Chapter 3254: Refining The Tar

Chapter 3254: Refining The Tar

Lin Mu’s eyes lingered on the twin serpents’ Dao Embryos floating in the air, their crystalline bodies radiating an aura that felt both ancient and sacred.

He had seen these Dao Embryos once before, but it had been through his immortal sense. Back then, the serpents had appeared faint, as though existing between reality and illusion, their forms flickering in and out of sight.

But now, standing before them, Lin Mu could finally see them clearly with his own two eyes.

The black serpent was smooth and glassy, its scales absorbing light instead of reflecting it, like the night sky swallowing the stars. The small white crystal in its mouth glimmered faintly, exuding an aura of pure Yin.

The white serpent, on the other hand, gleamed like carved moon jade, and the black crystal between its fangs pulsed faintly with Yang essence. The two crystalline serpent embryos coiled around each other in the air, as if alive, their movements slow and deliberate.

HUMMM~

A faint humming sound filled the area, the resonance of the Dao itself responding to their presence.

Lin Mu could sense the weight of the laws they embodied, and for a brief moment, he felt as though he were staring at the origin of all opposites.

This was the first time Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang had ever manifested their Dao Embryos so clearly. Even though they had possessed these embryos for a long time, they had never been in full control of them.

Their existence had always been more instinctual than deliberate, having been born due to their bloodlines. It was something they could feel but not touch, something that responded to their deepest emotions rather than conscious intent.

Even the Saintess, who had trained the twins for years and studied their every ability, had no idea what kind of Dao Embryos they possessed. The records of the Serpent Moon Sect contained no mention of serpents Dao Embryos, no description of Yin-Yang manifestations in such a tangible form.

The only thing they had was the seal that the Saintess had put on the twins. It was something meant to confirm the identity of the twins as it would only respond to them. She never knew that very symbol was the representation of their Dao Embryos.

It was as if the very concept of their Dao had eluded every record, hidden by time itself.

Lin Mu remembered asking Senior Xukong about it once, long ago.

The old spider had been thoughtful for a moment before admitting that even he had no idea what kind of Dao Embryos the twins carried. Xukong had known countless Dao Embryos, from Celestial-grade Embryos to long-forgotten Primordial ones, yet even he had been unable to name this one.

"Serpents that embody Yin and Yang directly?" Xukong had said, stroking his sharp spear like legs against his head in thought. "If such beings existed in the past, they must have been from an age before recorded Dao itself. Perhaps even before the various courts unified the Heavens."

Lin Mu remembered that conversation clearly.

He had always suspected the twins were unique, not just because of their personalities or unusual bond, but because their existence seemed to resonate with something beyond mortal or immortal understanding.

And now, as he watched the serpents slither gracefully through the air, he felt that his suspicions had been confirmed.

The serpents had been born again, and their awakening was nothing short of miraculous.

The two Dao Embryos circled each other slowly before descending toward the viscous liquid the twins had refined earlier. The black serpent dipped its head into the tar first, followed closely by the white serpent. As they entered the mass, a ripple spread through it, and the liquid began to stir.

The serpents coiled together within, their bodies twisting and weaving around each other until they formed a familiar pattern: a Taiji Symbol, but composed of living, breathing serpents instead of static color.

One half was black, the other white, and together they rotated in perfect harmony, feeding each other endlessly. The balance between them was flawless, neither side overtaking the other, and from that balance radiated a profound calm that blanketed the cavern.

Everyone who watched was struck speechless.

The Elder Ice Drake’s massive eyes reflected the spinning serpents, his breath held as he felt the pull of two primal forces that dwarfed even his ancient heritage.

Daoist Chu felt a chill down his spine, sensing that what he was witnessing transcended mortal comprehension.

Even Little Shrubby, who had never been interested in such abstract concepts, tilted his head and stared, sensing the raw, natural power that reminded him of the very beginning of creation.

As the serpents continued to spin, the liquid around them began to change.

The faint gray tone deepened into a rich black, and the once-thin fluid thickened rapidly. With every rotation, impurities within it were burned away, leaving behind a dense, sticky tar that gleamed faintly with baleful light.

The temperature in the area dropped, but the air grew heavier.

Lin Mu watched carefully, sensing the transformation through his Immortal sense as well as his Spatial perception.

The balance of Yin and Yang was perfect, the cycle of life and death maintained without collapse. The serpents were refining the tar on a fundamental level, their Dao stripping away anything unnecessary until only the right mix of the essences of corruption remained.

And then, with a final hiss, the rotation slowed.

The serpents froze for a brief moment, before separating and rising back into the air. The refined liquid below them now pulsed faintly, thick and pitch black, the very image of the Baleful Corpse Tar Lin Mu had seen on the original torch.

The twins had succeeded.

A collective sigh of relief spread through the group, though none dared to speak too loudly in the presence of such power.

The serpents coiled in the air one last time before descending toward Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang. As they touched the twins’ foreheads, their forms dissolved into a soft glow that sank into their bodies.
