She touched the tip of the spear with one finger.

She did not leap. Instead, she grounded herself just enough that her body sank half an inch, then lifted her arm and sliced downward with the edge of her hand.

A sharp crack rang out.

His spear was deflected yet again.

The crowd gasped. Some stood on their feet. Others covered their mouths. Daoist Chu whistled low. Cattaleya grinned like a wolf.

Meng Bai grit his teeth.

He needed to push more.

He spun, sweeping his spear horizontally with tremendous force. The ground cracked slightly where his feet dug in. The sweeping attack rattled the platform and disrupted the flow of Qi around him.

Dongxu Ning slid away from the force, her palm pressing lightly against the floor as her jade bone energy absorbed the vibrations. Her stance did not break.

Her own attack came with a sudden burst of speed. She appeared right beside Meng Bai, her jade tinted palm slicing at his neck.

Meng Bai barely reacted in time.

He thrust the spear between them vertically, using the haft as a shield. Her palm slammed into it, sending a heavy force through his arms, almost making him lose grip.

He staggered.

Dongxu Ning closed in like a graceful predator.

Meng Bai recovered by instantly transitioning into Shadow Fang. His spear disappeared for an instant, hiding behind his shoulder as his body feinted backward, only to suddenly thrust toward her stomach with a lightning fast stab.

Her barrier thickened at that moment, turning his direct strike into a slowed push. She caught the spear tip between two fingers once more.

The arena roared in awe.

The crowd gasped as the final thrust grazed Dongxu Ning’s shoulder. She stepped back, eyes narrowing slightly.

Her barrier had thinned for a moment.

He countered with Piercing Fang again, but her claws deflected it instantly.

Another flurry came.

Meng Bai’s arms shook as he fought to keep up. He moved like a storm, his spear weaving defense and offense together. But Dongxu Ning moved like a clear stream, guiding his every strike away from her body.
