Chapter 4558: Their Word
That was something that had always bothered Rean. Just how long had Luxa been in that nurturing state before he found her? She had remained inside her own womb for who knew how many years, perhaps even much longer, and then, because of the presence of his Yang Energy, she had suddenly awakened and been born.
The timing was simply too much of a coincidence for Rean to ignore. He highly doubted that Luxa had already completed her development inside her womb back then. If she had, there should have been no reason for his Yang Energy to have such an effect on her. She would be out already, and he wouldn’t have found her in the first place.
Now that Luxa could feel the Navy-Blue and Golden Womb’s anger due to the loss of its Yin Energy source, Rean became even more certain of his theory. Luxa had been unable to awaken on her own, yet his Yang Energy had provided the final push she needed.
If that was indeed how it worked, then this other Womb should have a similar requirement. The difference was that instead of Yang Energy, it needed Yin Energy... and there was only one person in their group who possessed Yin Energy pure enough to satisfy such a requirement.
—
Roan’s Yin Energy passed through the twins’ connection and quickly reached Rean. The atmosphere inside the sealed space immediately changed. The surroundings seemed to plunge into an endless winter. The Yin Energy passed through Rean’s projected hand and made direct contact with the Womb through the opening he had created earlier.
*Tum-dum, tum-dum, tum-dum...*
The Womb responded almost immediately.
The Yin Energy was absorbed with astonishing speed, as if there was no tomorrow. Rean could clearly feel the difference in the Womb’s reaction, while Luxa, whose connection to this thing was much more profound, sensed it even more clearly.
’It is calming down...’ Luxa said.
Rean faintly smiled. His theory was correct. So... he cut off the Yin Energy. He wasn’t going to give the Womb even a single iota of Yin Energy anymore!
The reaction was instantaneous. The Godly Energy inside the sealed space suddenly surged toward Rean, as if the entire place had become hostile to him at once. Rean completely ignored the pressure, however, and instead laughed out loud.
"Hahaha! Do you want more? Then stop hiding there! Take a look at your big sister and grow some backbone! Come out and seek this Yin Energy yourself!"
Rean remained still. There was no need for him to worry about his physical body because this was only his projection inside the sealed space. More importantly, his actual soul was perfectly safe with the Orb System and Sister Orb protecting it.
Rean knew that the being inside the Womb couldn’t understand his words. It had no developed consciousness and couldn’t comprehend the meaning behind his provocation. However, understanding words wasn’t what Rean was betting on.
The being could still feel intent, and that was enough. He was betting that it would understand the intent behind his actions even if it couldn’t understand the language. More importantly, he was betting on something even simpler: it would never be able to forget Roan’s Yin Energy after tasting it!
There was no Yin Energy purer than Roan’s. At most, another source could perhaps match its purity, but nothing could surpass it.
*Crack!*
A crack appeared across the Womb, right in the middle.
Rean’s eyes narrowed as he watched it.
Whether the reaction was caused by his provocation or because the being inside had already developed an instinctive desire for Roan’s Yin Energy, Rean couldn’t tell. Either way, the result was exactly what he wanted. The being wanted more, just as Luxa had wanted Rean’s Yang Energy when she was awakened.
’It really is just like Luxa’s womb,’ Rean thought.
When the twins’ group had found Luxa’s Womb, it had been split by a crack running directly through the middle. This Womb was no different. The single crack widened rapidly, and powerful Godly Energy mixed with an extremely frigid Yin Energy began bursting through the opening as the being inside struggled to emerge.
Rean ignored the violent energy fluctuations. They weren’t what mattered to him. What mattered was the other energy trying to stop it.
’Good thing I kept a tiny piece of Azerion’s soul to hold the array around the Womb together.’
Rean immediately seized the opportunity and pressed his projected hand against the Womb once again. This time, however, he didn’t send Roan’s Yin Energy into it. Doing so would defeat the entire purpose of his plan. If the being inside received another large supply of Yin Energy, it might simply remain where it was instead of taking the risk of coming out.
They needed it to leave through the opening in the array. And there was a reason Rean specifically wanted it to use that opening.
The idea had actually come from Celis. Celis expected that most, if not all, of the Goslau Great Void Echo would be concentrated around that exact location. The Echo was desperately trying to prevent the being inside the Womb from being born.
As mentioned before, the Goslau Great Void Echo was NOT generated by the being inside the Navy-Blue and Golden Womb. The Womb was more like Woster’s Sacred Relic, serving as the bridge between the Goslau Great Void Echo and the Celestial Plane. Without the Womb, there would be no stable connection to the Echo, and without that connection, the ancient array itself would eventually lose its purpose.
Therefore, the array had to stop the Womb’s being from leaving. It was essentially a safety mechanism built into the entire system. And that was exactly what made Rean’s opening so useful.
With the Echo concentrated around the damaged section of the array, Sister Orb would have a much easier time absorbing it. Even if Azerion himself had still been awake and attempted to stop Rean from taking the Echo, the sheer amount concentrated there would have been too much for him to control properly.
Of course, Rean hadn’t expected the being inside the Womb to also interfere with Sister Orb’s absorption. Nonetheless, the hole ended up serving the same purpose. It simply wasn’t being used against Azerion.
’Sister Orb!’
[On it!]
Sister Orb immediately began absorbing the Goslau Great Void Echo through the opening.
[It is working! However, it is fairly slow. The being inside the Womb doesn’t seem to be putting too much effort into coming out. The array is managing to stop it, even with our intervention.]
*Rawr!*
’Rean, your Yin Energy is still no good!’ Luxa suddenly said. Rean had obviously been sharing everything he experienced with her through Godly Sense.
Rean narrowed his eyes as he understood. Yes, he was using Roan’s Yin Energy, and it was the purest Yin Energy they could possibly obtain, but there was still a fundamental difference.
Rean wasn’t truly the source.
The Yin Energy passing through their soul connection was ultimately being transmitted from Roan. No matter how pure it remained during the transfer, it could never feel exactly the same as being directly exposed by Roan himself. Luxa’s reaction was proof of that. She had recognized the difference immediately, which only reinforced Rean’s original theory that his own presence had been the reason Luxa awakened back then.
The problem was that Roan wasn’t here.
Or...
Wasn’t he?
A faint smile appeared on Rean’s face as he suddenly felt a familiar presence approaching the Rosvelt Sect at an astonishing speed.
—
Roan had his cultivation sealed, and several High-Elders of the Rosvelt Sect were escorting him back toward the sect. His situation looked rather miserable from the outside, especially with so many Law Gods surrounding him and keeping him under close watch. The Rosvelt Sect considered his existence important enough that even the Sect Master himself was following the entourage.
But why hadn’t they simply killed him?
Because they couldn’t.
The Rosvelt Sect wanted to capture the outsiders not only to discover a possible way out of Woster but also to gain control over that method. An escape route from Woster was worth way too much.
If they could learn how the teleportation method worked and control it themselves, the Rosvelt Sect could potentially change the fate of everyone within Woster. Naturally, they also intended to force Roan to reveal where his companions were hiding and what exactly they had come to Woster to obtain.
So why had Roan allowed himself to be captured in the first place?
Because, just like Rean, Roan never went back on his word.
Roan had agreed to tell the sect everything, but only under one condition: they had to allow him to see a certain cultivator called Coyui!
And where was Coyui?
Inside the Rosvelt Sect!
Coincidentally, that was exactly where Rean needed Roan to be.
Just like Luxa, the being inside the Womb needed to be close enough to directly sense Roan’s Yin Energy. Rean could transmit Roan’s energy through their soul connection, but apparently, that wasn’t enough to fully satisfy the immature being. If Roan himself approached, however, the difference should be unmistakable. It now knew what to look for. Roan just had to be in range of its detection.
With so many Law Gods escorting him, it took no more than a few minutes for Roan to arrive at the Rosvelt Sect.
The instant he crossed into the vicinity of the sect, something changed in the underground space.
Sure enough, thanks to the opening Rean had created in the ancient array, the being inside the Womb finally sensed Roan’s Yin Energy directly.
The reaction was immediate.
Sister Orb’s absorption of the Goslau Great Void Echo suddenly increased several times over, while the being inside the Womb began struggling with far greater intensity to break through the ancient array. It did not try to stop Sister Orb.
Then...
