Death… And Me

Chapter 4600: Exaggerate

Let’s rewind time…

When Roan had flown back halfway to Besgol, he had slowed the flight and told Aurundi that it was for safety’s sake. Now, was that really the case?

Of course not!

That day, Rean took out another airplane. This one wasn’t like his own, with all the improvements. It was actually a normal market model, although it had been made using his own designs that he had shared with the Arrays Masters Guild. Not even Aurundi noticed when Rean switched airplanes, especially since the twins’ group was already traveling along a different route from their original path.

Since it was based on his own designs, it obviously had the Light Bending Array Plates. That made Rean invisible to the naked eye, preventing anyone from seeing the airplane as it traveled through the sky. As for the natural perception that Godly Creatures had toward cultivators, it didn’t work on Rean either because he used the Godly Pressure Disguise of their cultivation technique.

Let’s not forget that the Godly Pressure Arrays had been created based on the twins’ group’s cultivation technique, which could be run in reverse to emanate Godly Pressure just like real Godly Creatures. Rean had already used this method countless times before, so hiding his presence from the creatures below wasn’t difficult at all.

So, simply put, Rean was almost 100% invisible to both cultivators and Godly Creatures alike. The only thing he had to be careful about was a Godly Creature deciding to attack simply because it didn’t like seeing another Godly Creature entering its territory.

After all, he would be flying farther away from the distance limit allowed by the system to be able to enter and leave the Great Void. The twins had to be within ten thousand kilometers of each other for that to work, so Rean couldn’t simply disappear into the Great Void whenever he wanted while traveling alone.

And so, Rean flew toward Besgol on his own. Luxa did not stay with him. Instead, he left her with Roan so she could fight Godly Creatures, train, and get her own Godly Crystals. It was also important to keep the arrangement looking natural.

If Luxa suddenly vanished along with Rean, anyone paying close attention might become suspicious. One could at least say Rean was piloting the airplane and didn’t want to come out. The same wouldn’t work for Luxa.

It went without saying that since Rean didn’t fly at half the speed, and since he didn’t need to worry about being tracked due to Luxa, he got closer to Besgol much, much earlier than Roan’s group. Weeks, to be more precise. That was all part of the plan.

There, Rean was given plenty of time to work. From the speed difference, Rean knew that Roan would only get there several weeks later. Even if something unexpected happened and Roan arrived earlier than expected, Rean could still feel Roan’s presence regardless of distance, so he wouldn’t be taken by surprise. Their connection made it impossible for either of them to truly lose track of the other.

On Roan’s side, they began to come out only in groups of two or three experts to fight the Godly Creatures so as not to alarm Aurundi. Aurundi was responsible for their safety, and since they couldn’t tell him about the Godly Pressure Disguise, he would never have allowed Rean to fly away on his own. Roan had to maintain the appearance that everyone was still traveling together, even though Rean was already far ahead.

Finally, the moment they had been waiting for arrived. Rean couldn’t enter or leave the Great Void, but he definitely could still use Sister Orb to talk. After a long time, Rean had finished the array, and that allowed Roan to do his part.

Roan removed Luxa’s collar and Lunelle’s anklet. As soon as he did, Lunelle and Luxa could feel each other’s presence again. Naturally, their resonance, which they believed to be what was being used to track the two, returned to normal. That was exactly what they needed.

Roan became even more certain that Rean and Sister Orb had gotten it right. After all, there had been plenty of days for the cultivators of the Natak Region to catch up to them after Luxa and Lunelle had put the collar and anklet on. Since they hadn’t, it most likely meant the measure had worked.

Of course, Roan only did that once they got close enough to where the trap had been set. At the same time, Rean flew back in Roan’s direction, eventually reaching the ten-thousand-kilometer range between them. From there, he simply entered the Great Void and then came out of it by Roan’s side. It was as if Rean had never left the airplane in the first place.

Lastly, there was the need to make everything look natural. Was Rean’s airplane really flying as fast as it could?

Ha!

What a joke!

It could already fly at the speed of an Average Initial Stage Zone God just with the surrounding Celestial Energy alone. When the Godly Predator Crystals were added, Rean’s airplane could definitely reach the speed of a Late Stage or maybe even a Peak Stage Zone God if he pushed it. The airplane had never been anywhere near its actual limits.

Yes, the airplane’s thruster never broke down. It was all a play, a carefully prepared performance meant to make it look like they had pushed the airplane too far. Rean was well aware of how proud the Thousand-Script Race was of their array-mastering abilities. He flew just slightly slower than their airplane, but fast enough that they would eventually reach the area where he had prepared the trap.

When they got close, he created the smoke from the thrusters on purpose, reducing the speed of the airplane. Finally, he pretended that the second thruster also broke down, and the airplane fell until the twins’ group came out and Rean put it away.

By then, they were well within Rean’s array range, and the prey had fallen directly into the net.

—

*ZuOm!*

Immediately, an enormous dome took form around both groups. Could Rean have lured them inside while keeping his own group outside the array? Of course, he could! That wasn’t the idea, though.

If they simply wanted to flee and get to Besgol, why remove Luxa’s collar or Lunelle’s anklet? Roan had absolutely no intention of just going back to Besgol and then hoping that one day the Natak Region would give up on Luxa and Lunelle. Nothing would send the Natak Region a better message than having their Law Gods fail to return alive.

To be fair, Roan was quite surprised there were still three of them. He thought there would be only one more. Not that it made any difference by now, of course.

Besides, this was the perfect opportunity. They had already discovered how the Natak Region was tracking them, had managed to isolate Luxa and Lunelle from one another, and had lured three Law Gods deep into their prepared trap. There was no reason to waste such an opportunity.

As the array took form, everyone disappeared from Doluno, Krava, and Tapoqi’s sight. Not only that, but their own Godly Energy began to be drained nonstop, forcing them to use more of it to reduce the leakage, although they couldn’t stop it completely. The array wasn’t merely imprisoning them. Every moment they remained inside, their energy reserves were being slowly consumed.

By now, Doluno’s group knew they had fallen into a trap. However, Doluno didn’t panic. In fact, he was fuming with anger. “You want to trap my Thousand-Script Race inside an array?! Keep dreaming!”

He immediately flew in a straight line, soon reaching the barrier imprisoning them inside. Many runes could be seen there as Doluno touched it and closed his eyes. He was obviously very good with arrays, so he knew from a glance he couldn’t break it by force… and he didn’t even try. “Krava, Tapoqi, protect me while I get rid of this joke!”

“Understood!” Krava and Tapoqi immediately moved into position, watching their surroundings while Doluno focused on the array.

Doluno’s own bloodline runes seemed to interact with the array barrier. For a moment, it looked like both sets of runes were part of Doluno’s body, spreading from his hand into the barrier itself. Then…

“BREAK!”

He shouted, and his energy poured through his hand. His bloodline runes spread over the area of the barrier he was touching, turning it red for a moment until…

*Blang!*

The protective barrier collapsed!

Seeing that, Doluno snorted. “Hmph! Now let’s see where you can hide!”

*Bang!*

Yet, just as he tried to fly through the opening, he hit the barrier again.

It’s just that he hadn’t seen it before.

No, he did see it before. He had just broken it.

And yet, it had suddenly appeared again.

Didn’t he just get rid of it?

Doluno was lost. How could that be the case?

At that moment, Rean’s voice echoed in the surroundings. “As expected of the Thousand-Script Race. You are truly good at this. To think you could destroy the first layer of my draining array prison in less than a minute. I’m impressed.”

Doluno couldn’t see Rean. The array had completely covered Rean and everyone else’s presence, leaving only his voice to taunt them from the darkness. “The first layer? So that’s how it is! Hmph! I will just break the other layers as well.”

“Sure!” Rean didn’t mind in the slightest. “You only have another 1276 layers to go. Do your best.”

Doluno almost vomited blood. “There is no way there are that many!”

Back on the twins’ group side, Aurundi was completely lost. “This… 1276?”

Rean shrugged. “I mean… I had several weeks to work on it, so I might have exaggerated a little bit.”

Roan glanced at Rean.

“Just a little?”

Rean smiled innocently.

“What? I had time.”
