Chapter 3368: A Respected Grand Master

Chapter 3368: A Respected Grand Master

Several guards fell to their knees instinctively.

Elder Dong Bo was not finished. In fact, he was only warming up.

He continued. "Not only that. The Guardian Temple sent a direct missive from Head Elder Du Xingyi himself. Do you fools realize what that means? The Guardian Temple’s elders rarely communicate outside their duties. Yet they confirmed that Lin Mu carries their recognition and protection."

The captains’ legs shook and finally gave out and they collapsed onto their knees like sacks of grain.

Several criminals whispered in awe and fear.

"A Grand Uncle Master? Someone at such a level must be ancient."

"He looks so young though."

"Perhaps he maintained his youth. Or he has a very high cultivation."

"It explains how he survived the poison."

The captains tried to speak, but their voices were strangled. "Elder... Elder Dong Bo... we did not know. We swear we did not know."

"That ignorance is the crime!" the elder thundered. "You stand before someone at least five ranks above even my own seniority. Your entire lineages have committed treason against court-protected status."

The two young masters cried out and grabbed their fathers’ sleeves. "Father, save us. We did not know!"

The captains tried to plead. "Elder Dong Bo, we beg forgiveness. We will accept punishment."

Elder Dong Bo’s anger only grew. "Punishment? You dare speak of punishment as if this matter is so light? You all endangered a Grand Uncle Master of a High Elder. The Guardian Temple has already issued warnings. Had he been injured the slightest, this outpost would have been razed for failing its duty."

The entire jail trembled.

Lin Mu watched them with calm eyes, neither angry nor smug.

Elder Dong Bo then turned toward Lin Mu, and the shift in his demeanor was instant. His fierce expression softened into reverent humility.

He stepped forward, clasped his hands, and bowed deeply. "Honored Grand Master Lin Mu, this unworthy elder begs your forgiveness for the grave offense committed by my subordinates.

I take full responsibility for failing to uphold proper discipline within my outpost. I will ensure those involved never see the light of day again. Their clans will be thoroughly investigated and purged of corruption."

The criminals’ jaws dropped.

Even the White Tiger Immortal Guards looked impressed.

Lin Mu nodded once. "I am not particularly bothered. But I will not tolerate continued corruption under the righteous banner of the Immortal Court."

His voice was calm, but the words felt like a decree.

Elder Dong Bo bowed again. "As you command."

Lin Mu then raised his bound wrists. The Qi restraining shackles glowed faintly.

Elder Dong Bo rushed forward. "Allow me to release—"

Lin Mu gently waved his hand.

Space itself shifted. The air rippled like water. The sealing array that held the shackles together fractured and shattered into motes of light. The restraints fell apart instantly.

Elder Dong Bo stared, stunned, the White Tiger Immortal Guards stiffened in awe and the captains’ eyes widened in terror.

One prisoner whispered loudly enough for several to hear, "Spatial Cultivator."

Another murmured, "He could have walked out of here any time he wanted."

A third prisoner muttered, "We are lucky he stayed. If he was the vengeful type, this jail would be mere dust."

At this moment, both captains truly understood the depth of their mistake.

Not only was Lin Mu a body cultivator, but he was also a spatial cultivator. Shackles could not bind him. Poison could not harm him. No chains could hold him. If he had wished, he could have vanished the moment they arrested him.

One captain whispered with despair, "We... we imprisoned someone who could have torn open the cell and left anytime."

The other captain whispered back, "We were beating a dragon dressed in human skin."

Elder Dong Bo stepped between them and Lin Mu and glared at the captains.

"Take them away. Immediately. I want every member of these two clans under arrest by sunset. Confiscate everything. Seal their mansions. Their crimes have only begun."

The White Tiger Immortal Guards surged forward to obey.

The captains screamed. The young masters sobbed. But not a single soul pitied them.

As they were dragged away, Elder Dong Bo turned once more to Lin Mu, bowed again, and said, "Honored Grand Master, please allow me to escort you personally. There are matters we must discuss."

And the entire jail watched with wide eyes as Lin Mu stepped out of the cell he had always been able to walk out of.

Lin Mu stepped out of the jailhouse with Elder Dong Bo’s personal escort flanking him from both sides. They saluted him before dispersing, and the moment the last armored figure vanished from sight, Daoist Chu stepped forward with an expectant look.

"Welcome back," Daoist Chu said. "How was your stay?"

Lin Mu stretched his neck slightly. "Decent. Comfortable enough. I even managed to grow my cultivation a bit, courtesy of the captains."

Daoist Chu nodded as if Lin Mu had just mentioned taking a walk. "Good. A productive use of time."

Meng Bai blinked several times. "Are you serious? You were in jail for a week."

Lin Mu shrugged lightly. "Poison from high ranking officers is still poison. It was rich in Wood elemental energy. I made use of it."

Cattaleya let out a loud laugh and slapped his back. "I knew you would be fine. They could not hurt you even if they tried."

Little Shrubby, in the form of the sleek feline, launched himself into Lin Mu’s arms and pushed his head into Lin Mu’s chest while mewing loudly with an unmistakable tone of indignation.

If anyone else heard it, they only heard a cute series of meows.Lin Mu, however, understood perfectly.

Little Shrubby complained with vigor. He was ready to burn the entire outpost to ashes. He had already picked out which buildings to start with.He had even chosen the order in which he would chase the young masters around like terrified mice.

Lin Mu chuckled and stroked the beast’s head. "Yes, yes. I know. You could have cooked the captains and their sons like meat skewers if you wanted."

Cattaleya raised an eyebrow. "He said all of that?"

Lin Mu nodded. "More or less."
