Chapter 5042: Nakatsukuni! II
Osmont listened calmly as they continued through the gray expanse before asking his question.
"You would not happen to be at the Calymmian Proterozoic Scale or Ediacaran, would you? This would make things very easy."
Naldine looked back at him and did not reply.
She simply stared out toward where they were going, letting silence serve as answer enough.
After a moment, she continued as if the question had never been asked.
"Rhyacian Proterozoic Lifeforms alone are a problem for you. If we put Beowulf on the lowest tier, someone could be stronger than him by a factor of ten and still be a Rhyacian Proterozoic Lifeform."
She glanced at him to ensure he understood the scale of what she was describing.
"As I mentioned, Infinity and THE Primordial Source are ideal. But because they can be so distant, most of us focus on what is Observable and Unobservable. We take that into our Civilizations."
Her explanation shifted into something more fundamental.
"All of existence divides into two categories. The Observable and the Unobservable. Everything that can be perceived, measured, witnessed, or acknowledged falls into the Observable. Everything that cannot falls into the Unobservable."
She gestured at the gray Interstices around them.
"The Observable is what you currently see, what can be seen, what has been seen, what will be seen. The accumulated force of all potential perception pressing against existence from every angle. When something enters the Observable, it gains substance through acknowledgment. It becomes real in ways that unwitnessed things are not."
Her voice grew more contemplative as she described the counterpart.
"The Unobservable is not simply what you cannot see. It is what exists beyond the possibility of perception. What has never been witnessed and never will be. The vast darkness surrounding everything acknowledged, pressing inward with force that dwarfs what the Observable contains. For every star that shines, countless more burn in regions no consciousness will ever reach."
She watched his expression for signs of comprehension before continuing.
"At THE Proterozoic Scale, we learn to draw from both. We infuse and integrate the force of all that is Observable, or the force of all that is Unobservable, into our existence."
The technical details came easily to her after eons of living them.
"Those accomplished enough can form Proterozoic Bones or Organs even without the infusion of Infinity, if they fill them with enough weavings of either Observable or Unobservable. After they have transformed enough of their existence, when they pass a certain marker, they go from Rhyacian Proterozoic Lifeforms to Calymmian Proterozoic Lifeforms."
She explained as best she could because she knew the stakes involved. There were beings at the Calymmian Proterozoic Scale who would very much like to put their hands on this infinite battery floating beside her. Knowledge might be the only thing keeping him alive when those beings eventually made their moves.
And after all this talking...
HUUM!
She finally felt them nearing their destination as white-gold light flickered at the edges of the gray expanse.
They finished crossing the Interstices as Naldine wrapped her authority around both of them and took a single step. Instantly, the two of them appeared in an endless field of white stretching in every direction without boundary or feature, a space between spaces where nothing existed until permission was granted.
Naldine voiced out commandingly with her authority pressing into the blankness.
"Naldine Manthon."
HUUM!
After stating her name in this endless white space, existence flickered once more as brilliant verdant light wrapped around the two of them. The white dissolved into color and sensation and the feeling of somewhere specific rather than nowhere at all.
They found themselves standing on vibrant plains.
Naldine did not much care for natural beauty after eons of witnessing it across countless regions of Observable Existence, but she could appreciate the craftsmanship here nonetheless as this place...was built and carved by someone. The grass beneath their feet held coloring so rich it seemed painted rather than grown, emerald blades swaying in breezes that carried warmth without humidity. Distant mountains rose against skies holding shades of blue that deepened toward purple at the horizons, their peaks touched by mists.
Away from these plains stood a massive and glorious set of structures.
The buildings ahead followed architectural principles that prioritized harmony with their surroundings rather than dominance over them.
Traditional designs built with natural materials, timber and stone and clay arranged uniquely. Gently sloping tiled roofs curved upward at their edges, their surfaces glazed in colors that shifted between gray and blue depending on how light struck them. Wooden pillars supported overhanging eaves providing shelter and shade, their surfaces aged to warm browns that spoke of centuries rather than years.
The structures connected through courtyards and covered walkways, each building relating to its neighbors in configurations designed for wonder.
Some courtyards held gardens of carefully arranged stones and pruned trees. Others held ponds reflecting the sky above with clarity that made their surfaces seem like windows into inverted worlds.
The layout showed simplicity and organic growth guided by consistent principles, each addition respecting what came before while contributing something new to the whole.
Naldine began walking toward the structures as Osmont fell into step beside her.
"Welcome to a domain hidden between spaces, between Observable and Unobservable. Welcome to Nakatsukuni."
She glanced at him with an expression suggesting her next words were not optional.
"Do not do anything crazy here as...well, you can sense and see it."
He should not do anything crazy because as they neared the structures, Noah could sense ans see what she meant. The figures and auras of hundreds of terrifying First Scale entities at the level of Absolutes pressed against his awareness from various buildings and courtyards, apex beings who would have been considered overwhelming threats in any other context.
And...a few Proterozoic Scale entities added their presence to the collective force, their authority making THE First Scale beings seem dim by comparison.
And above all of them, the brilliance of one that stood supreme here blazed like a sun among candles!
That...should be the Singular Cognizance!
