Death… And Me

Chapter 4515: Picing Everything Together

Chapter 4515: Picing Everything Together

It was never the same cultivator who was seen at the various pillars, though. Sometimes it was a Devil; other times it was a humanoid. There was even a Demon Beast or two among the reports. That made the interested parties pretty skeptical about what was happening.

It would be one thing if it was the same cultivator appearing at every pillar. At least then they could assume that the person had some special purpose or ability related to the Goodbye World Pillars. But several completely different cultivators were suddenly doing the exact same thing? That seemed sketchy, to say the least.

Eventually, a few cultivators were specifically put to watch the pillars. They wanted to confirm the reports with their own eyes rather than continue relying on rumors spreading throughout the city. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before another cultivator appeared, casually approaching one of the pillars and touching it.

The cultivator remained there for a few seconds, completely still. He didn’t struggle, shout, or show any obvious reaction. From the perspective of those watching, it looked exactly like someone who had just lost his soul to the pillar.

The observers waited for him to collapse, but nothing happened. One second passed, then another. Finally, before they could even approach to confirm whether he had died, the cultivator opened his eyes and calmly walked away.

"After him!" one of the cultivators watching suddenly shouted.

They had to confirm what was happening. If the reports were true, then something unprecedented was happening to the Goodbye World Pillars, and they couldn’t simply allow whoever was behind it to disappear.

Several cultivators immediately rushed after the man. Unfortunately, as quickly as he had appeared, he disappeared into the crowd. They searched the surrounding streets and questioned a few people, but there was no sign of him anywhere.

And, based on the previous reports, this cultivator was different from all the others who had supposedly survived the pillars. It was as if a group of individuals was deliberately working on the Goodbye World Pillars together.

The more they investigated, the stranger the situation became.

Roan’s appearance changed again, and he soon came out onto the street, glancing at a group of cultivators passing by in a hurry. He recognized them. He didn’t know who they were, but for him, it was just way too easy to detect when someone was following or trying to catch him.

"Hmph!"

A group of cultivators? Devils? Humanoids? Demon Beasts?

Ha!

It was none of that.

They were all Roan.

Every time he checked another Goodbye World Pillar, Roan assumed a different appearance. Sometimes he became a humanoid, sometimes a Devil, and sometimes a Demon Beast. He had no intention of letting anyone realize that the same person was behind all these incidents. Fortunately, with his Body Transformation Skill, changing his appearance wasn’t difficult at all.

More importantly, Sister Orb blocked the soul absorption attempt every single time he touched the pillars.

The first time had been an experiment, but after discovering that the system could protect him from the pillar’s ability, Roan immediately realized that he could use this opportunity to investigate further. Every pillar seemed to have a connection to the same mysterious place, and if he could enter that space repeatedly, perhaps he could gradually piece together what it was.

Those attempts did have some results, in fact.

Roan’s mind went into that same space time and time again, and he tried to acquire as many clues as possible during those brief moments. Unfortunately, the experience never lasted more than a few seconds. The instant he entered that strange space, he could see the enormous Navy-Blue and Golden Womb, but before he could properly explore it, he would be pulled back.

Still, those few seconds were enough for him to notice more details each time.

As for what he had gotten from it, the most important thing was an increasingly clear idea of how that space worked.

’So you’re saying that what that womb is absorbing is the Yin Energy of dead souls?’ Rean asked through their soul connection.

’Indeed,’ Roan confirmed as he moved toward the next pillar. This time, he decided to leave the northern area and go to the east of Dlaval City. ’The Yin Energy of a dead soul is one of the purest and richest forms of Yin Energy you can find: The Yin of Death.’

Roan’s expression remained cold as he continued walking through the crowded streets. To everyone around him, he was simply another cultivator going about his business. No one would have guessed that he had already touched several of the most dangerous objects in the entire city.

’You saw how Fire Element and Yang Energy nurtured Luxa in her own womb outside, right?’ Roan continued. ’It is the same thing here, but on the opposite spectrum. I haven’t seen the entirety of Woster, but I’m pretty sure there aren’t many places where you can obtain Yin Energy in sufficient quantities, much less in a high enough quality. As for the places where you can find it, it is likely pretty bad and unsuitable for the womb.’

He continued. ’Luxa absorbed the Yang Energy from the mantle far, far below. As far as quantity and quality go, she would hardly find anything better. The Woster Womb doesn’t have such a nice place to obtain Yin Energy instead, though. In the end, the Yin of Death, which is basically just Yin Energy in an extremely pure form, was the only way it could obtain the necessary amount and quality it needed.’

Back on Rean’s side, Luxa was still sitting on his shoulder, so sending a Godly Sense Message to her was simple. Rean glanced at the little fox before speaking through the sense.

’Luxa, that other womb seems to be the opposite of you, but also connected to you somehow. Are you sure you don’t know anything about it?’

Luxa shook her little head.

*Rawr...*

’No, I do not know. Sorry, Rean.’

Rean smiled gently. ’It is fine.’

Roan didn’t mind Luxa’s answer and went back to his theory. ’Now, the Pillar absorbs the soul of anyone who touches it, turning it into a Dead Soul. Then, those Navy-Blue and Golden Threads absorb the Yin Energy they naturally generate, sending it to the womb.’

’That is not the only way, right?’ Celis joined the conversation. ’The Ghost of Woster. It seems to also be one of the ways the womb is using to obtain Yin Energy. After all, everyone says it kills any expert who tries to leave Woster. That means you have the Goodbye World Pillars and the Ghost.’

Roan pondered for a moment.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up.

’No! There is only one way!’
