Death… And Me

Chapter 4596: Not Good

[Do you remember when Celis asked why Luxa wasn’t tracked before, while she was in her womb? Well, this connection between them is your answer.]

“Explain,” Rean asked.

[Woster, as you know, was isolated. That means Luxa and Lunelle were isolated from each other as well. I believe that what is being used to track the two of them is this exact connection. Just like you and Roan, their powers complement and resonate with each other.]

Rean pondered for a moment, his expression becoming more serious as he considered the implications. “So we would need to isolate the two of them so they can’t be found?”

[Pretty much.]

“But then we would need to keep at least one of them inside the Great Void all the time.” Rean didn’t like the idea at all. “It is too inefficient, especially if you want them to learn how to use each other’s powers. You know that Roan and I gain a lot from our shared connection.”

[What are you talking about? I just said to keep their powers isolated from each other, not themselves. I’m surprised an Arrays Master of your level hasn’t figured out the workaround yet.]

“Ah!” Rean scratched the back of his head before his eyes suddenly lit up. “I’m an idiot.”

‘Nothing new there,’ Roan’s voice echoed through their connection. He had obviously been watching the entire exchange.

“First of all, fuck you! Second, go bother someone else!” Rean immediately countered, clearly annoyed.

Luxa was completely puzzled by the exchange. Lunelle, meanwhile, didn’t care about any of that. She simply wanted to go back to Roan’s side.

*Rawr…*

‘What do I need to do?’ Luxa asked, finally drawing Rean’s attention back to her.

Rean smiled and reached out to pat her head. “Don’t worry. I’ll make something that will create this isolation for you and Lunelle. In fact, since it is a similar power to the system, I have a pretty good idea about how to do that. I should be able to separate the resonance between your powers and keep it that way unless you actively want it to happen.”

That would allow Luxa and Lunelle to remain together while preventing the strange connection between them from becoming a beacon for the Thousand-Script Race’s detection devices.

—

Not too far from there, an invisible airplane crossed the sky, making its way back toward Besgol. Its Light Bending Arrays kept the vessel completely hidden as it traveled over the wilderness. However, it didn’t take long before the airplane suddenly slowed down and stopped at the base of a hill.

A cave entrance could be seen there, partially concealed by vegetation and natural rock formations.

The airplane’s hatch opened, and a woman with various runes covering her body stepped out. She looked around carefully before entering the cave. Once inside, she followed the narrow passage for some distance until she reached a larger underground chamber.

There, she met two men.

A few corpses of Godly Creatures were scattered around the area, their blood staining the ground. The creatures had obviously been attracted to the cultivators’ presence. As cultivators, their very existence acted like a beacon to Godly Creatures, and the stronger their cultivation, the farther away they could be sensed.

Both men were just like the woman, having numerous rune-like tattoos covering their bodies. One of them immediately looked toward the newcomer. “Krava? You back already? Where is Corfitiu?”

Krava’s expression darkened. “He died.”

“What?!” The two men immediately straightened. For a moment, they wondered if they had simply misunderstood her. “Did you meet a Godly Horror by any chance?”

“No,” Krava shook her head. She then sent the entire sequence of events through a Celestial Sense Message, allowing them to experience the details directly. “That’s basically it. What do you think, Doluno?”

If the twins’ group had been there, they definitely would have recognized that name.

Doluno was the Peak Stage Law God from the Natak Region, the cultivator who often acted as its leader. His position was quite similar to Tobao’s in Besgol, and his authority within the Natak Region was naturally considerable.

Doluno remained silent for a while after receiving Krava’s message. He carefully went through every detail again, especially the part involving Roan.

Finally, he shook his head in disbelief. “No… Corfitiu… How could you drop your guard like that, my friend…?”

The man beside him shook his head as well. His name was Tapoqi, an Initial Stage Law God. “I don’t think he dropped his guard. We know Corfitiu. For him to have misjudged Roan’s strength to that degree, Roan must have displayed a power far beyond what an Aura God should possess.”

Doluno sighed and nodded. “Thery warned us. The twins were Aura Gods, but they definitely had the power to fight Zone Gods if necessary. I heard that, but I didn’t expect it to be to such an extent. What a cunning ascender. It was obvious that the struggle he had against that Godly Beast was nothing but a pretence.”

Tapoqi had to admit that the explanation made sense. “We should have gone together…”

“That wasn’t a good idea. You know very well that the more cultivators there are in one place, the more Godly Creatures they attract,” Krava said. She gestured toward the corpses scattered around the chamber. “Our cultivations are very high, so we would be even bigger beacons. That’s why we traveled with two different duos. Besides, we can only tell the general direction of the Fox and the Raven. We weren’t certain if we were actually close to them or not.”

Doluno still didn’t like it. Losing a Late Stage Law God was a serious matter, especially when the target was already within reach. “A Late Stage Law God… That is quite a big blow to our Natak Region. However, if we manage to get the Raven and the Fox, we will have a lot more of them in the future.”

He began walking toward the cave’s exit, his expression becoming increasingly serious. “In any case, now we know we are very close. Krava, you did well in returning and not insisting on the pursuit. Aurundi was nearby and coming after the twins’ group. There might have been other traps as well. This time, the three of us will act together. Also, no holding back like poor Corfitiu did. When you see them, kill them. Just make sure you don’t harm the Eternal Night Raven and Eternal Day Fox.”

Krava and Tapoqi nodded immediately.

Then, Doluno took a tablet from his Spatial Ring.

The surface of the tablet was covered with countless tiny runes. On it, one could see the faint shapes of a fox and a raven. Krava and Tapoqi took out identical tablets of their own, and the three of them simultaneously poured Celestial Energy into the devices.

That was a detection device, something that had been used long ago, back when the old Fox and Raven escaped Goslau by throwing themselves into the Great Void Black Hole.

As mentioned before, the Thousand-Script Race had a method of contacting their members in the Goslau Great Void. After learning about the Fox and the Raven, they asked how to find where the Fox and the Raven were, and the crafting method of the tablet was the answer sent back.

However, the Celestial Plane possessed far more restrictions than a Great Void.

As a result, their detection tablets couldn’t pinpoint a precise location. They could only detect the general direction and approximate area where the resonance of their targets existed.

That should have been enough. At least, it had always been enough before.

“Hum?”

However, when they activated the tablets this time, nothing happened.

Tapoqi stared at the device in confusion. “I can’t pick up the resonance.”

“Same here…” Doluno confirmed, his brows furrowing.

Krava looked at her tablet and then at the other two. “Is it even possible? Even if they were inside a Dimensional Realm, we should still be able to pick up something.”

Doluno narrowed his eyes. That was not a good sign. “If the resonance has disappeared entirely, then something must have changed. Either they’ve discovered a way to interfere with the detection, or they have already entered some place our tablets can’t reach.”

Doluno’s grip tightened around the detection tablet. “This is not good. We must find them. It will become too difficult to do anything if they manage to return to Besgol.”
