Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse

Chapter 4461: Civilization Specialization IV

Chapter 4461: Civilization Specialization IV

Specialization.

Some believed it meant limitation...surrendering the versatility of being capable in many areas to achieve excellence in one narrow domain.

These individuals viewed specialization as sacrificing potential breadth for depth, trading adaptability for focused capability.

Others believed it meant optimization, recognizing that attempting to master everything resulted in mastering nothing.

And that strategic allocation of resources toward specific functions produced superior results than diffuse distribution across all possibilities.

But in the scope of a Civilization, a true Civilization...specialization meant something far more profound.

It meant evolution.

It meant recognizing that a Civilization was not merely collection of powerful individuals, but an organism composed of differentiated cells, each performing distinct functions that contributed to the health and capability of the whole.

A body did not require every cell to be capable of everything.

The heart did not need to perform photosynthesis. The brain did not need to digest food. The liver did not need to pump blood.

Each organ, each system, each specialized component contributed its unique function...and through that contribution, the organism achieved capabilities that exceeded what any individual cell could accomplish regardless of its individual power.

Specialization, properly understood, was not limitation.

It was glory, it was majesty!

---

In a distant time.

In the Earliest Folds.

There existed a moment when a unique entity met another unique entity and they discussed The Ways of Existence while standing in frozen landscape that seemed to exist outside normal temporal flow.

One anomaly had said farewell to another before he took a single step and disappeared, traversing impossible distances through sheer force of his cultivated Way!

This anomaly was none other than Anaximander as his next step carried him countless territories distant.

He found himself floating in region surrounded by millions of floating Primordial Wheels of Existence, each one representing concentrated authority.

This brilliant Fold Dweller was particularly introspective at this time as he contemplated all the subjects he had discussed with Osmont during their unexpected meeting.

How Osmont had cautioned him regarding any entities possessing the distinction of THE.

Anaximander owed substantial debt to THE Weavers for what they had done to allow him to take that transformative step and embark upon his Way.

He was naturally curious by disposition as he wanted to understand more than he feared the unknown.

His mind brightened with audacity as he asked himself...

What if I simply tear apart the veil of mystery by directly meeting THE entities? Perhaps those encounters would prove as fruitful as the conversation with Osmont?

Across his existence, Anaximander had observed that countless beings feared what they did not comprehend.

The masses in his original world, no matter how many technological advances he and fellow scientists produced, inevitably feared what remained beyond their understanding.

He reasoned that if he could simply understand THE entities more directly, the veil of mystery would be systematically torn away, and genuine comprehension would become possible.

After all, he sought understanding with intensity that exceeded his desire for safety or comfort!

So his eyes brightened with characteristic determination as he spoke aloud to existence itself.

"When I take this next step, I will arrive before... the most powerful THE existence in these Folds..."

HUUM!

His Existence was grand. His Way grander.

So he took that step... and disappeared from that space entirely.

When he reappeared, he found himself observing scene that defied his understanding.

He manifested on golden sands of an unfathomably vast shore that stretched toward horizons that seemed to extend infinitely in all directions.

Anaximander blinked repeatedly at the scope of wonder surrounding him as his mind attempted to categorize what he perceived.

There existed massive trees that seemed to bear fruits composed of nurtured Principles.

Plots of cultivated land where Primordial Folds and Transcendent Folds were being grown like crops.

Massive structures of immense mystery and architectural wonder that suggested purposes beyond his current comprehension.

But at this moment, what drew his attention most prominently was an entity who appeared to be struggling to erect a tilted wall across one particularly vast plot of land.

Anaximander observed with growing curiosity as this figure pushed against the wall with visible effort, attempting to position it vertically rather than at its current severe angle.

The moment Anaximander fully manifested, this entity turned to regard him with expression of genuine surprise...gazing at the unexpected visitor with an analytical assessment while Anaximander performed an identical evaluation.

The entity appeared humanoid in general configuration but radiated authority that made surrounding existence acknowledge his presence.

His features were difficult to focus upon directly, as if his fundamental nature resisted simple observation.

Observing that this being required assistance with his construction project, Anaximander moved forward with directness.

"I apologize for this intrusion. I was seeking the most powerful THE existence across these Folds, and my Way delivered me here specifically. Are you the entity I sought? Do you need...help?"

...!

With these straightforward words, Anaximander positioned himself on one side of the tilted wall that this entity was attempting to erect properly.

He placed his hands against its surface to help stabilize and lift...

And for the first time since he began embarking upon his Way, he felt like he was holding something genuinely heavy.

Not heavy in simple physical sense, but heavy in existential sense!

The wall itself appeared deceptively simple upon initial observation.

Clean wooden construction without elaborate ornamentation.

But when Anaximander examined it more carefully with his analytical perception, he noticed extraordinary details.

One side of the wall bore vibrant fruits filled with pulsing life-force...entities that radiated vitality and growth and continuation.

The opposite side held fruits that seemed...dead, yet paradoxically shone with their own distinct vibrancy.

Not lifeless in sense of absence, but bearing a different quality of existence that was equally valid and complex.

As he studied this peculiar construction and what it separated with growing fascination, the entity who had been working on erecting this wall looked toward him and smiled with an expression of amusement.

"Why are you seeking THE entities so deliberately? There exists substantial danger if you encounter the wrong one. Not all of us are benevolent, and some possess... questionable ethics regarding how we interact with other beings."

Anaximander continued looking at the wall with intense interest...noting how it defied conventional physical properties. He replied while studying it with scientific fascination.

"I met a friend recently. Perhaps I can legitimately call him that despite brief acquaintance. He advised me to exercise some caution regarding THE existences."

His expression brightened with enthusiasm.

"But for good or bad, I am fundamentally a learner of existence and student of reality by core nature. My curiosity overwhelmed my caution, and I decided I wanted to stand before the most powerful THE specifically to understand that which I currently do not comprehend. Fear born from ignorance seems philosophically inferior to knowledge acquired through calculated risk."
