Chapter 4544: Conviction! I
Was his Origin real or fake?
Such a terrifying question was posed to Noah as he looked at the entity who asked it. His eyes burned with rapid calculation of just how this ridiculous situation could unfold in the next few moments.
For now, he had to establish himself clearly.
And so Noah’s body pulsed with concentrated light before moments later, brilliance of white and gold erupted to surround him completely. The pure Civilizational Authority of Origin flowed across his figure in waves, manifesting through his command of Primus Mana.
It was simply the transformation of Living Existential Authority of Origin expressed through his foundational Way.
While burning with such brilliant light that rivaled THE Living Origin’s own radiance, Noah replied with absolute certainty.
"I am unfathomably real," he said with voice carrying conviction.
The scene was striking in its visual intensity. Two figures blazing with the same white-gold authority, one a THE entity who had walked this path for eons, the other an anomaly from another time entirely.
THE Living Origin looked at the brilliant light surrounding Noah with an analytical assessment. She shook her head with a sense of calmness mixed with barely veiled amazement before eventually speaking her observations.
"Origin innately loves to be where it should be," she said with measured thoughtfulness. "And yet you are demonstrably not where you should be. There are very few reasons why an entity would be displaced across existence to such a degree."
Her eyes gleamed with sharp intelligence.
"Either they are simply very bored with their current circumstances, or the weavings of existence where they originate from are not favorable to their continued survival. Someone weak like you relative to the powers here would not be so bored as to voluntarily come to a place where you could be crushed at any moment by passing entities."
She tilted her head with conclusion forming.
"So I can reasonably assume that Origin, or at least your specific Origin, considers the weavings of existence where you are from to not be favorable. Not good at all, in fact."
Her eyes shone with ingenuity and power as she arrived at this critical point with shocking rapidity.
Noah looked at her as this being seemingly waited for confirmation. He spoke calmly without elaboration.
"No," he said simply. "The Weavings of Existence are not favorable at this time."
The words carried weight that spoke to catastrophic futures.
THE Living Origin sighed with something resembling weariness and frowned with visible concern. When she spoke again, her tone carried warning alongside curiosity.
"Do not tell me more than what is necessary," she said with unusual firmness. "Or really, do not tell me anything at all beyond the absolute minimum. Origin exists here in this time, and Origin exists there in your time. If you were to say the wrong things, you could unravel Origin across existence itself and collapse things you cannot even begin to fathom."
Her expression became more serious.
"The violation of temporal causality would be the least of the issues such revelations could cause. But since you came all this way and endured so much to arrive here, what exactly are you looking for?"
What was he looking for?
Such a question was grand in its simplicity. Noah replied with equal directness and calm certainty.
"I am looking for the power of THE," he said without hesitation. "I need to attain THE Civilizational Scale."
His goal was unfathomably clear and unambiguous.
When she heard this straightforward answer, THE Living Origin actually smiled with something resembling amusement mixed with melancholy.
"In The Infinite Unfurling, there are many who have achieved THE," she said with philosophical observation. "And yet all of them have their own profound problems that power alone cannot solve. Do you really think your problems could be solved simply by obtaining the power of THE?"
The question cut to the heart of assumptions.
Could the problems that he faced be solved by achieving THE? Could The Fallout be survived if he possessed THE Civilizational Authority?
This was the only thought that had been driving him forward with relentless determination. To make absolutely certain that he and those he loved would not be collapsed into oblivion in the near future.
So he replied with decisive conviction.
"Yes," he said with absolute certainty. "What matters is the power of THE. That alone is a good starting point for addressing what must be faced."
At such a reply, THE Living Origin’s expression shifted subtly. She began walking toward Noah with measured steps while speaking words that carried unexpected weight.
"Okay," she said with decision made. "Since you carry the light of Origin within you and since the weavings of existence are not favorable in the future you come from, I can help you achieve what you seek."
She paused directly in front of him.
"But before I commit to this, I need to see and verify the Conviction of your Origin. The strength of your determination. May I?"
As her words finished, she raised her hand and it began shining with concentrated white-gold brilliance. She was asking him to allow her power to wrap around his existence directly, to not defend?
Noah’s existence buzzed as he contemplated such an action. THE Organ of Civilization spun rapidly in his mind, processing risk and potential. He felt The Barrier of Hunger that Tor had placed upon him ready to activate at the first sign of lethal threat.
His eyes pulsed with decisiveness as he made his choice.
He nodded with acceptance.
He could feel the terrifying potency of the white-gold light in front of him, saturated with THE Civilizational Authority of Origin at its absolute peak. He looked into the calm eyes of THE Living Origin and breathed steadily.
In the next moment, the light descended onto him with overwhelming force.
He did not fight against it. His intuition, his very Primus Mana, was what he was listening to and nothing else at this critical juncture.
The moment the terrifying light of THE Sovereignty of Origin wrapped completely around his existence, Noah’s eyes began to flutter with sudden exhaustion. They closed in the next instant as if he had lost consciousness and fallen into impossibly deep sleep.
His standing figure went completely limp as it began to fall forward.
Lumivara yelped with alarm as she reached over desperately to catch him, but she was not fast enough to prevent the collapse.
The figure of THE Living Origin moved with speed that defied perception. She appeared behind Noah’s falling form and gently caught him before he could hit the ground.
She lowered herself to sit upon the grass with careful motion, positioning Noah’s head to rest upon her lap with surprising gentleness.
She studied his sleeping face with analytical curiosity while her hands moved to stroke his hair in an almost maternal gesture, observing the faint light of Origin around him.
Beside her, Lumivara trembled with fear and confusion as she asked with voice barely controlled.
"What...did you do to him?" she demanded with as much authority as she could muster against such an overwhelming entity.
THE Living Origin did not look up from her examination of Noah’s peaceful expression. Her hands continued stroking his hair with steady rhythm as she spoke with calm explanation.
"He is simply facing a test of the Conviction of his Origin," she said with matter-of-fact tone. "As long as his conviction is strong enough and his determination genuine, he will wake in a few days. If his conviction proves weak or false, he may never wake again from this sleep, forever remaining here in The Infinite Unfurling."
She paused before adding.
"Such is existence. Such is life. Conviction is either real or it is not."
After such heavy words, white-gold clouds began materializing beneath her seated figure. They wrapped around her and Noah’s sleeping form with gentle support as they began to lift into the air and float forward.
THE Living Origin tapped her finger once against the air itself, and the radiant white barrier of light that demarcated the boundary of the Outer Periphery responded to her command. A sizable opening appeared in the previously impenetrable wall.
She did not turn around as she spoke to Lumivara with a casual instruction.
"Come, Little Light," she said while floating through the opening. "If you wish to remain with him, you will follow."
With such words spoken, this terrifying entity holding Noah’s head protectively in her lap floated deeper into an equally terrifying domain beyond the Outer Periphery.
Lumivara stood frozen for only a moment before her decision crystallized. She followed behind with determination overcoming fear, entering the second ring of THE Northern Unfurling Node of Existence.
Waves of mystery and unanswered questions followed them into the unknown!
What test was Noah’s Origin facing in his unconscious state?
Would his conviction prove sufficient to wake again?
And what exactly did THE Living Origin intend to do while he slept helplessly in her care?
