Chapter 3243: Helping The Ice Drakes

Chapter 3243: Helping The Ice Drakes

Only the faint hum of the eggs and the flicker of frost light illuminated the chamber.

Lin Mu took one last look at the slain enemy before flicking his hand, gathering all the spatial storage tools on its body before burning the corpse into dust with a burst of pure fire qi.

’No trace of the Ephemera Sect’s filth should remain here.’ Lin Mu thought.

Then he turned toward main hall, where the teleportation array was carved into the icy floor. His immortal sense extended into the array, locking onto the coordinates of the southern battlefield where the Elder Ice Drake had last reported distress.

He clenched his fists. He could still sense faint pulses of pain through the link he shared with his beasts. They were observing and feeling what the elder felt with their own senses. The elder was alive, but barely.

The poison affecting the Ice Drakes was spreading fast.

"There’s no time," Lin Mu said quietly.

He drew out a talisman, a slip of white jade inscribed with an instant spatial connection formation. As he crushed it between his fingers, the runes ignited in a flare of light, linking to the large array.

The entire hatchery trembled as the teleportation circle activated.

The last thing Lin Mu saw before vanishing was the quiet shimmer of the Ice Drake eggs, resting peacefully under layers of enchanted frost. He silently vowed that none of them would ever fall to the hands of the Ephemera Sect.

A heartbeat later, the chamber was empty, save for the faint trail of molten footprints that cooled slowly in the icy air.

And far away, deep within the mountains of the southern range that echoed with the cries of the Ice Drakes, a ripple of light announced Lin Mu’s arrival as he stepped through the spatial array, ready to face whatever awaited the surviving Ice Drakes.

The world came back into focus in a rush of frost and light as Lin Mu appeared beside the wounded Ice Drakes.

His boots landed on shattered ice, the faint hum of spatial ripples dispersing around him. The once-proud valleys of crystalline beauty now looked more like a battlefield. Deep grooves scarred the ice floor where massive bodies had thrashed in pain, and the air was thick with the metallic scent of blood mixed with a faint, acrid bitterness... the smell of poison.

Tens upon tens of Ice Drakes lay sprawled across the valley’s frozen floor.

Their scales, usually glittering with majestic hues of blue and white, had dulled into sickly shades of gray. Their breaths came in ragged hisses, plumes of frost escaping their nostrils only to melt into water halfway.

The faint whimpers of younger drakes echoed in the chamber like mournful sighs.

Lin Mu’s heart sank at the sight, his gaze quickly darting toward the others who were already hard at work.

Monk Hushu sat cross-legged upon a raised slab of ice, his bald head glistening with sweat despite the utter cold. Golden light radiated from his body as he chanted continuously, his voice steady and compassionate.

The deep vibrations of his Buddhist scriptures resonated through the valley, forming waves of calm energy that seemed to anchor the Ice Drakes’ faltering life force. Every syllable of his chant carried power, weaving spiritual threads that slowed the progression of the poison and soothed their writhing forms.

Beside him, Daoist Chu was a flurry of motion, his sleeves stained with medicinal herbs and elixirs. He crushed a pill between his palms, turning it into fine dust, which he scattered over an Ice Drake’s body on which open wounds had started to appear from the poison.

"Hold steady!" he urged one of the younger drakes as he directed his Qi through its body, guiding the medicinal essence. "This will bolster your vitality for a moment longer!" His voice cracked from exhaustion, yet he did not stop.

Lin Mu’s eyes moved further, spotting Meng Bai crouched near a wounded drake.

The young man’s hands trembled as he carefully inserted formation flags into the ground. Sweat trickled down his brow despite the cold. The faint glow of the formation lines beneath his fingers revealed the beginnings of a large-scale healing array.

He bit his lip, determined not to falter.

"Good," Daoist Chu said between breaths. "Make the angles tight and let no gaps remain. Once activated, the healing resonance will amplify the monk’s chant."

Meng Bai nodded firmly. "Yes, Senior!"

He didn’t dare look up. Every motion was precise, every placement deliberate. The countless hours of practice was finally making him shine today.

In the background, Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang moved like silver and white streaks, their lithe forms darting from one Ice Drake to another.

The twin beasts pressed their jaws against the wounds and cracked scales of the poisoned drakes, drawing in the toxic essence with a hiss. A faint purple vapor emerged, which they then swallowed, digesting it effortlessly.

Their eyes glowed faintly with contentment, for the poison that harmed others was food to them. They had already saved ten of the weakest Ice Drakes, but still, too many lay dying.

When Lin Mu appeared, all eyes turned toward him. Relief flickered across Daoist Chu’s tired face. Cattaleya, standing nearby with her sword still sheathed but her aura ready, exhaled in quiet gratitude.

Lin Mu didn’t waste a single breath.

"What is the poison?" he asked, his tone sharp yet laced with concern.

Cattaleya stepped forward. "It is called Drakesbane," she said grimly. "A vile toxin designed to destroy Drake bloodlines. No matter the kind; Fire, Frost, or even Venom Drakes... it eats away at their lineage essence itself. I have seen immortal beast hunters use it before. It is rare and incredibly difficult to make. Only a handful of master poisoners can craft it in the Western Immortal Court’s territory."

Lin Mu’s expression hardened, his jaw tightening until his teeth ground together. "So that’s it," he muttered, his gaze flicking to the writhing Ice Drakes. "They didn’t just want to kill you. They wanted to erase your bloodline completely, leaving only the one’s they wished to enslave."
