Chapter 4505: Knowledge

In Dlaval City, Zikan-Tuio of the Fuhuo Clan returned to the clan’s estate and immediately started an investigation.

"It will be hard to check anything in the other four sections, but try to see if you can find the identities of any new Law Gods," Zikan said. "He said his name was Arcis, so you can start with that. He was a Zone God recently, so this information might be of some use."

One of the clan’s subordinates accepted the order. "Yes, Elder Zikan. However, it is very difficult to get information on Law Gods, especially if they are new. As for Zone Gods, there are simply too many to count. If this Arcis really came from another section, and especially if he had no relation to any of the big powers, I wouldn’t hold much hope of finding anything useful."

Dlaval wasn’t exactly a medieval place. It was just that most of its technology was held by the big powers, and that included advancements in the various sub-occupations as well. For example, it was very difficult to find any alchemist, array master, talisman master, blacksmith, or similar professional that wasn’t part of or deeply connected to a major power.

The knowledge itself was often treated as something worth protecting, so it wasn’t as if independent masters could simply develop freely and spread their discoveries throughout the city. This place was truly the polar opposite to the regions outside Woster where almost everything was shared.

Coyui was a good example of someone without any meaningful allegiance. When he met the twins’ group, he knew nothing about arrays at all. He knew they existed in various places, but that was the extent of his knowledge. Someone like him could survive without belonging to a major force, but that also meant he had access to very little of the advanced knowledge that circulated among those powers.

In any case, the level of the masters in Dlaval was definitely far, far below that of any common master in the Besgol Region, for example. Woster had been isolated for far too long, and that isolation had caused its development to fall considerably behind.

That also meant Dlaval didn’t have any kind of integrated identification system. You couldn’t simply ask someone in the government to pull up the information of a cultivator because there simply wasn’t anywhere to pull it from. In fact, there wasn’t even a government.

The closest thing to one was the Rosvelt Sect at the center, but even they wouldn’t be able to obtain information about everyone living in the city. Their influence might extend throughout Dlaval, but that didn’t mean they had complete control over every individual and organization.

That said, there were plenty of cultivators in Dlaval who simply kept a low profile throughout their lives. No one would be able to tell if they were actually some high-level expert. We can’t forget that Celestial and Godly Senses don’t work here, so checking someone’s cultivation through them was impossible. Direct contact was a must, and the other side could simply block it if they wanted.

That was also why everyone believed the average number of Law Gods in the City Prison of Woster was above three thousand, but no one knew the exact number. It might actually surpass four thousand, maybe five, maybe even six... It was impossible to tell. It was especially difficult to determine the number when considering the organizations of all sizes that purposely kept their hidden cards concealed.

Some of those organizations might have Law Gods that had never appeared publicly, and there was no convenient way for outsiders to discover them. In a place where even one’s cultivation could be concealed so easily, information about the strongest experts was naturally even harder to obtain.

Of course, Zikan was aware of all that. "I know, but give it a try anyway."

Zikan wouldn’t normally pay much attention to such a matter. However, after hearing Fariu’s report about the Red-Golden Flames, he felt there was something more to the situation. He had never heard of anyone using that kind of power. He had even considered the possibility of trying to force the truth out of Arcis’s group.

However, with Roan and the others also there, he gave up on that idea. Arcis definitely had more Zone Gods at that moment. Arcis might be a new Law God, but a Law God was still a Law God. Even if there were thousands of them in Dlaval, the entire city and all the settlements, both near and far, combined had around a hundred billion residents, give or take. Law Gods were still extremely rare in their own right. Defeating Arcis might be possible, but killing him was another matter altogether.

It looked like a lot of residents, but it really wasn’t. The Besgol Region alone definitely had far more residents than that; let’s not even count the total number of residents in all the regions Besgol could get in contact with. Besides, Woster was supposed to have been some kind of gigantic prison back in ancient times, so its enormous size wasn’t particularly surprising.

If Zikan made Arcis an enemy and Arcis decided to target his clan members for revenge, stopping him would be very difficult, especially since he had already seen that Arcis was a Demon Bird. He could fly for as long as he wished, making him particularly troublesome to deal with. The point was that it simply wasn’t worth making an enemy of Arcis without a very good reason.

Last but not least, it was pretty obvious that whatever had happened in that place was something Arcis’s group had been involved with from the very beginning. That was their problem, and Zikan would be the one meddling in it without even knowing if there was anything to gain.

Given the circumstances, Zikan ultimately decided it would be better to recruit Arcis instead and wait to see how things developed. If Arcis truly was a new Law God without any backing, recruiting him could only benefit the Fuhuo Clan.

"If that new Law God comes to see me, make sure to let me know. Any new Law God will be more than welcome to join the clan," Zikan finished.

"Yes, Elder Zikan."

Back on the twins’ group’s side, they wanted to be forgotten and avoid catching anyone’s attention. So, whenever anyone went out, they were even more careful than before, trying to stay away from any cultivators from Dlaval as much as possible. After attracting so much attention with Luxa’s breakthrough, they definitely didn’t want another incident forcing them into the spotlight.

A few weeks after their encounter with Zikan, Rean and Roan went out with Kentucky and Celis, bringing Luxa with them. They wanted to test Luxa’s newly acquired strength more thoroughly and see exactly how much she had improved after gaining her third tail.

It turned out Luxa had been right. She could definitely fight and even kill any of the stronger Godly Beasts, and when they encountered a Godly Predator, she was able to put up a fight, albeit only for a short time. In the end, their group still had to work together to finish that Godly Predator.

Even so, Luxa had clearly become much stronger. Before her evolution, they could only estimate her strength based on the Godly Creatures she could hunt. Now, they had a much clearer idea of just how significant the appearance of her third tail had been. If she continued evolving at this pace, her future strength could become difficult for even the twins’ group to predict.

Their own investigations continued...

They hadn’t gone to the city very often. In fact, they hadn’t even entered it once so far. However, they had explored quite a bit of the Godly Creatures’ Territories to the west inside Woster.

Things here truly played out very differently. Cultivators had no fear of traveling far away from the city, even though the deeper areas were filled with dangerous Godly Creatures. Back in Besgol, Godly Predators were extremely troublesome creatures to deal with. They were also relatively rare, making every encounter with one a serious matter.

Here, however, the story was completely different.

There were simply way too many Zone Gods.

Besgol was known for having a few hundred Zone Gods. What about Dlaval and Woster as a whole?

They were in the hundreds of thousands!

It seemed that the Godly Creatures had responded to that enormous population of powerful cultivators in their own way. Godly Predators were nothing particularly difficult to find in the deeper areas of Woster, and they were actively hunted nonstop by all those Zone Gods.

The deeper they traveled, the more obvious this became. They could occasionally find traces of enormous battles left behind by cultivators and Godly Creatures, with entire stretches of land destroyed in the process. Sometimes, they would even encounter groups of cultivators hunting together, clearly treating creatures that would have been considered terrifying opponents back in Besgol as nothing more than valuable prey.

In a way, the abundance of powerful cultivators had created an equally abundant supply of powerful Godly Creatures. It was a completely different ecosystem from what the twins’ group had grown accustomed to in Besgol.

And, for better or worse, it was one more reason why they needed to remain cautious. In a place with so many Zone Gods and Godly Predators, even a relatively small disturbance could attract the attention of someone they absolutely didn’t want to meet.
