Chapter 3411: Why Was Lin Mu Ignored?

Chapter 3411: Why Was Lin Mu Ignored?

Meng Bai, Cattaleya and Elyon watched quietly, even the mischievous glint leaving Cattaleya’s eyes for a moment as the atmosphere shifted.

But the most surprising thing was how long it took.

Lin Mu expected a few breaths.

Instead, it took him nearly two full minutes of continuous chanting. Daoist Chu’s mind was apparently so polluted by Mistress Tender Flower’s shameless flirting that Lin Mu had to cut through layer after layer of lingering mental filth.

In Lin Mu’s mind, Xukong finally spoke.

"That woman," the Old Spider muttered with disbelief, "might actually have the ability to generate heart demons through flirting alone. I have never seen something so potent or so tragic."

Lin Mu nearly faltered in his chant. "Senior, even you are disturbed?"

"I am not disturbed," Xukong said. "I am impressed. And afraid. Mostly afraid. Keep chanting."

Lin Mu felt a genuine shiver crawl up his spine. He never would have thought Mistress Tender Flower would haunt even someone like Xukong.

What he didn’t know was that even Lin Mo was intimidated and kept his mouth shut.

At last, Daoist Chu’s body relaxed and his breath steadied. Lin Mu completed the sutra and stepped back.

Daoist Chu opened his eyes once, slowly.

Then he immediately fell asleep, finally freed from torment.

The room fell quiet.

Cattaleya exhaled. "That was... honestly terrifying. I thought she was just a creepy old woman but this... this is spiritual warfare."

Elyon nodded slowly. "I am officially afraid of flirting elders now. I did not know that level existed."

Meng Bai looked thoughtful. Then his expression brightened as if he had solved some grand mystery.

"Wait," Meng Bai said suddenly. "Mistress Tender Flower likes handsome men, right?"

Everyone paused and looked at him.

Meng Bai continued innocently, "Then why did she go after Daoist Chu... but not Master Lin Mu? Master is obviously more handsome."

The room froze.

Lin Mu blinked twice. His stomach twisted slightly. "Why would you say that now?"

Elyon frowned. "Actually... that is a good point."

Cattaleya tapped her chin. "This is true. She was practically drooling over Daoist Chu. But she did not even look twice at Lin Mu. That is very strange."

Lin Mu inhaled sharply. "Do not jinx me. What if she realizes she missed me? Do you want her chasing me next?"

Meng Bai shook his head. "I do not think she can resist anyone handsome. She would have gone for you if she saw you clearly."

Lin Mu felt a cold wave wash over him.

He regretted everything.

Elyon added thoughtfully, "It is strange indeed. There is no way she simply overlooked him."

Cattaleya nodded in agreement. "If she had noticed Lin Mu, she would have climbed over the Xiangqi board."

Lin Mu felt faint.

Meanwhile, far away, in the cloudy heights of the Martial Fist King World, the Saintess sat atop her cushion of clouds with a serene expression.

Her delicate fingers rested on a viewing mirror shaped from condensed Air Dao Traces. Scenes of the match played faintly within it.

She had seen Mistress Tender Flower approaching Lin Mu earlier.

Her expression had darkened instantly.

With a casual wave of her hand, the winds shifted around Lin Mu. Not physically, but perceptually. The air bent light, bent aura, bent subtle threads of presence.

To Mistress Tender Flower’s eyes, Lin Mu instantly became a painfully average looking cultivator with no charm, no magnetism, nothing that would stir even the faintest of her appetites.

The Saintess had lifted her chin then, expression calm but carrying a quiet pride.

"Lin Mu faces enough trouble as he is," she murmured. "I will not allow him to be eaten by a troll."

Back in the inn, Lin Mu sat down, rubbing his temples.

"I suppose I was fortunate," he said finally.

Cattaleya leaned forward and smirked. "Yes. Very fortunate. Do you think she might notice you later?"

Lin Mu glared at her. "Stop."

Meng Bai added thoughtfully, "Maybe she was tired. Or distracted. Or maybe your aura was too strong."

Lin Mu shook his head. "Let us never speak of this again."

Elyon nodded with solemn understanding. "Agreed."

Daoist Chu snored softly from the bed.

Cattaleya cracked a grin. "He is going to have nightmares for weeks."

Lin Mu sighed.

And high up in the sky, the Saintess smiled faintly to herself.

As long as she watched Lin Mu, no shameless old harpy would lay a finger on him.

The rest of the day passed without further horrors for Daoist Chu, though he occasionally twitched in his sleep as if hearing someone whispering sweet nothings in a nightmare.

Whenever that happened, Meng Bai would gently throw a blanket over his head to protect him from imaginary threats, and Cattaleya would cackle in the background. Elyon simply lit incense sticks to purify the air, muttering that even lingering memory of Mistress Tender Flower felt like spiritual contamination.

Daoist Chu slept through most of the first day. And the second. And the third.

During these three days he alternated between unconscious rest and restless dreams. Sometimes he whimpered softly. Sometimes he jerked upright before collapsing again.

Once he even shouted the words, "No, Mistress Tender Flower, I cannot show you my Heavenly Dragon!" before Lin Mu placed a calming talisman on his forehead.

But by the start of the fourth day, Daoist Chu finally emerged from his room. His eyes were clearer, his posture was normal again, and he no longer trembled each time someone said the word flower.

In fact, he was oddly composed.

Lin Mu, Meng Bai, Elyon and Cattaleya watched him carefully as he poured himself a cup of tea in the common room of the inn.

Lin Mu asked gently, "Daoist Chu, how do you feel now?"

Daoist Chu took a sip of tea. "Much better. Thank you all for helping me. Truly."

Cattaleya narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "Do you remember what happened?"

Daoist Chu thought for a moment, his brows furrowing in a mix of confusion and anxiety.
