Chapter 4761: What?! II
While a debate was about to unfold in THE Agora of Primordial Judgment.
There was a particular question worthy of an answer that Noah had also wondered a few times.
THE Living Paradox had his Loom for his War against THE Creature.
Those who sided with THE Living Paradox made the gains they made through him and through THE Fallout. They received positions within THE Loom. They gained access to resources and authority that elevated their power. They became instruments of Paradox’s designs.
But what of THE Creature?
What of those who fought alongside THE Creature? Those whose Civilizations were collapsed by THE Living Paradox? Those who had stood on the opposite side of the conflict and paid the price for it?
One could make the argument that THE Creature was much more powerful than THE Living Paradox. So what did those who stood alongside him gain? What rewards awaited the faithful who had been crushed by the enemy?
Noah had pondered such a question.
And as he was talking with Anaximander in the Early Veiled Shore of THE Creature...
HUUM!
The skies of this endless shore began to vibrate!
From above, Existence shuddered with awe and glory as something began to form. Something that radiated authority beyond what most beings could comprehend. Something that made the very fabric of reality bow in acknowledgment.
An Embodiment!
A power of an Absolute!
Noah raised his gaze up sharply as...he didn’t see any force of life as this Embodiment seemed to be just that alone, an Embodiment sent out across Existence.
And he saw things differently compared to others.
He saw clusters of 18 Phonemes make up a single Logos. Then 81 of those Logos intertwined and multiplied endlessly to form 729 Philologies. And these Philologies twisted and distorted against each other to simply declare the Embodiment that burned with THE Way of... Existence!
The construction was beyond anything he had witnessed before. Layer upon layer of linguistic authority building toward a singular expression of absolute power. The First Tongue being wielded at a scale that made his own achievements look meager!
The Embodiment blazed with multicolored radiance that contained every hue that could be perceived and many that could not. It was formless yet defined. Abstract yet undeniably present. A manifestation of the simple, overwhelming truth that things WERE rather than WERE NOT.
And then it spoke with an utterly glorious, booming voice.
The Voice of...THE Creature.
"Those who have stood alongside Existence shall be rewarded."
The voice was not loud, yet it resonated through every particle of reality within the Early Veiled Shore.
"Those who have suffered for their loyalty shall be elevated."
The words carried weight that pressed down upon everything.
"Those who have been collapsed shall rise again, stronger than before."
BOOM!
Right after, beams of incandescent multicolored light shot out from the Embodiment!
They descended with the inevitability of gravity itself!
One smashed onto THE Living Origin!
One smashed onto THE First Hunger!
One smashed onto Anaximander!
Noah’s eyes remained locked on the Embodiment as the beam produced from it which struck Anaximander was a glorious one. He could feel it from meters away. Its immensity was suffocating enough to make one fall to their knees!
And across the Early Veiled Shore, beings did drop to their knees!
But Noah remained standing defiantly.
His own foundation, compressed though it was by the distance from his primary body, refused to bow. His Seals of Absolute Tongue pulsed with recognition of the linguistic mastery being displayed, and his eyes burned with the tyranny that defined his Way.
He saw the sheer existence of Anaximander pulse with immensity!
He saw THE Living Origin and Tor, THE First Hunger, undergo transformations that defied normal progression!
The immensity of their Depths rapidly began to rise!
They crossed into THE Intermediate Depth threshold!
They surged toward THE Fundamental Depth!
But then something unique happened.
BOOM!
From the descending pillars of light, multicolored hammers bloomed!
They smashed onto THE Living Origin and THE First Hunger as if compressing their Depth! Packing more and more immensity into them! Condensing power that should have elevated them further into denser, more refined foundations!
While they remained at Intermediate Depth, the Weight they gave off increased more and more!
It was like watching someone forge a blade. Taking raw material and hammering it repeatedly until what remained was harder, sharper, more dangerous than the original substance could ever have been.
Their foundations were being perfected!
Anaximander was unique.
He didn’t seem to emanate any waves of immensity. His form remained as calm and unassuming as ever, that ancient scientist who had seen more of Existence than most could imagine. Yet he seemed to be benefiting in his own way.
At this moment, he had a wry smile bloom as he looked toward Noah.
"Ah, my friend, it seems I must go right some wrongs."
His voice was light despite the overwhelming pressure surrounding them.
"Just like you called for me not too long ago, right now, THE Creature is calling out to me."
His eyes grew distant as if hearing something beyond normal perception.
"He has said... Come, Anaximander!"
HUUM!
The words were heavy!
Anaximander began to float upward, drawn by authority that transcended distance and dimension. His hand let go of the vibrant stick he had been carrying.
THE Goad of THE Creature!
It fell toward the grouns as Anaximander’s Weavings began to disappear, his form becoming translucent as he was pulled toward whatever summons THE Creature had issued.
He looked toward Noah one final time.
"I will also come if you need me, just let me know."
His smile remained warm despite the forces acting upon him.
"For now, if you can take care of things here just until after I return, that will b-"
WAP!
Before his words even finished, Anaximander disappeared!
Gone in an instant, summoned by THE Creature to destinations unknown for purposes that only those at THE Absolute level could comprehend.
Noah remained imperious.
His gaze landed on THE Goad of THE Creature as it fell, the ancient artifact pulsing as it remained upright.
He gazed over to Tor and THE Living Origin.
The former gazed up with a look of annoyance and defiance. As if he didn’t want this. As if being elevated by THE Creature’s power was somehow an insult to his pride. His body trembled with the effort of containing the compressed foundation being forced upon him.
"This...!" Tor growled through gritted teeth. "I didn’t ask for this!"
But the hammer continued to fall regardless.
While THE Living Origin... had a saddened gaze.
As if she didn’t care much for this elevation. As if she wanted something else entirely. Her ancient eyes held depths of loss that no amount of power could fill. Whatever she truly desired, it was not strength.
Noah looked at all of this with calculating eyes.
It seemed those THE Creature considered to have sided with him were getting boons and elevations right now.
THE Living Origin he could understand. She had been one of THE Creature’s most devoted followers before THE Living Paradox collapsed her Civilization and cast her adrift.
But Tor?
Tor was killed by THE Creature!
Was this his way of paying back? His way of acknowledging that the death had been... what? A mistake? Or simply a debt that needed settling?
And if THE Living Origin was receiving this boon because she had been collapsed by THE Living Paradox before...
Noah’s gaze rapidly changed!
His eyes flickered with realization!
His consciousness surged toward Muspelheim!
