Death… And Me

Chapter 4626: More

Chapter 4626: More

The rest of the explanation focused on Duze and the Ruckus Region, which controlled this tiny portion of the Grasslands.

Tobao and Arcis were understandably shocked to learn that they had been living under someone else’s jurisdiction all along. Until now, everyone in Besgol had believed that their Region was an independent power, doing its best to survive and develop in the Celestial Plane. Yet, according to what the twins had learned, their entire existence had been part of a carefully planned arrangement. Besgol was merely one of more than a million Regions controlled by the Ruckus Region.

Worse still, Ruckus was responsible for wiping their memories, removing all information regarding Rean’s Godly Pressure Arrays, and resetting everything to the way it had been before Rean’s ideas began to spread.

*Bang!*

Arcis slammed his hand against the armrest of his seat, his anger evident. "Who do they think they are? You wanted to share the Godly Pressure Arrays, and they prevented you from doing so?! Are you serious?! How many lives could we have saved if you had been allowed to implement that technology properly?!"

Tobao closed his eyes, his expression darkening. "Why would they go to such lengths just to make us suffer?"

"From what we know, they want cultivators to remain in a harsh environment so that they can develop," Kentucky commented. "At least, that’s what Duze told us when we met him. The only reason our memories weren’t wiped was that the process didn’t work on us. You now know why: we have soul protection."

"That still doesn’t explain why!" Arcis insisted. "There has to be a reason they want to keep us in such a hostile environment. Could it be that they need more and more highly talented experts? Why do they need them so badly?"

"Indeed," Roan agreed. "In any case, that’s something you’ll have to ask them when we get there. We weren’t told the reason. We barely had time to talk before Duze simply left, and he didn’t answer our questions. What we’ve told you is the full extent of what we know."

Tobao turned his attention toward the direction from which the airplane had come. For a moment, he considered returning to Besgol and telling everyone what he had learned. Perhaps the other cultivators deserved to know the truth about the world they inhabited. However, he ultimately abandoned the idea. Ruckus had already wiped everyone’s memories once, and there was no reason to believe they couldn’t do it again. "I will definitely find out what’s behind all of this."

"You probably aren’t the first to try, nor will you be the last," Roan pointed out coldly. "You’d better be careful. The Ruckus Region controls only a tiny portion of the Grasslands. There are millions of powers like Ruckus, and each one controls millions of Regions. Yet, according to Duze, they all follow the same rules. This isn’t something you should stick your nose into unless you’re absolutely certain you can bear the consequences."

Tobao understood the implication immediately. "Those rules weren’t created by the Ruckus Region. They merely follow orders. There must be another power behind the entire Grasslands, one that enforces those rules."

"Exactly," Roan confirmed. "In any case, everything we’re discussing here is nothing more than speculation."

*Clap!*

Rean clapped his hands, drawing everyone’s attention back to him. A smile spread across his face as he decided to bring the discussion to a close. "Alright, that’s everything you need to know about us. Naturally, we also want to find the answers to your questions, but we don’t have anything else to tell you for now. So, do you have any questions?"

Of course, Arcis and Tobao had plenty. The two Law Gods took the opportunity to ask about the twins’ abilities, their experiences, and the various restrictions they had discovered. Rean and Roan answered as calmly as they could, clarifying what they knew while making it clear whenever they were uncertain about something. Meanwhile, the airplane continued flying toward the Sprouting Portal.

Eventually, most of the questions had been answered, and the bulk of the revelations was behind them. Before moving on, however, Rean and Roan asked Arcis and Tobao to keep their special abilities secret when they eventually reached the Ruckus Region.

Both Law Gods readily agreed. Apart from the fact that the twins trusted them, it was also in their own interest to keep such extraordinary abilities hidden. Revealing everything they had learned could attract attention they were better off avoiding.

The journey continued, carrying the group deeper and deeper into the Godly Creatures’ Territories. With each passing month, the creatures became more numerous, and encounters with powerful opponents grew increasingly common. Fortunately, Rean’s airplane disguise continued to serve them well, preventing their presence from accumulating to the point where they would attract every Godly Creature in the surrounding area.

Just like that, two years passed.

—

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

A Godly Horror attacked with everything it had, unleashing one powerful strike after another. Kentucky stood directly in its path, relying on his Dark and Light Godly Armor to withstand the impacts. Each collision sent tremors through the surrounding air, but the Minokawa held his ground, refusing to give the creature an opportunity to break through his defenses.

At the same time, countless vines had spread across the surrounding area, intertwining to form an enormous dome. The Godly Horror’s energy was continuously drained as long as it remained within that enclosed space. Naturally, the one responsible for the dome was Celis, who had transformed the battlefield with his Energy Draining Prison.

’Heaven’s Fall!’

*KABRUM!*

A powerful bolt of lightning descended from the sky, carrying an enormous amount of Lightning Element, Godly Energy, and the power of Lightning Laws. Tobao also made his move.

*ROAR!!!*

The Godly Horror was struck directly in the back. A massive hole tore through its body, and it released a deafening roar of pain as the lightning continued ravaging its insides. The creature had already sustained considerable injuries during the battle, and the attack pushed it closer to its limit.

’Frigid Feather Icicles!’

Tens of sharp feathers descended next, striking the Godly Horror from several directions. Each feather carried the power of Ice Laws, and the moment they pierced its body, their frigid energy spread through its flesh. The creature’s movements became increasingly sluggish, leaving it barely capable of defending itself.

*Zush! Zush!*

At that critical moment, Rean and Roan appeared almost simultaneously on either side of the Godly Horror. Both had fused with Luxa and Lunelle, their bodies transformed and their powers boosted considerably by the two Eternal Beasts.

The twins didn’t waste the opportunity.
