Chapter 4098: Let’s do it
There was an abyss found near the center of that territory. Surprisingly, you could see many buildings stretching through its canyons, forming a weird city that housed a few million inhabitants. By the cultivation world standard, that was definitely a tiny city, especially if it was found in the Werdlem Universe, the best of them all.
At the bottom of that abyss, you could see an imposing building, and it was quite crowded, with the people of the city coming in and out nonstop.
The twins’ group arrived above the abyss, also above that building, just a few hours later, catching the attention of those below. Several experts immediately took flight, coming out of the abyss to intercept them. "Who are you? This region is restricted!"
Hick waved his hand, and a token with a bear insignia on it.
Seeing the token, the guards quickly dropped their hostility, bowing in Hick’s direction. "Sorry for the confusion, sir. We didn’t know you were related to Senior Dofrei’s house."
Hick didn’t mind. "It’s fine, it’s fine. I haven’t been here in a while anyway. Is Dofrei around? I came here to see him."
One of the guards came forward to speak. "Sorry to disappoint you, friend, but he is absent at the moment."
Hick pondered a bit, his eyes turning in another direction. "Is he fishing again?"
The guard was surprised by that question. Few knew of Dofrei’s habits, even if they had the Dofrei House’s Token. Most who did have it didn’t live here. Instead, they used the token just to be able to use the territory’s special traits... for a fee, of course.
Seeing that the guard didn’t answer, Hick smiled and sent the token back into his Pocket Dimensional Realm. "So he is, uh? Alright, you guys can go back. I know where he is. Let’s go!"
Rean and Kentucky nodded, and they flew away with Hick while the guards just watched. The guard who talked to Hick took out his CD, sending a message before returning with everyone to the city again.
Rean looked at that city, feeling curious. "Quite a weird place to build a city, especially considering what kind of place this is."
Hick agreed with him. "That’s why there are so few inhabitants. However, inside this abyss and its canyons, you can find air and Divine Energy. In fact, the concentration is even higher than what you would usually find outside."
Hick looked back for a moment as he flew. "That’s why you saw those guards being so hostile at first. It is no secret that this is an excellent place for cultivation. Many experts wish to stay here, especially if they aren’t the rich type who can’t pay for the necessary Divine Stones."
"So that’s why..." Rean could see the advantages. "Now that I think about it, could this place hold some kind of special status in the Werdlem Universe?"
"Oh, you noticed?" Hick smiled. "Yes, it does have something like that. That’s why you wouldn’t see anyone trying anything ridiculous, such as attacking that city, for example. Even the Werdlem Imperial Family would need direct permission from the Emperor himself to come here uninvited."
They kept flying for another hour or so, when Kentucky noticed they were approaching a giant lake in the distance. With his eyesight alone, he soon saw a pier, and there seemed to be many people there, fishing. He couldn’t tell what kind of cultivation they had, of course. Divine Sense didn’t work here, and even the Natural Spatial Perception seemed heavily impaired.
Those fishers also saw Hick and the duo, but ignored their arrival and returned to their fishing. At the end of the pier, there was a muscled man with a red cape. On the cape itself, the image of a bear, very much like the one on Hick’s token.
Hick walked leisurely as Rean and Kentucky followed, soon approaching the man from behind. The man didn’t turn back to see them, but he seemed to know who it was. "Give me a good reason not to kick your ass and throw you out of my territory."
Hick shrugged, laughing a little. "Hehehe! Dofrei, would you do that to such a close friend of yours?"
"Close friend, uh?" Dofrei continued to fish. "That’s funny. I’ve never heard of a friend who stole your house’s token and used it without permission to enter and leave the Werdlem Universe, prompting several inquiries from the Werdlem Empire. Even worse, this friend didn’t give a single explanation regarding his actions."
"Did I do such a thing?" Hick looked away. "I forgot to tell you I borrowed it, that’s all. Come on, it’s not like you and the Werdlem Empire were on good terms anyway. Tell me the truth, you quite enjoyed hearing them complaining of the misuse of the Token. Besides, it was for the sake of your fellow brother, so shouldn’t it be okay?"
Finally, Dofrei turned back, his expression dark. "A fellow brother who disappeared for eons without as much as a warning. Then came back asking for help, just to disappear again. And who the hell are these two behind you?"
Rean scratched the back of his head. "Ahem... Sorry for disturbing you, senior. We are just tagging along with Hick. If you need time to give him a beating, we can arrange that too."
Hick’s mouth twitched. "I’m absolutely not going back into your Dimensional Realm!"
Dofrei didn’t expect such an answer. "A beating, uh? Seems like a good idea. At least I would be able to release some of my pent-up anger."
Of course, Dofrei knew they weren’t there just so he could give Hick a beating. "Now, leaving the fun part aside, what do you all want? I’m busy, if you haven’t noticed."
Hick felt helpless. They seemed to have already decided, without his permission, that the beating would happen. "Dofrei, I came here to help these friends break through into the Celestial Realm."
Dofrei got confused. "Celestial Realm? My territory is nowhere near BH1, why wou-" Then, he stopped. "Right, how could I have forgotten it? You are the Terminarch, after all. But do you even have the power to do that in your state?"
Hick smiled, taking out a Vial with God Blood. "With this, I definitely can."
Dofrei understood, standing up. "So you listened to me, after all. I told you that sealing some of your God Blood for the future could come in handy, didn’t I? Good! Then I also have something to gain from it. Since you are going to open a breach here, I’ll have my people take this chance too. I hope that’s not a problem. Well, of course, it is not a problem. How could it be a problem after all the problems you caused me instead? Don’t you agree?"
Hick shrugged. "Fine, do it your way. But you know very well that although chances are higher with me, there is no guarantee here. Whoever you are bringing will have to rely on their own efforts."
*Clap!*
Suddenly, all the fishers got up, gathering behind Hick, Rean, and Kentucky. They answered to Dofrei’s clap. There were at least a few hundred of them. "Those are my kids. They all have absorbed their Celestial Laws already. Well, let’s do it."
