"Guess we'll find out..." Jin Wang mumbled to himself and followed after Hao Xuan and the man.
Hao Xuan looked left and right, observing everything in detail.
The top of this massive cavern had a single humongous Lightstone that was the only source of light in the area. The houses were scattered along the cavern without any actual designs.
Some were built inside the cavern walls while others looked like a child had made them. But they provided some modicum of privacy and a bit of cover, so it wasn't all bad.
It looked like all of these people belonged to the same race though. They all had dark purple skin, pointy ears, huge bodies, and mesmerizing eyes.
Also, the same black sigil that was on the man's chest was present on every other person they had come across so far.
It didn't look like it was burned into their skin, but if Hao Xuan didn't know any better he would have thought it was a birthmark. But how could an entire species have the same birthmark?
They came to a stop outside the large building. There were hoards of people going in and out of it, and this was the only place Hao Xuan had seen any females.
They looked much slimmer and didn't have as viscous features as the men. They could even be quite attractive if they were perhaps dressed a little better but all of them were in the same old robes that had been stitched together for what seemed like thousands of different pieces.
Standing among these people Hao Xuan and Jin Wang who were dressed in normal civilian clothes looked like kings.
"Hello, hello," Hao Xuan nodded awkwardly at everyone that was staring at them, and there were a lot of them. From a first glance, it seemed to be at least a thousand or so people.
The females were in groups of 3 or 4 and were gossiping amongst themselves looking at them. Although judging from their giggling it didn't look like they had very good impressions of the duo.
"Ik Tura iferaor," the man stopped in front of the door of the building and gestured for them to stop as well. He then pointed at himself and then at the building, and then at Hao Xuan and at the ground.
"Oh, you want me to stay here? Sure," Hao Xuan realized pretty quickly what he meant so he smiled and nodded in confirmation.
Seeing as they had understood, the man pushed open the doors and walked inside. Jin Wang walked up to Hao Xuan and whispered.
"Dude, that ones checking you out," he said pointing at a single female that was standing at the back of the crowd. She looked different from the others in the sense that she had what seemed like primitive leather armor on.
Her brows were scrunched up and she was looking at them with quite a bit of hostility. Hao Xuan's expression instantly turned ugly.
"Did you do something to her? Why the f*ck is she so mad?" he quickly inquired.
Jin Wang stared at him speechlessly, "I have been standing right next to you this whole time. The hell you talking about?"
"Well why does she look lik-" Hao Xuan turned around to face her but she was already gone.
"..."
'That can't be good...'
*Creeeak~*
The door to the large building opened once again as Hao Xuan was looking around and the man walked out.
*Hush*
All the murmurs and the whispers came to an abrupt stop as a hush fell over the crowd.
"Hmm?" Hao Xuan looked around and soon found out the reason for the silence. Behind the man was a group of 6 elderly women. All of them seemed to be around the same age of around 90 years old.
Even though their faces were covered with wrinkles and their bodies were hunched over, each of their steps was filled with power. They followed behind the man without the help of anyone else.
"Auor khuoas lukei amoura," the man said looking at Hao Xuan. He was about to respond until he realized the man wasn't talking to him but the old women behind him.
He moved aside and the old ladies walked forward. They examined Hao Xuan and Jin Wang from top to bottom. Touching their faces, their ears, poking and pinching. A couple of minutes later they stopped and whispered to one another and nodded.
One of them walked forward, the one that seemed the oldest, "Come!" she said and turned around and started walking back inside the building.
Hao Xuan and JIn Wang both exchanged glances. So someone does understand them here, thank god!
As the followed them inside the door closed on its own. The man stayed outside, as did all the others. Now the elderly women were leading them further in.
They passed by two small rooms which were filled with different sorts of crystals and metals Hao Xuan had never seen before and came to a halt in front of a large wooden door.
The oldest granny walked up to it and knocked thrice and waited. A few seconds later the door opened and Hao Xuan saw the same female that was glaring at him outside.
Her expression looked nonchalant now as she glanced at Hao Xuan and Jin Wang emotionlessly and moved aside, allowing the old ladies to enter.
"Follow," one of them said without turning around and with a sigh, Hao Xuan and company obliged.
*Clank*
The door closed and locked as they stepped in. There were rolls of fur, hide, and leather placed around the room on what looked like tanning benches.
A thick herbal smell wafted out from around the closed room.
"Welcome, visitors. To our humble abode!" a decrepit voice came from the other end of the room, startling Hao Xuan.
When a cultivator reached the Spirit realm they could detect the presence of other living creatures without even trying. It was like a newfound ability which helped them stay alert and keep a track of their surroundings.
So when a voice came from seemingly thin air, it freaked him out quite a bit.
