Death… And Me

Chapter 4232: Mortals

Chapter 4232: Mortals

Rean couldn’t help but contact Sister Orb. ’Sister Orb, can you tell what is happening?’

[Yes,] Sister Orb answered straight away. [Corpar is right. The Celestial Plane is rejecting everything related to the Great Void. By the way, Default is with me, and I’m letting him see everything as well.]

Default spoke from there. "It is good that you can feel it, and it will help me highlight my next warning, something I told you before. That is one other reason why you never hear about anyone trying to bring friends or other experts to the Celestial Plane inside their Pocket Dimensional Realms. The Celestial Plane’s backlash is no joke. You are getting a backlash from just a few remaining impurities that can barely be detected at all. Try to guess what will happen if the Celestial Plane detects a real cultivator entering it because of you."

He continued. "The Celestial Plane will know who did it, and both you and whoever you tried to send to the Celestial Plane through this method will pay the price. I have never heard about someone surviving after trying his bullshit. Don’t even try. You will only get yourself and your companion killed instantly."

Rean and the others committed Defaut’s words to mind. They didn’t doubt for a second that it could really happen. ’Understood!’

[Now, there is something you must know.]

Sister Orb then explained to them what she and Default saw when the twins’ group was ascending.

’So you’re saying our Echo got somewhat involved with the rebuilding of our bodies. Wait, isn’t that bad? If our Echo was used, won’t we receive an even higher backlash?’ Celis asked.

"That’s the weird part," Default explained. "The backlash you are experiencing is the normal backlash that everyone who ascends receives. Some are stronger, some are weaker, but you are well within threshold. It doesn’t look like any of you are receiving a higher backlash due to the use of The Echo in the rebuilding of your bodies."

Roan pondered a bit. ’If it mixed with the rebuild, Celestial Energy, Laws, etc, perhaps it is now passing by something inherently from the Celestial Plane. Anyway, there isn’t much we can do about it right now. We will stay here and wait for the backlash to be cleared.’

They could check if there was something different now, but with the other experts and the officials around, it was better to wait for later.

Corpar, obviously, had no idea the twins’ group was talking to Sister Orb and Default. "Well then, take your time to get used to it. I’ll give you guys one hour until your minds get straight again, then I’ll come back."

"No need," Roan looked at him. "The pain is real, so is the backlash, but our minds can deal with it."

Corpar was slightly surprised. "Well, I’ll be damned. You should have some pretty good aptitudes then."

Rean remembered about it. "I heard that one’s prospects were highly reliant on their past actions and achievements in their home Great Void, was it?"

Cirpar confirmed. "That’s exactly the case. All your cultivation, actions, achievements, techniques, and so on and so forth are put together when your body is destroyed and then rebuilt. Do you want to assess your aptitudes now?"

*Ouch...*

"Will it change anything if we do it while we are in this state?" Rean asked.

"Not really," Corpar assured. Then he pulled out a device that looked like a pentagon. "Who goes first?"

"How does the test even work?" Kentucky asked out of curiosity.

"It is pretty simple. It is all about colors, something that you guys likely experienced when you started your cultivation journey back in your Great Void. It’s just that here we have only five colors," Corpar explained. "The first color is gray. It is the lowest aptitude, which, believe it or not, is already very good."

"Then you have Yellow, Red, Purple, and Gold. Those are the five aptitudes of the Celestial Plane."

"Wait, you mentioned that the worst aptitude is already very good?" Rean asked back. It didn’t seem to make much sense. "How come?"

Corpar expected that question. "That’s exactly what I meant. You see, countless more living beings are born in the Celestial Plan than there are living beings who ascend into it. To be born doesn’t mean we need to be good here."

"However, to ascend to the Celestial Plane? Now, that is another story altogether. No piece of shit ever gets to ascend. It is always experts at the very top of their own Great Voids, those who have overcome all challenges. The Buffer Zones are watched very closely by the powers around them because they know only real geniuses will appear in there."

"So, although Gray Color is considered the worst aptitude from ascenders, it is still highly sought after. Any power that rejects a Gray Color aptitude in an ascender will be seen as nothing but a bunch of morons. Of course, if your aptitude is higher than gray, the powers controlling the Buffer Zones will put even more effort into getting you."

Roan thought about it. "What about the aptitude of the beings who are born in the Celestial Plane? Do they follow the same system?"

"They do," Corpar confirmed. "I, for example, am someone from the Celestial Plane, and I have Yellow Color aptitude. Yes, you probably guessed it already. We have plenty of Gray Color aptitudes, but they are not even considered compared to Gray Color experts from the Great Void."

"To make a comparison, the sects, clans, organizations, and such would rather take in a Gray Color from the Great Voids than take a Red Color from our own Celestial Plane. That ascender Gray Color is almost guaranteed to make up for his lack of talent with experience, strength, knowledge, and so on. He did ascend in the end, after all."

Kentucky finally felt his pain diminishing a little and tried to get up. "I’ll try the aptitude test fir-"

However, it was then that he noticed. "Hum? Something feels wrong with my cultivation."

"Oh, that!" Porcar quickly explained. "You are not wrong. Your cultivation is different here compared to the Great Voids. Don’t get me wrong, you are, without a doubt, a Peak Stage Celestial Realm Expert. It’s just that such a realm is what we call ’mortals’ here."
