Chapter 4205: Way of Existence! I
Malphas gazed around for a fleeting moment, a flicker of something ancient and sorrowful in his crimson eyes, a memory of a time when this place had been a different kind of prison.
Then he shook his head, the memory dissolving like smoke, and disappeared.
When he reappeared, he had crossed countless, impossible distances. He stood in the void of the Transcendent Origin Folds, an unknown number of light-years away from the decimated golden jewel of Aeternitas Concordia.
From here, the devastation was a distant, silent scar on the fabric of existence. He could see the Tears, the gaping, necrotic wounds in reality, and the brilliant, frantic lights of the Living Existences converging around them like antibodies rushing to a mortal wound.
His gaze swept over the battlefield, his perception a scalpel that dissected the chaos.
He saw the newly arrived forces, the strange, verdant glow of the Fold Dwellers from the Wandering Territories, beings who held an excess of one Quadrillion in complexity, just like him.
He saw the furious dance of Nysteria and the nine-headed turtle, a battle that was painting the sky in the colors of genesis and endings!
And yet, as he looked upon all this magnificent, terrible power, he felt nothing but a profound, chilling contempt.
Contempt!
"Ants," the thought was a cold, smooth stone in the river of his consciousness. "All of them. They scurry and fight, puffing up their chests with their trillions and quadrillions, thinking themselves masters of their own destiny. They have no idea. Across existence, beings millions of times more powerful than them have risen and fallen. They build their grand citadels and forge their alliances, all the while ignorant of the fundamental truth: they are nothing more than livestock."
HUUM!
His internal monologue was not rage, but a cold, philosophical certainty.
"They believe their power makes them different from the pigs and cattle of lesser worlds, but it does not. They will live their lives, accumulate their strength, and then one day, without warning, they will find themselves lying before the blade of a butcher, their lives no different."
"Because true power does not simply lie in complexity."
His gaze sharpened, a flicker of something almost proprietary in his crimson eyes.
"Even an Early Creature with 100 Quadrillion in Complexity and Purity would be weaker than My Lord. Because they are empty. They have no cards, no true potential... no Early Veiled Shore. No Infinite Mana. No Khor. No THE Living Order. No... me. Compared to the Lord, they would be nothing. And I... I have to move to rectify this discrepancy."
HUUM!
The air around him warped, and then, with a sound like a thousand crows taking flight at once...
CAA!
His body erupted. Thousands of horror-inducing obsidian crows, each with blazing crimson eyes, burst forth from his form like a flutter of dark feathers.
They did not fly; they melded into the surrounding space, their forms becoming one with the shadows between dimensions, and then they began to spread out, silent and unseen, towards the Heart of Origin and other critical areas across the Folds.
"Spread, unobserved" his thoughts were a cold, precise command.
"Find out all you can for me. Find out what Schrodinger is seeking... and more."
WAA!
A tremendous effort is being made. You are deploying a surveillance network that will span an entire Transcendent Fold. The quality of this effort is... Quintessential.
[The Principle of Perpetual Harvest] has noted your ambition. All intelligence gathered will be amplified, providing not just data, but context and potential future outcomes.
You currently hold the place as the most capable servant and butler. Keep up the good work.
Malphas looked at the prompts with a calm, almost dismissive gaze. He could do more. To make the Lord’s life easier as he sought a solution, he would take care of everything!
Feeding and nurturing the Inevitabilities. Nurturing himself. Nurturing the Land Lifeforms Heidrun and Yoshinami. Surveillance. And even... elevating his Lord.
He would do it all.
For he was Malphas.
And he was capable!
With a final, imperceptible flicker of brilliance, he disappeared in a wisp of dark smoke.
In the Early Veiled Shore, Noah stood near the Inevitability Ranch Sanctuary, a strange, beautiful smile on his face.
Khor floated near him, but his gaze was one of distant, profound amazement. Malphas... was undoubtedly efficient.
A detailed set of prompts, a report from his new attendant, flashed before his eyes.
Your servant, Malphas, has acted.
A portion of the Everythings of Fear and Hatred from THE Living Emotive have been unleashed upon the Transcendent Emotive Folds.
A preliminary harvest has been collected.
Complexity Gained for The Early Creature, Osmont: +50,000,000,000,000 (+50 Trillion)
Purity Gained for The Early Creature, Osmont: +50,000,000,000,000 (+50 Trillion)
A passive income of existential dread has been established. You will now gain power from the collective suffering of an entire Fold. How delightfully tyrannical.
Noah finished reading the prompts, a low whistle escaping his lips. "The servant of THE Living Emotive seems to have been a terrifying being."
Beside him, Khor nodded, her expression a mixture of ancient memory and present curiosity.
"Even though I hadn’t known that Emotive had entities it continued to give its Everythings of negative emotions to... all of it must have been for a reason. But yes, this is a unique weapon and support for you. It should propel your elevation even faster." She paused, her gaze turning sharp. "But when it comes to what you have recently learned regarding THE Living Emotive... they are not someone as pitiful as they appear."
"Oh?" Noah’s eyes rose, waiting.
Khor nodded, beginning to float lazily around the Shore, occasionally reaching out to pet one of the young, adoring Inevitabilities that had gathered around her.
"Out of all the Living Existences, THE Living Emotive was in control of emotions in a manner that others could not even fathom. It could potentially locate anything that was hiding. No matter how an existence conceals itself, emotions and feelings are the one thing they cannot hide. Unless one was a collapsed existence that had no signs of death or life... they would feel. And THE Living Emotive could sense all of that feeling. I was not able to hide from it. Nor could something like THE Creature hide from it."
