Chapter 3265: Finding The Weakness Of The Ancestor
Soon, the blade transformed into a massive, jagged bolt, its tip hooked and serrated, meant to tear through flesh and bone alike.
"Elephant Shredding Bolt!" Lin Mu roared, releasing the string.
TWANG!!!
The world shook.
The amplified power of Wonder Seeker combined with the fiery energy of Magma Asura and the refined Sword Intent infused within Afternoon Pine. The result was a devastating, multi-layered attack that even the heavens trembled before.
WHOOSH!
The three meter long bolt flew like a crimson dragon tearing through the firmament. Its speed was so great that the Ancestor’s enhanced senses could not even register it properly. By the time he saw the streak of light, it was already upon him.
SPLAT!
The bolt pierced straight through his torso, the impact creating a deafening shockwave.
A massive hole half a meter wide appeared in the Ancestor’s chest, blood and ichor spraying outward in a grotesque burst. His body was barely held together by a thin layer of flesh and shredded sinew around his waist.
Inside the wound, his corrupted organs could be seen, burned black, their texture bubbling as magma energy continued to devour them from within.
"ARGH!!!" The Ancestor let out a horrid scream, a sound of agony and rage that shook the air.
He had never felt such pain before, not even during his transformation into an Ephemerach Hollow.
His form flickered, the Baleful Energy that sustained him destabilizing as the fiery power of Lin Mu’s attack continued to burn him from the inside out. The sky itself seemed to recoil from the energy unleashed between them, as though the heavens feared the clash of two existences that had long surpassed mortal bounds.
Lin Mu lowered his bow slowly, his expression cold and focused. His crimson-gold aura flared around him, like a phoenix wreathed in molten flame. The momentary silence that followed the attack was almost deafening.
He knew the fight was far from over.
The Ancestor was powerful, and something like this alone would not kill him.
But Lin Mu could see the panic flashing through the Hollow’s many eyes. The wound had disrupted his regeneration, and the searing energy of the Magma Asura combined with his Sword Intent was preventing the Baleful Qi from mending it.
Lin Mu narrowed his eyes and whispered under his breath.
"This is just the beginning."
Witnessing the injury that the Ancestor had suffered and noticing that it was not healing as fast as before, Lin Mu knew his guess had been correct.
The Ancestor was a hybrid between a human and an Ephemerach. And while he did possess great regeneration because of this hybrid nature, it was still not on the same level as a pure Ephemerach. While this protected him from the usual weaknesses of an Ephemerach, it also meant that his regeneration rate was significantly lower.
Simply speaking, his abilities were an average of both.
Thus, Lin Mu reckoned that the way to defeat him was to first restrain his regeneration, then deal a major, decisive blow.
WHOOSH!
Lin Mu did not miss a single change in the enemy’s movement. Activating Cloud Dragon Stride, Lin Mu left a trail of swirling mist and vapor as he circled the Ancestor, his figure vanishing and reappearing like a ghost in the clouds.
"Damn you, brat! I’ll kill you! I’LL KILL YOU!" the Ancestor roared, his voice warped with hatred.
The intact parts of his body began to twist and elongate, transforming into strange, tubular protrusions that looked like the proboscises of monstrous mosquitoes.
SHUA! SHUA! SHUA!
From these tubes, he shot bursts of concentrated Baleful Qi that tore through the air, each one capable of shredding flesh or even penetrating meter-thick steel. It was like superheated steam cutting through solid rock, each blast leaving deep scars in the earth below.
But Lin Mu was already prepared for such an attack. The clouds he had created with Cloud Dragon Stride were not ordinary clouds.
They were infused with Cloud Dao Traces that could distort and obscure Immortal Sense, making it impossible for the Ancestor to lock onto Lin Mu’s exact position.
And just as the Ancestor was about to unleash another flurry of Baleful blasts, Lin Mu burst through the mist, appearing suddenly at the man’s flank.
"Got you!" the Ancestor bellowed, all of his eyes swiveling toward Lin Mu.
His two arms merged into a single, grotesque appendage that looked more like a living cannon. Baleful Energy surged into it, condensing rapidly into a volatile mass that trembled with destructive potential.
But there was no way Lin Mu was going to let that attack form.
With a burst of speed from Cloud Dragon Stride, Lin Mu propelled himself forward, closing the distance in the blink of an eye. Even without using Blink, his movement speed was terrifyingly fast, almost instantaneous.
Seeing Lin Mu charge toward him, the Ancestor roared, his face shifting once more. His entire head transformed into that of a massive stag beetle, its horn resembling a jagged halberd gleaming with black light.
The moment Lin Mu was within a meter of him, the Ancestor struck.
"You’re dead!" he howled, bringing the halberd-like horn down with full force. The shaft of the horn slammed into the glowing blue sword in Lin Mu’s hand, while the sharpened edge was aimed directly at Lin Mu’s neck.
To any observer, it would have seemed as though Lin Mu had met his end.
CLANG!!!
But much to the Ancestor’s astonishment, the expected result never came.
The horn simply passed through Lin Mu’s sword as if it were air, and when the tip met Lin Mu’s neck, it failed to pierce his flesh. Instead, it left only a faint white mark, barely visible, before the immense force dispersed harmlessly.
"What is this body?" the Ancestor gasped in disbelief.
The surprises Lin Mu was about to show the man were far from over.
Since Lin Mu had rarely taken direct blows from others, no one truly understood how tough his body was... or that he even possessed a special physique. That hidden fact had remained Lin Mu’s greatest secret, his trump card for when the moment of life and death truly arrived.
And now, that moment had come.
