Chapter 3407: Two More Months Of Tournaments

Chapter 3407: Two More Months Of Tournaments

This tournament brought the most excitement since the Iron Hide Sect prided itself on producing tough body cultivators.

People wanted to see if she could defeat body cultivators closer to her own path. She had crushed everyone so far, but the later matches were expected to be more thrilling. Though there were already rumors about a couple of contestants debating about quitting.

The fourth and fifth tournaments were both in their semi finals, and most of the world’s gossip circles already claimed that she would take the championship titles for all of them. They only debated whether she would do it with flicks alone or if she would finally have to use an actual punch.

Two more months and she would finish every tournament she entered.

Her name had become a phenomenon that spread far beyond the world. Merchants traveling to other worlds carried stories of the One Flick Woman. Some exaggerated to the point of claiming she could flick a mountain in half.

Lin Mu only sighed whenever he heard such stories. Cattaleya herself did not even deny it. She only smirked and said she could flick harder if she had enough immortal snacks.

Things became even more interesting as bets for the Great Martial Fist King Tournament began to appear. This was the main event, the once in a century gathering that drew elites from all over the Eastern Immortal Court territories.

The stakes were high and the rewards were prestigious.

Many acknowledged Cattaleya as a rising challenger, but this time the bookkeepers were careful. The tournament would feature several seventh tribulation stage immortals, many of them long time veterans. There were monstrous body cultivators who had spent millenia perfecting their arts.

No matter how overwhelming Cattaleya appeared now, it was reckless to assume she could outright win the great tournament.

Still, the bettors showed confidence in her. The most common bets placed her within the top five. Some said she would secure top three if the matchups favored her. A few gamblers placed bold wagers on her winning the entire event, but the payout odds were enormous, nearly forty to one.

Even Cattaleya laughed when she heard about it. "Forty to one. Maybe I should bet on myself this time."

Lin Mu only told her not to jinx herself. After all, he was taking part too.

While Cattaleya conquered the physical tournaments, Daoist Chu enjoyed a quieter form of prestige.

His own Xiangqi Tournament had begun to enter its later rounds.

Although it was overshadowed by the body cultivation events, the Xiangqi Tournament was a cherished pastime for elders from many worlds. They took great pride in their strategies and rivalries. The tournament was slow paced, but its atmosphere was dignified.

Daoist Chu had already cleared several rounds over the two months. He was close to reaching the semifinals.

Lin Mu supported him and attended nearly every match.

He sat quietly among robed elders who sipped tea and debated strategies in whispers. Elyon often accompanied him since he enjoyed quiet observation, but Meng Bai and Cattaleya rarely lasted more than a few minutes before slipping away in boredom.

Meng Bai once lasted five minutes and declared it torture.

Cattaleya managed seven minutes but only because she fell asleep with her eyes open.

Lin Mu, however, found it a good use of time. He learned about the internal politics of the Eastern Immortal Court from the elders. He heard rumors about the Great Martial Fist King Sect and their good relationship with the Eastern Court.

He also learned about several smaller sects that existed near the other worlds near the Runweld Barren World.

In those tea filled halls, Lin Mu quietly built a map of connections, power structures, and possible dangers that would be useful when he eventually headed toward the dwarven region.

Time passed in those gentle rhythms, alternating between Cattaleya’s explosive fights and Daoist Chu’s patient matches.

Another month soon passed.

Cattaleya won four out of the five tournaments she had entered and now rested on the throne of champions in four different tournaments. The final tournament remained, scheduled for the following month.

It was the second largest after the Great Martial Fist King Tournament and was hosted by the Silver Palm Kingdom. She was already a favorite to win that one too.

Daoist Chu reached the semifinals of his Xiangqi Tournament.

His victories were not as dramatic as Cattaleya’s flick based domination, but he earned the respect of the elders. He had played against ancient immortals who had lived for tens of thousands of years and still managed to surprise them with his strategies.

Lin Mu, Elyon, and Meng Bai attended the semifinal announcement with Daoist Chu. Several elders personally congratulated him, remarking that his mental discipline and patience were admirable.

Daoist Chu nodded humbly, though Lin Mu could see the small glimmer of pride in his eyes.

The world outside these tournaments had grown even more excited. Cities prepared for the influx of spectators who would arrive months in advance for the Great Martial Fist King Tournament.

Inns were already filling up. Merchants were raising prices. Countless roadside arenas started holding their own unofficial matches to earn extra income.

The entire Martial Fist King World felt like it was entering a festival season.

Through all this, Lin Mu remained calm, steadily cultivating and searching for new resources to help his cores. He guided Meng Bai in using the new Dao Skill. He helped Cattaleya refine her control so that she did not accidentally send half the stadium flying.

Their life was peaceful and lively, and even Lin Mu could feel a rare sense of enjoyment.

The quiet before a storm.

The warm up before the true battle.

Two more months and they would head toward the Dongxu Clan’s territory, then onward to the Great Martial Fist King Tournament.

For now, all they had to do was wait for Cattaleya to win her last preliminary tournament.

And given her current record, no one in the world doubted that she would.
