Death… And Me

Chapter 4629: Plan of Action

Chapter 4629: Plan of Action

Tobao and Arcis nearly fainted on the spot.

"C-Come after us? What do you mean?"

Rean merely offered a faint smile, leaving Roan to take over. Roan then explained their plan, including how they intended to deal with the Godly Apex.

—

Quite far from there, a vast swamp stretched across tens of thousands of kilometers. Countless moths could be seen flying through the humid air or resting among the vegetation, their numbers so great that they seemed to be everywhere one looked. Among those that possessed any cultivation whatsoever, most were only Godly Spawns.

In fact, the overwhelming majority of these moths hadn’t even reached that level, demonstrating just how common this particular race of Godly Creatures was in the region. They were so numerous that several other species of Godly Creatures living in the swamp barely paid them any attention. Some even fed on them regularly, treating the moths as little more than a convenient source of food.

Naturally, however, not every moth was so insignificant. Those that had managed to reach the Godly Beast Level or higher were also scattered throughout the swamp. At the Godly Beast Level, these moths began commanding entire swarms of their weaker kin, making them a force that the other Godly Creatures could no longer afford to ignore. After all, even if an individual moth posed little threat, a swarm numbering in the thousands could become a considerable nuisance.

The race’s behavior became rather strange, though, once its members reached the Godly Predator Level.

Reaching that level was no easy feat for any Godly Creature, including these moths. Yet, unlike what one might expect, those that successfully advanced seemed to abandon the practice of commanding enormous swarms. Instead, they began living in much smaller groups, keeping only a handful of weaker moths under their command. It was the weaker ones’ job to control bigger swarms.

Perhaps this was because other Godly Creatures of the same level simply wouldn’t fear a swarm composed mostly of creatures that hadn’t even reached the Godly Spawn Level. Perhaps maintaining such enormous numbers was no longer worth the effort. Whatever the reason, Godly Predator Moths generally commanded only several Godly Spawns and a few Godly Beast Moths.

At the Godly Horror Level, things became even more like that. Even if one gathered every moth in the entire swamp, there would be no more than three Godly Horror Moths among them. Each of these powerful creatures, in turn, commanded only two or three Godly Predator Moths.

The hierarchy functioned much like a pyramid. The higher a moth climbed in cultivation, the fewer subordinates it commanded directly. However, those subordinates controlled their own swarms, which meant that a single Godly Horror Moth could indirectly command an enormous number of weaker moths.

And, as one might expect, standing at the very top of this entire hierarchy was the Middle Godly Apex Moth—the same tiny creature that the twins’ group had encountered when it carried away the body of their recently slain Godly Horror.

—

This was the very swamp where the twins’ group currently found themselves. After spending some time searching for a suitable target, they eventually came across a Godly Predator Moth. The moment they confirmed its presence, their plan began.

’Energy Draining Prison!’

Celis’s roots and vines surged outward, forming a prison around the Godly Predator Moth before it could react. The weaker moths under its command immediately swarmed toward the prison, attempting to bite through the roots and vines to rescue their leader. Unfortunately for them, that only brought them closer to their own deaths.

The moment they came into contact with Celis’s prison, their energy began draining away. Some were killed by the prison itself, while others were swiftly eliminated by the Rean, Roan, and Kentucky before they could escape.

Within seconds, the entire swarm had been wiped out.

’Red Death, Death Cross!’

Roan didn’t bother trying to catch the Godly Predator Moth off guard. At this cultivation level, there was little reason to rely on tricks against an opponent that had already been weakened by Celis’s Energy Draining Prison. His Elemental Intent Scythes swept through the air, their deadly edges intersecting as they sliced the moth into four pieces.

The Godly Predator Moth died instantly.

Everything had happened so quickly that the surrounding Godly Creatures had barely had time to react. They immediately retrieved the moth’s Godly Predator Crystal and returned to the airplane.

Throughout the battle, they had been circulating their cultivation techniques in reverse. Consequently, any Godly Creature that happened to sense the fight would perceive it as a battle between Godly Creatures rather than against cultivators. Tobao, Arcis, and Kachia had remained inside the airplane the entire time, ensuring that no cultivator’s presence could be detected from their direction.

With the Godly Predator Crystal secured, the next phase of their plan could begin.

—

Several hours later, somewhere else in the swamp, a Godly Horror Moth was feeding on an enormous Shackal-like body. Nearly half of the carcass had already been consumed, although the moth itself was not responsible for eating most of it. By the time it had arrived, a substantial portion of the body was already missing.

Yes, this was the very same corpse that the Godly Apex Moth had carried away from the twins’ group a few days earlier.

As for the missing half, the answer was rather astonishing. Despite its tiny size, the Godly Apex Moth had somehow consumed all of it before leaving the remaining carcass behind. The Godly Horror Moth had simply stumbled upon the leftovers and decided to take advantage of the opportunity.

For a creature of its level, a Peak Godly Horror’s body was an excellent meal. Such an opportunity was not something it would willingly abandon.

However, the Godly Horror Moth suddenly stopped feeding. Its two eyes turned toward a particular direction as its senses detected another moth approaching the carcass.

*Whirrrrrr...*

A low-pitched whirring sound emerged from its wings, carrying a clear warning that other moths of its race could understand. A Godly Predator Moth was approaching, and the Godly Horror Moth had absolutely no intention of allowing it to take the carcass.

After all, this was the body of a Peak Godly Horror. It wasn’t something it could hope to kill at its level, just defeat in the best of cases.

Yet, the approaching Godly Predator Moth continued advancing despite the warning.

The Godly Horror Moth became increasingly irritated. To its simple mind, this was an unmistakable challenge to its ownership of the carcass. It couldn’t see the approaching creature, but it could sense its presence clearly enough. The moment the intruder came too close, it immediately prepared to attack.

The Godly Predator Moth, however, suddenly turned around and fled.

Naturally, the Godly Horror Moth wasn’t about to let it escape after the challenge to its authority. The challenge had already been issued, and allowing the intruder to leave unpunished would be an unacceptable outcome. More importantly, this wasn’t one of the three Godly Predator Moths under its own command, making the intrusion even more offensive to its limited intelligence.

But was the approaching creature truly a Godly Predator Moth?

Of course not!

The twins’ group had deliberately stopped earlier to kill a Godly Predator Moth and obtain its Godly Predator Crystal. They had then placed that very crystal inside the airplane’s Godly Pressure Disguise Array, allowing the vessel to imitate the presence of a moth.

As far as the other moths’ senses were concerned, the airplane was now indistinguishable from one of their own kind. That was especially so since the airplane was invisible due to the Light Bending Arrays.

As for why it was fleeing, that was the next part of Rean and Roan’s plan. They intended to lure the Godly Horror Moth away from the carcass and into a particular location.

However, after several minutes of pursuit, the Godly Horror Moth suddenly stopped.

It wasn’t because it had lost interest in its challenger. Nor was it because it had realized something was wrong. Rather, it had reached a point beyond which it didn’t dare venture.

This was the territory of the Godly Apex Moth.

The Godly Horror Moth might not have been intelligent enough to understand many things, but it knew better than to trespass too deeply into the domain of a creature far more powerful than itself. Above all, it served that Godly Apex, and getting into this area would be considered a challenge over the entire chain of command. Under normal circumstances, it would never have dared to continue.

Unfortunately for it, the desire to punish the intruder had already overwhelmed what little judgment it possessed.

And it wouldn’t be able to hold back for much longer.

Out of nowhere, a sphere of red and gold fire shot toward the Godly Horror Moth. It was Luxa’s. The attack moved incredibly fast, and the element behind it was completely unexpected for a moth that had spent its entire existence surrounded by creatures whose powers were vastly different.

The Godly Horror Moth reacted immediately, attempting to evade the incoming attack.

At the same time, the airplane’s Light Bending Arrays deactivated, revealing the vessel that had been hiding behind the disguise.

*BANG!*

The sphere of fire exploded, its brilliance illuminating the surrounding swamp. The Godly Horror Moth managed to dodge most of the blast, suffering only a few minor burns. Once the light faded, it could finally see what had launched the attack.

That was obviously not another moth.

And yet, its presence had felt remarkably similar.

The Godly Horror Moth’s anger quickly overcame any remaining hesitation. It spread its wings and chased after the airplane, following the strange intruder straight into the Godly Apex Moth’s territory—a place it knew it should never enter. Well, at least not until it knew it was strong enough to challenge it. That was definitely not now nor anywhere in the near future.

Unfortunately for it, reasoning was never its strong suit.

*BANG! BANG! BANG!*

The twins’ group kept the Godly Pressure Disguise Array active while launching additional attacks at their pursuer. They deliberately avoided dealing any serious damage, focusing instead on keeping the Godly Horror Moth angry enough to continue the chase without allowing it to catch up.

After all, even with the Rean’s Airplane’s advanced Celestial Thrusters, the airplane was nowhere near as fast as a flying Godly Horror.

They needed the moth to follow them a little farther.

Finally, Rean spotted the signal he had been waiting for on the radar. A faint smile appeared on his face as he turned toward the others. "Our friend is here. Get ready!"
