group try it out. He and his companions noticed Flogon and Kroqui not too far, but those two were obviously being held by something. So, Gin’s group ignored them and immediately called upon the Celestial Energy of the Celestial Plane, and also their laws. They did not attack the twins’ group. Instead...
Several attacks rained on the formation, cracks appeared everywhere, and in a moment, the formation blasted into countless pieces. Regardless of how the twins’ group intended to use the formation, it mattered not anymore. Now, Gin could take his time to capture them, especially Roan, and force him to deliver the Vial of God Blood. They were outside C44, after all. The twins’ group had no chance against his group.
However, it only took an instant for Gin to see the twins’ group charge into the chaos created by Gin’s group after destroying the formation. Why were they insisting on going for a formation that had been obliterated? It would take a very long time to fix it.
*Plang! Plang!*
Flogon and Kroqui finally destroyed the boundaries around their core and datian. The two Balance Breakers were free, and they had no intention of letting anyone go, including Gin’s group.
Hick felt the moment his boundaries were broken, and his black sphere core seemed to get a lot dimmer. He wasn’t kidding when he said that blocking those two would only last a few seconds. In fact, Hick would never have done such a thing in normal circumstances, as he is now pretty much without any power left to use his Innate Ability. All those years truly took a gigantic toll on his body’s cultivation and strength.
Gin’s group approaching from one side, Flogon and Kroqui coming from the other. Celestial Energy and Laws of all types converging around them. The difference in cultivation was never so obvious as the twins’ group could barely move. However, they were not worried.
*Fruf!*
Out of nowhere, a pitch-black tunnel appeared right where the Great Void Shifter was before! Neither Flogon nor Gin’s group had seen one of those before. It wasn’t a Spatial Gate, since they could have easily blocked its opening with their powers. "Not good! Stop them!"
Stop who? The moment the black tunnel appeared, the twins’ group already charged inside. They knew it was going to appear there. Various attacks followed from both sides, but it was meaningless. The tunnel closed before them.
*Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom...*
The space around the place where the tunnel appeared turned into a death zone, Celestial Energy and Laws causing havoc everywhere and destroying space itself. Unfortunately, it was all for nothing, as their targets were gone!
"FUCK!" Gin cursed, his teeth gritting hard. He couldn’t feel anything with his spatial power, so it was impossible to tell where the twins’ group had gone.
His problems had just started, though.
*Zush, zush!*
Kroqui and Flogon’s expressions were terrible, their Celestial Energy assaulting Gin and his companions. Gin’s group could feel the pressure, and basically, only Gin could keep a calm expression in front of them. Still, all his instincts were telling him not to make any unnecessary moves. The experts in front of him were Peak Stage Celestials, just like him, but he could tell he wasn’t their match. ’Balance Breakers...’ Those words immediately popped into his mind, and his expression also got worse.
Of course, he was still a descendant of the Werdlem Imperial Family, so he showed no fear. "I demand an explanation. What was that body? Who are you? And what is this all about?"
Flogon snorted. "I don’t give a fuck about your demands, piece of shit from the Werdlem Family."
*Arrghhh!*
*Boom!*
Suddenly, one of Gin’s companions, the woman called Suvana, exploded. Then, the broken body and energy surged in Kroqui’s direction, including the soul. He opened his enormous mouth, swallowing everything and chewing. "Tch... can’t even fill the cavities of my teeth."
His eyes turned to Jary and Salazar, causing the humanoid and the demon plant to freeze in place. They didn’t even know how Kroqui did that to Suvana!
"Stop!" Gin ordered. These subordinates are under his direct control. He sees them as tools that can’t betray him even if they wanted to, but they were extremely hard to get.
Kroqui looked back at Gin. "Boy, we warned you to leave this place earlier, didn’t we? Your Werdlem name holds no power here. We are under direct orders of the Emperor himself, and we are allowed to kill anyone who comes to this place unauthorized, including other members of the Werdlem Family."
Gin understood the bad situation he found himself in. And to hear that the Emperor himself said such things made his ego deflate pretty fast. He didn’t think Flogon and Kroqui were lying at all. "Seniors, we have no ill will here. We were not here for whatever that giant thing was. Our target was the Three-Legged Golden Crow. We only got this far because we were following her. We are truly unaware of what is happening here."
Kroqui didn’t seem to care. "Too late for that now."
However, before he made a move, Flogon stopped him. "Wait a moment."
Kroqui narrowed his eyes, turning to Flogon. "Why?"
It wasn’t because Flogon felt pity for Gin, though. ’We will be blamed for this failure later, so we definitely need a scapegoat, don’t you think?’ He asked Kroqui through Divine Sense.
Kroqui’s eyes lit up, and he gave up killing Gin and the remaining members of his group. ’Makes sense.’
The Werdlem Network Signal would still take a few minutes to be restored, thanks to the lingering energy of Hick’s Innate Ability. However, Gin’s group had no other choice but to wait since they had no chance of escaping. As to how the Empire would deal with them, that wasn’t Flogon and Kroqui’s problem.
---
Back on the twins’ group side...
They were moving through the Abyssal Path, having no idea of where they were going. From what Sister Orb could see with the system’s ability, this Abyssal Path didn’t have any connections with other paths and could only bring them to a single place. Naturally, it wasn’t available in the Abyssal Path Chart the twins had in their hands either.
*Zush, zush, zush, zush, zush!*
Suddenly, a black tunnel appeared inside a dark room, and the twins’ group exited it like bullets.
*Bang!*
They landed on the ground, causing the surroundings to tremble. Yet, everything was silent, and they had no idea where they were.
Their Divine Senses spread, and they soon found out they were inside some closed facility. It’s just that they couldn’t see what was outside, as the formations in this place blocked all Divine Senses.
"There doesn’t seem to be anyone here," Kentucky commented.
"Then we are lucky," Rean added.
"Let’s quickly leave this place," Hick warned, already taking flight. "The boundary I put in the Werdlem Network Signal back there will only last a few minutes. After that, no doubt those guys will inform the Werdlem Empire. Any idiot will be able to tell that we used the Abyssal Path and came here. This place will be completely surrounded in no time."
No one in the twins’ group complained. They all took flight, charging in the direction of what seemed to be the exit in their Divine Senses.
They arrived in front of an enormous gate, and after confirming with Sister Orb about the formations in place, Roan touched it, channeling his Dark Element. A hole was created through his Dark Element corrosion power, allowing them to see the other side.
Before they went through the hole, however, they were assaulted by a massive concentration of Divine Origin Energy, which was just as big as normal Divine Energy. It surpassed even the concentration back in the A1 Universe!
"This... could we be..."
Hick was the one to confirm. "There is no doubt. We are in Werdlem Universe."
