Chapter 3361: A Conflict And Goblins’ Respect

Chapter 3361: A Conflict And Goblins’ Respect

Yet instead of backing down, anger twisted the expressions of the young masters.

Yong Heng snarled, "Who are you to interfere with us? And for goblins of all things?"

Qing Kuanshu spat on the ground. "Move aside. These creatures are pests. We are doing everyone a favor by chasing them off."

Lin Mu let out a quiet breath. "Behave. The sins of their ancestors are not theirs to bear."

The goblins blinked.

They looked at Lin Mu with stunned expressions, as if they were not sure they had heard correctly. It was the first time in their entire lives that a human had spoken on their behalf in public.

But the young masters were far from placated.

Qing Kuanshu straightened his spine and puffed out his chest, attempting dignity despite the aura pressing on him.

"Remember our names then. I am Qing Kuanshu, son of Captain Qing, commander of the Outpost’s Third Guard Division."

Yong Heng smirked through clenched teeth. "And I am Yong Heng, son of Captain Heng, commander of the Seventh. You should know your place before you step into matters beyond your status."

Lin Mu stared at them for a long moment.

His face remained completely expressionless.

"Was I meant to know these names?" he asked calmly.

The tavern erupted in tiny gasps.

Several people whispered quickly.

"Captain Heng’s son?"

"And Captain Qing’s heir?"

"That explains their arrogance. No wonder they act like they own the world."

Lin Mu glanced at the goblins again.

Their cultivation bases were unreadable. Their bodies were too different, their Qi signatures too unfamiliar. But what he could sense was that they were not weak. Their presence was not that of mortals or simple rogue creatures. They had discipline. They had control.

He could see they could easily overpower these two young masters if pushed. But doing so here, in an Immortal Court outpost, would cause nothing but disaster. The outpost guards would descend, the captains would retaliate, and the goblins would probably be executed on sight.

So Lin Mu stepped forward.

"I will say this one more time," he said quietly. "Leave. Now."

Yong Heng shoved forward and jabbed a finger against Lin Mu’s chest.

"Try us," he hissed.

Qing Kuanshu joined him, nudging Lin Mu with his shoulder. "Let us see what you can do then. Protecting goblins? You are insane."

Lin Mu did not raise a hand.

He did not even shift his feet.

He simply released another pulse of his aura.

This one was heavier.

Darker.

Sharper.

Forged from the weight of tens of millions of beings he had slain on battlefields and ancient ruins, from the storms he had endured, from the tribulations he had survived.

The tavern trembled.

Glasses shattered.

Tables shook.

And the two young masters collapsed to their knees as if mountains had been placed on their shoulders. Their minions slammed face first into the ground, barely conscious. Their teeth rattled in their skulls. Their eyes bulged.

Even the goblins flinched, although the aura did not target them.

Everyone in the tavern felt their hearts tremble.

Lin Mu looked down at the kneeling young masters, his eyes calm and cold as winter stone.

"I said leave," he repeated. "Do not make me repeat myself again."

The tavern was silent.

Utterly, perfectly silent.

And all the goblins, for the first time in their lives, felt something strange in their chests.

Respect.

And shock.

And perhaps, beneath it all, a small flicker of gratitude.

The young masters glared at Lin Mu with bloodshot eyes and trembling jaws. Even kneeling, they tried to maintain some pathetic semblance of pride. Yong Heng spat weakly to the side.

"You... will pay for this. My father will hear of this insult. You just wait."

Lin Mu’s expression did not shift at all. He simply stared down at them. Calm. Cold. Unyielding. The weight of his gaze alone was enough to make Yong Heng’s throat tighten.

Qing Kuanshu tried his best to snarl, but it came out more like the squeak of a strangled rat. "You think you can threaten us? You will regret this soon. We swear it."

Lin Mu said nothing.

He did not need to.

His aura spoke for him. And that alone made the group flinch and scramble backward. They did not walk away with dignity. They crawled at first, then staggered to their feet, then ran. Their minions dragged themselves behind them, shaking like wet dogs.

The goblins watched them go, their yellow eyes wide with disbelief.

Once the young masters were fully gone, the goblins turned toward Lin Mu. They gathered together in a small cluster, grunting and chattering among themselves rapidly in their guttural tongue. Then the leader stepped forward.

"Gruah- ka sha... thaua..."

He tried to speak a few words, but the sound was unintelligible to Lin Mu. The goblins’ vocal cords were simply built differently. Their throat structure allowed them to produce clicks, growls, and vibrating sounds that no human tongue could replicate.

Seeing Lin Mu’s confusion, the leader quickly reached for something inside his belt pouch and pulled out a thin jade slip. He infused it with a wisp of Qi. Runes blossomed in the air like shimmering green smoke.

The runes formed a simple projection of text in the air above their heads.

"We thank you," the runes said. "The Spirit of Ukula will remember your deed."

Lin Mu blinked. "The Spirit of what?"

The goblins grunted again. The leader thumped his chest with pride. Whatever or whoever Ukula was, it was clearly important to them. Lin Mu decided it was not worth questioning further at the moment.

The goblins bowed. Or at least, what Lin Mu assumed was a bow. They curled their claws inward, raised their arms, and contorted their backs in a strange gesture that looked somewhere between a salute and a warning posture.

Lin Mu nodded politely.

A moment later, the goblins pulled out tattered brown cloaks from their storage treasures. The cloaks looked ordinary at first glance, but as soon as the goblins swung them over their shoulders, their bodies shimmered.

HUALA

One by one, they vanished.

Not stealthily. Entirely.
