Chapter 4768: Change! II
Many significant entities across Existence had sensed that something had changed regarding The First Tongue when Noah had initially designed the nine brand new Phonemes. They had felt disturbances in the linguistic fabric. They had perceived alterations to something that should have been immutable.
But they did not know exactly what.
At this moment, the one who designed what was new allowed for it to be fully spread out!
And it was only after he was ready to tax everyone on it!
So this Declaration, even though it was simple in nature, began to grow in immensity and grandeur!
It permeated across THE Agora of Primordial Judgment!
It spread even further, reaching toward the boundaries of this Corrupted Domain!
It grew from a Declaration... and went toward an Embodiment!
Well, partial.
A power that only a special subset of beings held across Existence!
It burned brightly to become... another Partial Embodiment that Noah had uttered!
The First Tongue had been altered!
And at this time, THE Genesis Monarch made it available to all!
---
Across Observable Existence.
Countless things were tainted and corrupted, but the musings of Paradox and Existence continued clashing like always.
At this moment, if one could envision an endless sea of obsidian-gold Paradox and an endless sea of multicolored Existence clashing... they would see the meeting of an unstoppable force going against an immovable object!
Two fundamental approaches to reality engaged in eternal conflict!
Two of THE Four locked in struggle that had defined the shape of everything since before differentiation!
Everything seemed to be at a balance in these endlessly roiling seas of conflict.
Paradox pushed against Existence.
Existence pushed back against Paradox.
Neither gained ground.
Neither lost it.
An equilibrium maintained across fronts that spanned Observable Existence itself.
And yet at this time...
A subtle change bloomed!
Something that affected both!
At the center of the endlessly twisting sea of Paradox, the visage of THE Living Paradox could be observed.
All around him, unfathomable waves of immensity seethed! Obsidian-gold light that contradicted itself with every fluctuation! Authority so profound that reality simply stopped trying to make sense in his presence!
And at this moment, his barely discernible face frowned.
He sensed something.
The Phonemes of The First Tongue that existed in the periphery of this place buzzed with new energy. They vibrated with alterations that should have been impossible. They carried meanings that had not existed moments before.
He turned his attention toward them.
And yes, they were in the periphery.
Because gloriously, for gigaparsecs around THE Living Paradox, there was only Paradox.
Around him, Existence was not made up of substrates and particles that everyone knew. There were no conventional building blocks of reality. There was only Paradox! Absolute Paradox! A domain where contradiction was the fundamental law and impossibility was the default state! No First Tongue. No Chaos. No Existence. Only...PARADOX!
But Existence was still Existence.
And The First Tongue permeated across Existence.
Even here, in the periphery of Paradox’s domain, language existed. Even here, Phonemes carried meaning. Even here, the oldest authority maintained its presence.
At this time, he sensed the alteration in The First Tongue.
A new makeup freely unveiled itself!
The perceptive eyes of THE Living Paradox were grand as he very quickly saw through everything. He saw new musings of The First Tongue freely express themselves as they were...
"Infinity..."
He listed the first one, tasting the concept as it manifested before his perception.
"Quintessence..."
His frown deepened.
"Tyranny... Fortune... Advantage..."
Each Phoneme he named seemed to pulse with recognition of being observed by something at his level.
"Narrative... Harvest... Hunger... Potential..."
The Paradoxical seas around him seethed with agitation!
Nine new Phonemes!
Nine additions to The First Tongue!
Nine changes to something that had remained unchanged since he himself had laid his own Claim!
This was a change.
And change could be good.
Change could be bad.
Or in this case... change simply complicated things!
THE Living Paradox gazed out from his domain of absolute contradiction. He didn’t even look toward the distant multicolored sea of Existence that he had been fighting against in multiple different fronts across Observable Existence.
He gazed out toward the far distance.
Toward where THE Weavers had reported discovering Osmont before information from them became cut off. Toward the last known location of his instruments before silence had descended. Toward where something was clearly happening that demanded his attention.
He thought about many things.
The Scale Breaker who had claimed The First Tongue.
The anomaly who had forged new Phonemes.
The variable who kept introducing unpredictability into carefully laid plans.
And then... he smiled.
It was not a pleasant expression.
It was the smile of someone who saw opportunity in apparent setback.
"Change is change."
His voice echoed across the Paradoxical seas with authority that made contradictions multiply!
"Change to The First Tongue is a change with wide-ranging consequences."
His obsidian-gold eyes burned with the light of something that had existed since before differentiation itself.
"I was waiting for this unpredictability. I was waiting for the Paradox of change to the language that cannot be changed."
His smile widened.
"Every utilization will now aid you. Every time someone uses your precious new Phonemes, you will gain from it. This is your trap."
He laughed.
The sound made reality itself flinch.
"But I can pay the cost, Osmont."
His voice carried across distances that defied conventional measurement.
"I can pay it."
BOOM!
With such words, change was ushered across Observable Existence!
This time enacted by another one of THE Four!
THE Living Paradox acknowledged the alteration to The First Tongue. He accepted that his own usage of Infinity, Quintessence, Tyranny, and the others would now feed the one who had created them.
And he was willing to pay that price.
Because whatever advantage Osmont gained from harvesting usage of his Phonemes...
THE Living Paradox was confident it would not be enough.
Not nearly enough.
The Paradox of paying taxes to your enemy while still crushing them... that was a contradiction he could embrace!
And across Observable Existence, the change began fully spreading all around!
A man had imposed a tax.
And he wanted to be paid!
