Chapter 4468: Learn the Lesson
What could one expect? Everyone had already confirmed that she didn’t even possess the strength of a single Godly Spawn, not even a tenth of it. She might have eaten that Godly Predator Crystal and improved quite a bit afterward, but would one Godly Predator Crystal really be enough to allow her to fight a Godly Beast?
Ha!
What a joke!
If a single Godly Predator Crystal were enough to accomplish something like that, most of the Predator Crystals acquired in Besgol would likely have been distributed to the Anchor Gods. After all, wouldn’t that allow them to jump straight into the Aura God Realm?
Wrong!
It would already be quite good if a Godly Predator Crystal provided enough energy for a single cultivation stage, let alone an entire cultivation realm. The amount of Godly Energy required for a breakthrough increased with every stage, and the difference between the Anchor God Realm and the Aura God Realm was even greater. No one could simply consume one crystal and expect to gain an entire realm of cultivation.
So... yeah. The little fox, who didn’t seem to have the slightest understanding of her own strength, lost miserably in that exchange.
—
The fox shot backward like a bullet, the flames surrounding her body disappearing in the process. Rean immediately flew out of the airplane and caught her in midair before she could crash into the lake. He quickly checked her condition, expecting the worst after seeing her take the Godly Beast’s attack head-on.
Yet, much to his surprise, she wasn’t dead.
*Raw...r...*
Rean sighed in relief after hearing her weak cry. "You idiot. You sensed the Godly Crystal inside that Godly Beast and tried to take it for yourself, didn’t you? You obviously don’t know your own strength."
The fox weakly moved one of her tails, but she didn’t seem capable of arguing back. Her entire body was covered in injuries, and several of her bones had been broken. Fortunately, Rean could still feel her life force, and it remained surprisingly stable despite the damage she had suffered.
’Life Style, Instant Recovery!’
A burst of Light Element immediately entered the fox’s body. Rean carefully controlled the energy as it spread through her flesh, mending broken bones, repairing damaged organs, and closing the many wounds covering her body. However, the healing process took much longer than he had expected.
"Hm?" Rean narrowed his eyes while continuing to circulate his energy. "That’s truly a weird bloodline you have there..."
He could clearly feel the Light Element working, but her body reacted differently from that of any ordinary Demon Beast or cultivator he had healed before. Some of the energy seemed to be absorbed by her body before it could reach the injured areas, while other parts were redirected toward her eyes. It wasn’t enough to interfere with the healing, but it slowed the process considerably.
"Your body is almost acting as if it doesn’t know what to do with my energy," Rean murmured. "Or perhaps it is trying to use everything it receives for something else. Whatever the case, you really are a strange little girl."
Celis arrived by his side a few minutes later. By then, the lake below had become unusually quiet. He hadn’t killed every Godly Creature Fish inside, but after watching Celis slaughter so many members of their race, the survivors had realized that continuing to fight would only lead to their deaths. They had all dived to the bottom of the lake and hidden among the rocks and aquatic plants, hoping the terrifying World Swallowing Cedar would leave them alone.
It wasn’t a problem. Celis had already collected all the materials required by the mission, so there was no reason for them to remain in the area. They could return to Besgol whenever they wanted.
"She was hit head-on by that Godly Beast," Celis commented as he looked at the fox. "I’m impressed that she survived at all. Even many Initial Stage Anchor Gods would have died from an attack like that if they didn’t have enough time to defend themselves."
Rean agreed. He continued healing the fox for several more minutes until her injuries had mostly disappeared. Once he was certain that her internal organs and bones had recovered, he lifted her by the arms and looked directly into her mismatched eyes.
"He is correct. Let this be your lesson," Rean said. "I’ll give you a few Godly Spawn Crystals every now and then, so be a good girl and don’t do something this stupid again."
The little girl immediately seemed to dislike those words.
*Rawr!*
Celis somehow understood the meaning behind her protest. "This piece of shit is complaining that Godly Spawn Crystals aren’t enough."
Rean stared at the fox for a moment before laughing. "Hahaha! It does look like that, doesn’t it? You ate one Godly Predator Crystal and immediately decided that Godly Spawn Crystals were beneath you?"
*Rawr!*
The fox moved her head as if she were agreeing with him. Apparently, after experiencing the incredible amount of Godly Energy contained inside a Godly Predator Crystal, she had lost all interest in the much weaker crystals of ordinary Godly Spawns.
"Alright, then," Rean said with a mischievous smile. "If you don’t like the crystals I give you, how about you hunt your own Godly Crystals? You want stronger crystals? Then you should earn them yourself. But first..."
He turned to Celis. "Let’s go to the Krik Locusts’ territory. It isn’t far from here, and there are plenty of them. They’re weak Godly Spawns, so she should be able to handle a few. It will also teach her that obtaining Godly Crystals isn’t as easy as opening her mouth and waiting for someone to feed her."
Celis quite liked the idea. "Indeed. Let’s go there. Little girl, you had better give it your all if you don’t want to become their food instead."
*Rawr!*
However, instead of becoming worried, the little girl seemed even more confident after hearing that. She stood on Rean’s hand, raised her head, and proudly puffed out her chest as if a few weak Godly Spawns could never possibly threaten her.
"I truly wonder where that confidence comes from..." Rean shook his head in resignation. "You were almost killed a few minutes ago, and you already forgot everything that happened."
The fox ignored him and simply pointed in the direction they needed to go. She obviously wanted to reach the Krik Locusts’ territory as soon as possible.
