Chapter 2828: Contract Galaxy

Chapter 2828: Contract Galaxy

“He seems like a gentle, knowledgeable, and wise man, as well as a good father who dotes on his daughter.” Zu An thought about his encounter with Aragorn. “He wouldn’t have raised such an adorable daughter otherwise.”

Isabella’s face reddened. “He isn’t that good. He’s fierce at times.” She was happy that Zu An had such a good impression of her father.

Worried that he would see through her, she dared not linger too much on her father and quickly changed the topic, “Fourth Elder Mastema is also known as the Gold Avarice.”

Zu An was surprised. “That nickname doesn’t mean anything good.”

Isabella hesitantly replied, “The Fourth Elder doesn’t have a good reputation. He’s greedy, cunning, and lustful like you. He has a lot of concubines and children, so much so that he can’t even remember the names of many of his children.”

Zu An was speechless. I didn’t expect to get implicated.

Isabella suddenly realized what she had just said and tried to salvage the situation. “But the Fourth Elder is fat and ugly. The women he’s with are clearly not looking for romance, so it’s different from the situation big brother Zu is in.”

“You aren’t helping with your explanation.” Zu An didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “It’s to be expected. As one of the Universal Conglomerate’s seven elders, he’s bound to have countless women throwing themselves at him. I’d say the Second Elder is in the minority.”

“You’re right. All the elders, except for the Second Elder, have many concubines. Even my father, despite loving my mother so much, has many mistresses.” Isabella’s face darkened.

Feeling guilt-ridden, Zu An quickly changed the topic. “What about the Fifth Elder?”

Displeasure flickered across Isabella’s face. “Fifth Elder Lilith has an extreme personality. She tends to act irrationally. Many say that she has lost her mind, but I know for certain that she hasn’t. It’s just her personality.

“Like the Fourth Elder, she is very lustful and has many male pets. Big brother Zu, you mustn’t get seduced by her. That woman will gobble you whole!”

Zu An burst into laughter. “Do you see me as someone who falls in love with every woman I see? Don’t worry, I have high standards. I only like kind and innocent ladies.”

Sensing Zu An’s gaze on her, Isabella lowered her head in embarrassment. She continued meekly, “Sixth Elder Naraka gives off a heavy and desolate atmosphere. Even machines are more animated than him. His presence strikes fear in me.”

Zu An was surprised. “Is he a Nebula worshiper?”

Isabella shook her head. “I don’t think so. The feeling he gives off is different from big sister Tingxue. Our Universal Conglomerate mostly worships the Deity of Order, with some worshiping the Deity of Protection as well. It’s unlikely for someone among us to worship a universal deity who strays too far from that.”

The mention of Tingxue made Zu An’s heart sink. Tingxue should be Yan Xuehen, but I wonder what happened to her that caused her to lose her memories. It’s a pity she's elusive, so I don’t know where I can look for her.

Isabella keenly noticed Zu An’s shift in emotions and consoled, “Does big brother Zu miss big sister Tingxue? Don’t worry. Big sister Tingxue is strong enough to overcome most trouble that appears in her way. I’m sure she’ll return to look for you once she’s done with whatever matter she has on hand.”

“You’re truly meticulous, Bella,” Zu An said. He was surprised that given her elevated background, she didn’t grow up to be an arrogant little princess.

“I’m just saying whatever comes to mind.” Isabella’s face reddened when Zu An called her by an intimate nickname—Bella. She did a light cough before continuing, “Seventh Elder Viktor is a very calm person, to the point of being emotionless. He manages the Conglomerate’s contracts. His impartiality is doubted by none.”

Zu An proceeded to ask more about the seven elders. Isabella told him everything she knew.

Following that, they chatted about what happened after they parted ways.

Zu An listened to her thoughts, while Isabella learned about the appearances of Divine Palaces in the Cultivation World and the disappearance of his lovers.

“My father looks worried as of late. Something huge might be happening to the Myriad Worlds,” Isabella remarked. “But big brother Zu, you don’t have to be too worried. It’s normal for universal deities to dispatch their Divine Palaces to different worlds. That’s how they propagate their greatness and expand their faith. Your friends will metamorphose after clearing their trials.”

“I can only hope that’s the case.”

“Big brother Zu, have you saved big sister Chuyan? Did my father’s card work?”

Zu An was speechless. Didn’t you already see her in person? He knew she was trying to confirm Chu Chuyan’s identity through this indirect questioning, but he wasn’t averse to it. If anything, he thought she was adorable.

“Yes, I’ve managed to save her. It’s all thanks to your father and Bella,” Zu An replied with a mischievous grin.

Isabella’s heart pounded furiously. Oh no, big brother Zu saw through my thoughts. “You’re too polite, big brother Zu. I think my father is looking for me. I’ll have to hang up first.”

She anxiously hung up her call.

Zu An suddenly noticed something. He got up and opened the door—Chu Chuyan was standing outside, her usually cold appearance still tinged with evening hues.

“It’s all your fault. I was so embarrassed.”

“Don’t worry, Bella is a kind lady. She won’t go around talking about it.”

“Is that the issue here? How am I supposed to face her in the future?”

“She has chosen to circumvent the topic. We can just continue that.”

“I’m about to go insane.”

...

While traveling through space, Zu An wanted to talk to Mi Li about the reforging of her body, but she didn’t appear. He noticed that Mi Li’s hibernations had been growing longer. Does this mean something?

In the meantime, he explored Chu Chuyan’s cultivation, hoping to raise her strength by borrowing the powers of a universal deity. To his surprise, she had no affinity with any of the universal deities' paths. In other words, she was rejected by all the paths.

Chu Chuyan wasn’t bothered by it. She had already cultivated for many years without relying on the universal deities; she was confident of finding a path herself.

Time flew by. While the two of them were cultivating, they received a notification from Aphrodite, telling them that they had arrived at the Contract Galaxy.

They made their way out to the link bridge and saw brilliant golden lights. Flowing through the Contract Galaxy were countless gold coins.

Zu An and Chu Chuyan possessed considerable wealth themselves, but they were still blinded by this extravagant display of wealth. The Universal Conglomerate was indeed loaded!
