Chapter 4619: Testing
All the Water Element in the surroundings converged toward Lunelle, pouring into her body until the enormous sphere surrounding her was completely absorbed. Slowly, her silhouette became visible again as the energy dissipated. Her overall size had barely changed, growing by perhaps a centimeter or two at most. That was hardly unexpected, considering Luxa had experienced a similar change during her own breakthrough.
Of course, one particular difference stood out immediately. Before this breakthrough, Lunelle had possessed her normal tail feathers along with two exceptionally long ones. Now, there were three long tail feathers. The original pair shifted slightly apart, making room for the new feather that had appeared between them. Although the change seemed relatively minor at first glance, everyone knew it represented a significant improvement in her strength.
Lunelle’s navy-blue and golden eyes continued to shine for a little while longer before gradually returning to normal. The corresponding colors on her feathers faded as well, leaving her with her usual black plumage. Once the last traces of energy disappeared, she finally looked around and realized just how much attention she had attracted.
There were at least a few hundred cultivators from Besgol gathered near the lake, and that didn’t even account for the millions watching the breakthrough live through the network. Lunelle wasn’t particularly interested in becoming the center of attention, so she gave a small sigh before flying back toward Roan.
’Roan, I’m done.’
Roan nodded slightly, satisfied that she had completed the breakthrough without any apparent problems. "How do you feel?"
’I can see why Luxa always talked about how good it felt. I can sense the Water Element and Yin Energy in the environment much more easily now, and I can control much more of both at once. Not to mention that my Godly Energy pools in my eyes have grown considerably,’ Lunelle explained, sounding pleased with the results.
Roan was satisfied with her answer. "That’s good enough. Let’s go somewhere else and test your strength now."
Hearing that, Rean immediately took out his airplane, and everyone quickly boarded. Once they were inside, the airplane activated its arrays, bent the light around its body, and disappeared from sight as it flew away from the lake. There was no need to address the onlookers. They had come to watch the spectacle and stayed because they wanted to, so the group simply left them to their discussions.
Naturally, Lunelle’s breakthrough became a hot topic across the Besgol Network for several weeks afterward. Cultivators debated her strange evolution, the significance of her third tail feather, and the incredible energy phenomenon that had accompanied it. However, all of that was a story for another time.
For now, Roan was more interested in determining how much stronger Lunelle had become. After gaining her third tail, Luxa had reached a level where she could hold her own against a Godly Predator. If she encountered a weaker one, she would most likely be able to defeat it or even kill it in a direct fight. Roan wanted to know whether Lunelle had achieved a similar level of strength after gaining her third tail feather.
Unfortunately, finding a Godly Predator this close to Besgol’s borders wasn’t easy. Besides, since they hadn’t made any particular plans for the day, there was little reason to venture deeper into the Godly Creatures’ Territories just to find one. Instead, Roan decided to have Lunelle fight a few Godly Beasts so he could compare her current performance with what she had been capable of before the breakthrough.
Before gaining her third tail feather, Lunelle had already been able to defeat and kill Godly Beasts, but doing so still required some effort. She couldn’t simply eliminate them the moment a fight began. Roan wanted to see whether that had changed, so he pointed toward the ground below, where three Vocafo Snakes were moving through the area.
"There are three Vocafo Snakes down there, all at the Godly Beast level. Go and see if you can take them down."
Lunelle immediately flew out of the airplane and descended toward the three Godly Beasts. The difference became apparent almost at once. Her feathers turned navy blue and gold as she gathered Water Element and Yin Energy at a much higher speed than before. The two energies quickly converged, concentrating in front of her open beak until a terrifying amount of power had accumulated in a remarkably small space.
*Creeee!*
A thin jet of water suddenly shot out of Lunelle’s beak, traveling at an astonishing speed. Its appearance was quite different from an ordinary stream of water. The navy-blue and golden energy compressed into such a narrow beam that it looked more like a laser than a conventional Water Element attack.
The three Vocafo Snakes reacted immediately upon noticing Lunelle. Known among cultivators for their exceptional speed and reaction time, the Godly Beasts lunged toward her the moment they saw her approaching. However, even though they had witnessed her preparing the attack and had enough time to recognize the danger, none of them managed to dodge.
It wasn’t that they didn’t want to. The problem was that Lunelle’s attack was simply too damn fast!
The water jet pierced through the three snakes as effortlessly as a hot knife cutting through butter. In an instant, all three Godly Beasts had their heads severed, and their bodies fell lifelessly toward the ground. From the moment Lunelle launched her attack to the moment the fight ended, barely any time had passed.
Naturally, Lunelle had no intention of wasting valuable resources. She immediately used the same technique to open the severed heads, extracted the Godly Crystals from within, and collected them before flying back toward Rean’s airplane. By the time she returned, everything was already finished. The entire fight had lasted no more than a few seconds.
’I’m done, Roan.’
Roan nodded, clearly satisfied with what he had witnessed. "Judging by your speed, strength, and precision, you should have no trouble defeating Initial Godly Predators. You should also be able to fight Middle Godly Predators to a standstill. Late and Peak Godly Predators would still be difficult opponents, but you shouldn’t lose too quickly against them either."
He paused briefly, recalling how much weaker Lunelle had been when she first joined their group. "That’s an enormous improvement. When you first joined us, you could barely fight Godly Spawns. Now, you’ve reached the point where you can contend with Godly Predators."
Lunelle nodded, clearly delighted by the results. ’That is a good thing.’
*Rawr!*
’You did great, Lunelle! Now you can use Godly Predator Crystals for cultivation, just like me!’ Luxa exclaimed excitedly, apparently just as pleased with her little sister’s advancement as Lunelle herself was.
Tobao, who had observed the entire fight, was equally impressed. After all, he had witnessed the breakthrough firsthand and had now seen the results with his own eyes. "Their cultivation really is strange. Lunelle had two tail feathers before, yet she could initially only fight Godly Spawns. She gradually grew stronger while still having those same two feathers, eventually reaching the point where she could fight and defeat even the strongest Godly Beasts."
He looked toward Lunelle, then turned his attention to Luxa. "That means she gained enough strength to bridge the equivalent of two entire cultivation realms without acquiring another tail feather. Now that she’s gained her third, she can immediately fight Godly Predators. Could it be that every time Luxa and Lunelle gain a new tail or tail feather, they acquire enough potential to grow two entire realms stronger?"
Roan had already considered that possibility, but he wasn’t convinced. "We can’t be certain. We’ve only seen them with two and three tails or tail feathers, so our information is limited. However, I don’t think that’s quite how it works."
’Why?’ Luxa and Lunelle asked almost simultaneously, both curious about his reasoning.
Roan quickly explained his thoughts. "We met Luxa and Lunelle when they already had two tails or tail feathers. It’s reasonable to assume that if they had been born earlier, under different conditions, they might have started with only one."
Rean immediately understood where Roan was going with that theory. "I see! It’s like having one tail is equivalent to the Anchor God Realm, while two tails are equivalent to the Aura God Realm. Luxa and Lunelle simply happened to be born at the equivalent of the Aura God Realm from the very beginning."
He continued, piecing together the explanation. "However, they were still newborns, so they hadn’t had time to develop the strength associated with their two-tail level. That’s why they could only fight Godly Spawns at first. They were simply too young to use the strength they were born with effectively. You could even say they were gradually unlocking the power they already possessed because of their two-tail level."
"Exactly," Roan confirmed. "Two tails should be equivalent to the Aura God Realm. As they grew older, they gradually learned to use the strength associated with that level. They didn’t gain two entire realms of strength while keeping the same number of tails. Instead, they already possessed that potential from the moment they were born, even though they hadn’t yet developed the ability to use it properly."
He paused for a moment before adding a final qualification. "This is still only a theory, of course. If I’m right, then when they gain another tail or tail feather, we’ll probably perceive an improvement equivalent to only one cultivation realm prior."
"Their cultivation remains fundamentally different from ours, though. They don’t have Initial, Middle, Late, or Peak Stages, but their strength still develops over time until they can fully utilize the power associated with each stage."
Tobao couldn’t help feeling a little jealous. "That means they don’t have to worry about stage breakthroughs at all. There are no stages for them to struggle through. And yet..." He paused, letting out a resigned sigh. "Amitabha, amitabha... how I wish cultivation were that easy for the rest of us."
After a moment, Tobao shook his head, deciding that there was no point dwelling on something he couldn’t change. "Forget it. There’s no point thinking about what we don’t have. Instead..."
He turned toward Roan, his expression becoming more serious. "This monk very much wishes to hear about this idea of yours to leave Besgol."
