Death… And Me

Chapter 4577: Show of Power

Chapter 4577: Show of Power

"You seem very relaxed for someone completely surrounded, uh?" Soza said with a dark expression. "I don’t know how you got here, but don’t think you can leave anymore. And Fila! You’d better be prepared to hear an earful from me later!"

Finally, Soza pointed toward Rean. "Seize them!"

However, even though he gave the order, no one moved. Soza kept his hand pointed at Rean, waiting for his companions to capture him, but a puzzled expression soon replaced his anger. He turned toward the experts from the Celestial Plane who stood beside him, only to find all six of them standing perfectly still, their bodies completely motionless.

No, they weren’t merely standing still.

They were literally frozen in time.

Not a single muscle was moving. In fact, not a single atom within their bodies was moving. Every expert in the room had been frozen completely, including the high-level Celestial Plane Experts who had accompanied Soza to Vinx. Soza could tell immediately what had happened because experts at his level in the Great Void could manipulate the Power of Time with ease. He could clearly sense the unnatural stagnation surrounding the others.

That realization shocked Soza beyond belief.

Normally, when Time Power was used against someone, that person’s own control over Time Power could be used to resist it. The stronger the cultivator’s understanding of Time, the easier it was to break through another expert’s control. Yet these experts couldn’t move at all. They were completely frozen, and even their own mastery over the Power of Time was doing nothing to help them.

Soza slowly turned back toward Rean, his guard rising even higher than before. "What have you done?"

Rean merely shrugged. "I mean, we can’t have a fight during a family reunion, now can we? I just froze them for a short while. Nothing that impressive. Now you can have all the time in the world to talk to your daughter. There are also your grandkids, so isn’t that a good thing?"

*Bang!*

Soza slammed his hand against the armrest of his throne, his voice echoing throughout the room. "You know that’s not what I’m talking about! How can you freeze everyone in thi—"

He suddenly stopped.

Soza wasn’t an idiot. His mind immediately connected the clues, and an old memory surfaced.

He still remembered very well how the Werdlem Empire had lost its chance to take control of the Vinx Great Void Echo. That power had been supposed to give the Werdlem Empire complete control over the entire Great Void, making it practically invincible. If they had succeeded, no one would have been able to lift a finger against the Empire ever again.

Now, Rean had frozen all the highest-level experts of the Werdlem Empire in the Vinx Great Void as if it were nothing more than a minor inconvenience.

There was only one explanation.

"You..." Soza’s expression changed completely. "You can control the Great Void’s Echo!"

Rean smiled in response. "As expected of the Emperor of the Werdlem Empire. Do you remember that Arbiter who destroyed your plans back then? Well... it turns out he gave us the ability to control the Echo after what we did. Don’t ask me why, though. The Arbiter himself didn’t really tell us much when he gave it to us."

Rean then turned around, preparing to leave. "Alright! Fila, I’ll leave you with your father. I said I was going to watch, but that was just a joke. Soul Gem will also appear in one hour, so don’t forget. I left countermeasures that will guarantee you and your kids’ safety. As long as this happens inside the Vinx Great Void, no one will ever be able to do anything to you. Well then, goodbye."

Soza didn’t even have the chance to complain.

Rean disappeared from the room in the very next moment.

However, the frozen state of his companions didn’t disappear with him. They remained completely motionless, trapped within the stopped flow of time. From the looks of it, Rean really intended to leave them like that for a while.

"Fila..." Soza didn’t even know what to say.

Fila shook her head. "Father, let’s talk. This time, without having to care about anyone’s position. After all, let’s be honest: caring about positions became meaningless now that the twins have full control over the Vinx Great Void Echo. Don’t worry, though. Rean already told me that your companions will be unfrozen automatically in a day or two."

She then extended her hand toward the children standing behind her. "First, let me introduce them to you. These are your grandkids."

—

Back in the Lisan Universe, Rean suddenly appeared out of nowhere inside the Formations Facility where Qia worked.

"I’m back!"

As mentioned before, the twins’ group couldn’t physically return to the Vinx Great Void, but they could still communicate with everyone there through Sister Orb’s help. We can’t forget that Sister Orb herself had never left the Great Void. Through her connection, everyone down there was always aware of what was happening in the Celestial Plane. They simply couldn’t see or meet the twins’ group directly.

"That was fast..." Qia nodded. "How were things in the Werdlem Empire?"

"Pretty much what you would expect," Rean replied with a smile. "Well, forget that. Lisan will likely receive some envoys from Werdlem in the next few days to discuss what they just found out about Roan, Kentucky, Celis, and me. They know they are powerless against experts who are in full control of the Echo."

"That’s fine," Qia said, clearly not bothered by the matter. "I was more interested in how Fila’s reunion with Soza played out. Now, that’s interesting."

"Hahaha!" Rean laughed, putting his arms around her waist. "Indeed, that’s a lot more interesting than a boring Echo topic."

"Hey, you two lovers over there," Fay called out to get their attention. "Go to your room if you want to play. Don’t do that here."

Fay was obviously Rean’s daughter. As for everyone else in the room, they were all highly regarded Formation Masters from the Great Void who had come to Lisan over the years. Rean and Qia still had no shame whatsoever about acting lovey-dovey in front of everyone, though.

Rean smiled, obviously not caring in the slightest. "This is just love. You should actually enjoy it when the real thing is shown to you."

"Ahem..." Qia gently took Rean’s hands away from her waist. "Perhaps we can talk more about it later."

Rean sighed in disappointment. "Fine, later it is, then. Besides, there seems to be someone else who also doesn’t like seeing us like this."

*Grrrr...*

Off to the side, a certain three-tailed fox growled at Qia. ’That’s my Rean! I’ll kill you if you try to steal him from me!’

"Hahaha!" Qia laughed as well. "Don’t worry. I don’t need to steal anything. You are still the greatest fox ever. How could I possibly compete with you?"

Luxa immediately calmed down, puffing out her chest with pride. ’It is good that you know! You aren’t too bad yourself.’

"Ahem..." One of the Formation Masters finally couldn’t help but interrupt. "Senior Rean, this is the first time we’ve met. Could you tell us more about the Formations used in the Celestial Plane?"

Rean thought for a moment before shaking his head. "Unfortunately, their methods are just too different from the Formations we use down here. However, the main problem is that Celestial Plane Formations—or Arrays, as they call them there—require materials from the Celestial Plane as well. That’s not something I’m allowed to provide you with at the moment. You should instead focus on what you can do here. Of course, I don’t mind helping out with the Formations here instead."

"We would appreciate that," the Formation Masters replied.

Meanwhile, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky were also having their reunions.
