Chapter 2791: Turning Tables

Chapter 2791: Turning Tables

Tingxue’s eyebrows shot up. She picked up something amiss about Firework’s voice, as if she were some perverted auntie. She placed her finger on her robe, but she couldn’t bring herself to take off her clothes.

Firework scoffed, “You’re still lacking in the path of Nebula.”

Zu An seemed to have guessed Tingxue’s worry as he said, “Don’t worry, our divine senses don’t work in this world. It’s impossible to see through the flowers and bushes with our eyes.”

Their normal selves could see through trees with divine sense easily, which was why Tingxue was so awkward.

Tingxue nodded before unraveling her waistband. Her robe slid down.

Even through the flowers, Zu An could still see her smooth and radiant skin. His breathing became unnatural. He quickly reined himself in and undid his clothes.

“Come...” A pair of fair hands was extended toward him.

Zu An raised his hands and met her palms. It felt like touching a piece of ice or fine jade, and it stirred an urge to pull her into his embrace. He was shocked that, despite his mental fortitude, he could still harbor such thoughts. In a way, it showed how alluring Tingxue was.

“Calm your mind. Circulate your inner energy using the formula I imparted to you,” Tingxue instructed. Her quivering voice revealed that she was nowhere as calm as she appeared.

Zu An felt ashamed. He quickly reined himself in and did as he was told. Under her guidance, he was able to grasp the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra quickly. Steam soon rose from their bodies as if they were in a sauna.

Firework had come out to watch the show, but her severe injuries weighed her down. It didn’t feel like much at first, but even craning her neck over to take a better look was a challenge now. This made her feel frustrated.

That fellow Zu An does have a nice figure. Tingxue’s skin is also fairer and smoother than snow.

Firework became groggy due to her injuries, and it looked as if she had fallen asleep.

It would have taken even a talented martial artist months to learn the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra, but Zu An’s knowledge far surpassed this world’s level, and Tingxue was aiding him. It took him around half a day to master the technique.

Tingxue opened her eyes. “You have mastered the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra. That’s probably as far as the Ancient Tomb Sect’s founder reached.”

Zu An was about to answer when he heard a crashing sound. Firework had collapsed to the ground. Shocked, he rushed over to support her.

Tingxue’s face reddened. Due to Zu An’s abrupt movement, she caught sight of something she shouldn’t have in her peripheral vision.

But Zu An couldn’t bother with that now. He hurriedly inspected Firework’s condition—her severe injuries had induced extreme weakness in her. Her body was burning up in a high fever.

Tingxue had already put on her robe by this point, and while tidying herself up, she asked, “How is she doing?”

Zu An was in no mood to enjoy the sight. He quickly shared Firework’s condition.

“Bring her to the Cold Jade Bed for treatment,” Tingxue instructed.

“Alright!” Zu An belatedly realized he was still naked, and that made him feel awkward.

While he was searching for clothes, Tingxue passed a robe over and said, “Wrap yourself up.”

Zu An quickly draped the robe over himself before carrying Firework and sprinting back to the Cold Jade Bed.

The cold of the chamber caused the feverish Firework to snuggle closer to Zu An, as if only his body warmth could comfort her.

“You have to channel the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra to treat her right away,” Tingxue said grimly.

“Miss, may I trouble you to start a fire by the side?” Zu An asked.

Tingxue did as she was told. By now, all three of them understood how the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra could be synergized with the Cold Jade Bed to treat severe internal injuries. The crux was to nourish Firework’s meridians with a flow of pure yang energy before neutralizing that energy with the Cold Jade Bed.

The Cold Jade Bed served to dispel the heat and prevent any clots, lest the injuries worsen.

But there was a limit to a martial artist’s inner energy in this world. It would be tough for an individual to overcome the Cold Jade Bed’s chill with inner energy alone, so it would be ideal to start a fire next to the bed. Zu An could draw the pure yang energy from the fire and amplify it with his innate yang inner energy to heal Firework’s injuries continuously.

It was theoretically similar to how Master Yideng healed others with his[1] Yiyang Finger. It was slower, but it came without the downside of temporarily losing one’s inner energy and being unable to move one’s hands for several years.

Tingxue quickly gathered some dry branches and started a fire.

Zu An carefully placed Firework down on the Cold Jade Bed, but the cold made her embrace Zu An more tightly. She was shivering so much that even her teeth were chattering.

Zu An quickly infused some energy into her body to alleviate her chill. He was about to begin the treatment when Tingxue hurriedly stopped him.

“Do you intend to begin treatment just like that?”

Zu An was startled. “We can’t drag out her treatment any longer.”

Tingxue huffed. “I’m not stopping you from treating her, but no heat should be retained in your bodies during the crucial phase of the treatment. The two of you need to strip, just as you did when cultivating the Jade Maiden Heart Sutra.”

Zu An was stunned.

It dawned on him why Tingxue had told him to just drape a robe around himself earlier. He didn't have to put on clothes when he needed to strip very soon for the treatment. However, if he were to strip Firework, she would obliterate all of them when she regained her powers.

Firework sensed what was going on and murmured, “No...”

Unfortunately, her feeble words carried little persuasiveness.

Zu An looked at Tingxue for help, but the latter calmly replied, “Why are you looking at me? You can decide whether you want to save her or not.”

“Alright, I’ll do it.”

On the one hand, Zu An didn’t wish to see Firework’s death despite everything that had happened. On the other hand, he was unsure what the conditions to clear the Deity of Death’s trial were. It was possible that Firework’s character could play a crucial role.

So, he requested Tingxue to strip Firework, but she looked at him quizzically and asked, “Isn’t that unnecessary? You’ll still be baring your bodies to each other even if I strip her.”

Unlike in the shrubs, there was no cover on the Cold Jade Bed to shield their bare bodies from each other. They would only be more intimate, especially with the cold-averse Firework hugging him so tightly.

“May I trouble you to excuse yourself?” Zu An asked awkwardly.

“I need to be here to ensure the fire continues burning sufficiently. The slightest problem here may endanger both of you,” Tingxue replied with a straight face.

Zu An was speechless.
