Chapter 4262: One Point?
"Hum?" Celis couldn’t help but notice one thing. "Wait, did you just say Besgol Region now has a ’chance’? Is it not safe? It just got a chance? Is it still going to be destroyed somehow?"
[After reading the Destiny Shift, which is something I can only do when the shift is big, like what you guys did, it seemed like it was the case. It’s just that now it is not guaranteed. Don’t ask me what will happen. Reading into the Destiny Shift doesn’t go that far. However, it did look like a very good chance.]
"Karma, uh..." Rean and the others understood. It was more of a reading into the threads of karma, which was connected to destiny and fate. It was pretty much the same as how the Soul Gem System worked in the past before they went to the Werdlem Empire.
In the end, Roan just shook his head. "Nothing we can do about this chance or whatever. I can see why we got just 12 Orb Points. It’s because we likely can’t make anything about what will happen next. We are only Initial Stage Anchor Gods. Our power is extremely limited. We are almost the same as what you would call mortals in this Celestial Plane. A single Aura God would likely trash us."
[There is that too. You were just the trigger to a situation you just can’t do much about. Of course, if you do cause another shift in favor of Besgol’s survival, then it is likely you will get quite a good amount of Orb Points.]
"We will see..." Roan decided to change the topic. "Now, what about the Orb Points, Sister Orb. You said you were working on a way for us to get them."
[Hehe! That you are correct. You see, now that I’m a system, I understand how the Soul Gem System and the Celestial Soul System initiated quests. Thanks to that, I can now create quests, but I can’t just create anything. There are four factors I must take into consideration when creating a quest, or maybe not really creating.]
[First, the danger and difficulty factor. For example, if I suddenly create a quest for you to walk out of your home, I can, but you won’t get a single Orb Point as a reward. However, if I create a quest for you guys to take down a certain number of Level Two Godly Creatures, aka Godly Beasts, you can gain a point due to their difficulty. Naturally, it will only count if you do it outside the Sacred Relic’s influence. Inside the influence, it becomes easier and thus won’t give any points unless you kill many more to compensate.]
[The second is the Destiny Shift Factor. How much the quest influences the destiny of an area, the beings in there, and so on. Let me give you another example. I just mentioned that if you kill a certain number of Godly Beasts, you could gain a point depending on the difficulty of the task. If you kill them while, let’s say, defending a very important location in the Begol Region, you will obviously largely change the destiny that would befall that area. That could end up giving you two points. The difficulty hasn’t changed, but the outcome definitely did.]
[Third: the Initiative Factor.] Rean and the others waited as Sister Orb spoke in a slightly smug tone. [Simply put, it depends on whether the quest was your choice... or just something you were forced into.]
Celis was curious. "Choice?"
[Exactly!] Sister Orb replied. [If danger comes to you and you are forced to defend yourselves, you may still gain Orb Points depending on the difficulty and Destiny Shift. However, if you willingly seek out danger, prepare for it, and take the initiative to change fate before it unfolds... the reward will be higher.]
Roan narrowed his eyes slightly. "So reacting gives rewards... but acting first gives more."
[Correct!] Sister Orb sounded quite pleased. [The system favors those who take control of destiny instead of simply surviving it. After all, those who move first are the ones most likely to reshape fate.]
Rean nodded slowly. "That makes sense... If we only waited for danger to appear, we would always be behind."
[Precisely!] Sister Orb was feeling pretty good with herself. [If you discover a threat before it happens and choose to act on your own initiative, the Initiative Factor increases the final reward calculation. In simple terms... the more you take fate into your own hands, the more Orb Points you can earn.]
Rean couldn’t help but feel a sense of deja vu. "It is basically the Soul Gem System, but we know exactly how it works... and can now initiate our own quests."
[Fourth and last factor: Number of quests and cooldown. I can’t have more than one quest at a given time... that I created myself. I’m not sure if this limit will change in the future, but for now, a single quest is the limit.]
"You mentioned quests that you created," Roan pointed out.
[I did indeed.] Sister Orb continued. [Since I’m also sensitive to Destiny Shifts, new quests can pop out on their own depending on the situation. These quests have no limit on how many can be active at the same time. Think of it as another category, one we always had, and that is still present now. It’s just that we’ve now added a new category: the purposely created quests category.]
[As for cooldown, after a created quest is concluded, no new one can be added for a certain period of time. The cooldown time depends on the various factors regarding the previous quest itself. Well, the simpler, the lower the cooldown.]
That was a very detailed explanation that didn’t leave much room for doubt. "Alright... and what are you planning to create first?"
[Well, I think it would be good to start with something simpler. The Godly Beasts’ Hunt is not a bad choice, now is it? How does it sound?]
For a test run, no one there had any complaints. "Alright, give it a try and let’s see what comes out."
*Pin!*
[Godly Creatures are always a danger to the various regions of the Celestial Plane. Reducing their numbers is not only useful to one’s training but also to the future of the region.]
[New Quest Available.]
[Hunt 100 Godly Beasts (200 if inside an area under the influence of a Sacred Relic)]
[Reward: 01 Orb Point.]
The twins’ group didn’t look very happy. "ONE POINT?!"
[Any less than it, and you wouldn’t gain any points at all. It is all based on the factors I mentioned before.]
"Sigh..." Roan decided to ignore it for now. "Forget that. Let’s check that new System Upgrade that the useless orb mentioned earlier."
[Rude!]
"I don’t remember intending to be polite anyway," Roan answered.
