Death… And Me

Chapter 4203: The Question

Chapter 4203: The Question

Their presence was necessary, as neither the Devils nor the Angels would let go of their own Werdlem Treasures. So, Soul Gem had to invite them so they would bring the Treasures over. As for the Werdlem Hexahedron, Soul Gem already had it himself.

At first, the Archangel and the Elder Devil were skeptical. From what Soul Gem told them, Rean and Roan were actually not dead. Also, Kentucky and Celis, who simply disappeared all those years ago, were actually with the twins.

The loss of Rean and Roan back then weighed quite heavily. Fortunately, their ’sacrifice’ was what helped the Lisan Universe to finally win the war against Garisan. Now, Soul Gem needed the power of their Werdlem Treasures to be able to bring them back.

For the Lisan Universe, that would be a great addition. Even now, the Garisan Universe still had its eyes on Lisan. Yes, Lisan became its vassal universe, but that’s because Lisan had the power to defend itself if Garisan tried to take things too far. Above all, they had the Werdlem Treasures.

What shocked them the most was obviously to hear that the twins’ group was in the Werdlem Empire, and that they would help open a channel that the twins’ group could use to come back. It goes without saying that those two, as well as the other Semi-Celestials who were told about this, felt interested in going to the Werdlem Empire itself.

However, when they heard about the Werdlem Stones and how the Werdlem Empire could cut you out of the cultivation energies, the idea instantly vanished from their minds. No cultivator who lived outside the Werdlem Empire would select such a thing in their right mind. Most cultivators are selfish, after all.

---

Dalquiel and Black Locust pulled out their treasures, and so did Soul Gem. Not too far from that location, Kafan and the other Semi-Celestials were watching, making sure no one would get in the way when everything started.

Soul Gem activated the formation, and the three Werdlem Treasures were instantly dragged to their positions. Neither Dalquiel nor Black Locust moved. They were already told what would happen. That was within their expectations.

They saw how the formation pulled the energy from inside the Werdlem Treasures, and for a moment, Black Locust and Dalquiel felt a chill in their souls. The power of The Echo was felt by them for the first time, and they didn’t know it had been inside their treasures.

They weren’t the only ones. Kafan, Sofrixa, Huban, and the other Celestials, who weren’t far away, also felt the same.

Soul Gem noticed their reactions, smiling back at them. "Terrifying, isn’t it? And yet, this power is actually present everywhere all the time, just not in a high enough concentration for anyone to feel it. Your Divine Stones, your bodies, your cultivation, the air, the void, even your own thoughts. The Echo is there, always there."

Then, his Divine Sense entered the formation, which finalized activating. "Anyway, let’s get this train moving!"

Soul Gem had a much better time acquiring the necessary energy for this. With the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm still having a direct connection with Lisan’s Chaos Origin Source, he just had to use it to fill the formation with as much as he wanted.

Suddenly, a kind of multicolored laser shot from the formation, hitting the void a few kilometers away, creating a black tunnel. Seeing that, Soul Gem’s smile increased even more. "Great! The Echo power in the treasures felt the presence of their source in the Werdlem Empire!

---

Back in the Werdlem Universe, the Natural Formation’s stored energy was being fully used in the formation that the twins were controlling with Default’s help. It didn’t take long for the same kind of multicolored laser to shoot out of it and open another black tunnel in midair. "Is that the channel?"

Default confirmed from within the Abyssal Room. "The one and the same. Now we just need to wait for the two sides to fully connect, then it is our cue. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes."

"Minutes?" Rean was surprised. "Considering just how far the Lisan Universe likely is, I’m surprised that a few minutes is enough. This thing can connect both sides faster than an Abyssal Path, uh?"

"Hum?" Default was surprised by those words. "Not at all. Lisan is just outside the Werdlem Empire’s Bubble. It is actually closer to F974 than the next Werdlem Empire Universe is, you know? That’s why F974 was chosen, not just because of the Natural Formation here."

Other than the loud sound of the formation, the room went completely silent.

Finally, Roan looked back at Default, his eyes cold as ice. "What did you say?"

On the back, Hick slowly went to a remote corner, trying to hide himself. Who brought the twins to the Werdlem Empire? Hick did! Yet, he never, even once, mentioned that the Werdlem Empire was actually that close! And the twins absolutely asked him that before.

"HICK!" Rean shouted in his direction.

Hick trembled a little, then started to laugh. "Hah... Hahaha! Is that so? Wow! I totally thought I had travelled for countless years to get to the Werdlem Empire. I guess my sense of time and space has been a little warped after spending such a long time as a beacon. But that’s good! Lisan is just outside! Isn’t that nice?"

Rean and Roan wanted nothing more than to cut Hick into ten thousand pieces right now. Like hell they believed those words. Still, that wasn’t the time for such a thing, so Rean and Roan only said one thing. "We will remember this."

Hick trembled more and made up his mind that next time, when he leaves the Werdlem Empire, he would disappear without a trace.

Default understood what was happening and just shrugged. "Well, even if it was just there, there was no point thinking about it. You couldn’t get out anyway."

The twins weren’t happier with those words. That was one of the big questions in their minds. If they left the Werdlem Empire, then where is the Lisan Universe located? That had always been the greatest concern, and the reason to follow the Primordial Demon Beasts’ plan since it would connect them directly to Lisan. They could avoid the issue of looking at Lisan by helping the beasts. Now they know...

But then came the question. If Lisan was just there, how come no one seems to know where the Werdlem Empire is located? Shouldn’t it be quite apparent?
