Chapter 4248: Much To Learn
With the support of the Arrays and the addition of the Zone Gods to deter the Godly Predators, the cultivators gained more and more ground. It reached a point where there were simply no more Godly Creatures coming. Let’s not forget that the Godly Creatures aren’t only attacking this place, but various other locations along this side of the border, a total of six countries.
Eventually, the first Godly Predator was taken down, and then the second, third, fourth... Not a single Zone Gone was killed. Just one of them was injured, but nothing serious. With the overwhelming number of Zone Gods against the remaining three Godly Predators, the battle was decided.
*Roarrr!!!*
At that moment, a Roar was heard from afar, which caught everyone’s attention. The remaining three Godly Predators immediately answered, turning around and dashing back into the Godly Creature Territores.
Roan narrowed his eyes, kicking the body of another Godly Spawn away that he had just killed. "Aren’t they supposed to have no intelligence? That seemed quite like the sound of retreat."
Rean looked around and could see that there were just a few Godly Creatures remaining in their area, and even those were trying to flee, ignoring all the attacks. They would die soon, so he didn’t make a move. "That is not guaranteed, now is it? Perhaps it was simply instinct. Even mindless animals will flee if they see they are in danger."
Roan had his doubts, but he couldn’t deny Rean’s theory either. Following that, he connected to his Ring Communicator, taking a look at the network and the state of the fights over the various zones. Roan still had the feeling that the Godly Creatures’ behavior was too complex for beings without intelligence, but he couldn’t prove it. "Whatever. Seems like most of the zones are also reaching the end of their battles. Various already succeeded in fending off the Godly Creatures."
"Seniors!" Clayton finally caught up to Rean and Roan again. He was holding a spear, half-broken, proof he also took the invasions seriously. "Are you okay? Charging like that into the creatures is too dangerous."
Rean patted the youngster’s head. "Hahah! We are fine, we are fine. Even without a Pocket Dimensional Realm, Roan and I were more than capable of escaping if things had turned bad."
Clayton quickly stepped back, his expression somewhat angry. "Senior, I’m not a kid. Please refrain from treating me like that."
Rean shrugged but didn’t mind. Compared to Clayton’s sixteen years of age, he was already another old monster. For Rean, saying that Clayton was born yesterday wasn’t too much of a stretch.
The Zone Gods watched as the three Godly Predators disappeared into the distance with the Godly Spawns and Beasts that managed to survive. None of the Zone Gods tried to run after those Godly Creatures, as they knew that the ultimate priority was to protect the Besgol Region, not to kill them.
Besides, they knew that the roar they heard earlier was very likely from a Godly Horror, something that they stood no chance against if they left the protection of the Arrays. Only the two Law Gods of their region could do something against a Godly Horror once you enter the Godly Creatures’ Territories.
Kavile and the other Zone Gods immediately came down from the sky once the Predators left their sight. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to continue to fly, but that flying as Zone Gods spends a ridiculous amount of energy. Law Gods themselves would refrain from flying unless it was really necessary.
Roan noticed this point. Although the Zone Gods could fly during the fight against the Predators, they only took flight when the situation demanded. Most of the duration of the battle against them was actually done on the ground. No Zone God spent more than a minute or so total in the sky, and they quickly came down.
There were still a few battles here and there, but they were concluded in the next thirty minutes. No one moved from their positions, though. The army of cultivators held their ground for the following five hours, and tension was high.
Clayton explained to the twins that it wasn’t anything rare for the first attack to be just the start, and a second, stronger wave of Godly Creatures to follow after that.
Fortunately, it seemed like it wasn’t the case this time. Kavile and the other Zone Gods received reports from the sentries that no other Godly Creature Waves appeared, and the same was the case for the various other zones.
Only after confirming it did the Godly Subjugation Guild pass the news to everyone’s RCs.
-The Assault on the North-Northwest Border has been suppressed with minimal casualties. The cleaning teams are on the way. Thank you to all the cultivators for their support. The Godly Crystal Distribution System will soon post everyone’s contributions and your rewards according to your performances.-
The tension in the air finally diminished, and the frontlines began to part ways. Although you could see some sad expressions, most of the cultivators who fought in the front lines seemed quite happy. They were obviously the ones who killed most of the Godly Creatures, so their rewards were bound to be pretty good.
According to the Guild, the assault had around four times more Godly Creatures compared to the cultivators, but that was one of the easiest types. Thanks to the lack of intelligence and the arrays, the cultivators got quite an overwhelming victory.
Four times the number of cultivators seemed a lot, but the really dangerous attacks could have up to ten times the number of cultivators defending the lines. So, yes, four times were among the easiest to fend off. When the harder attacks happened, you could actually have more Godly Predators attacking than Zone Gods defending against them.
"Seniors, let’s go back to the Guild," said Clayton.
Gootiu joined them a moment later. "How long has it been since I last felt danger..." As a Peak Celestial Realm Spirit, he had been at the top of his Great Void for a very long time.
Rean smiled, though. "Think about it as going back to one’s roots. But now you have all your experience, so you should fare better than when you started your cultivation life."
"Well, that’s true..." Gootiu’s mood improved a little with Rean’s words.
Although most of the cultivators began to leave the area, quite a few stayed behind. The border was never left completely empty, and those who stayed were the ones on duty there.
The twins boarded another plane from the guild, along with many other experts, and only then did they finally return. There was much to learn still.
