Chapter 3415: A Pleasant Clan
One excited young disciple asked Cattaleya, "Senior Cattaleya, can you flick something for us right now?"
She grinned. "Sure. Bring me something durable."
Someone ran out and returned with a solid jade block the size of a wagon wheel.
Cattaleya flicked it lightly.
The jade block shot through three walls before someone in the distance shouted, "It hit the courtyard statue!"
Everyone in the hall froze.
Then the Patriarch broke into a hearty laugh. "Wonderful! That statue was old anyway. This is a memorable day."
Daoist Chu whispered, "I feel bad for your sculptors."
The Patriarch laughed harder. "Let them earn their keep. Repairs are part of their training."
Lin Mu watched all of this with amusement. The Dongxu Clan was far more relaxed and lively than he had imagined. For a clan with so much wealth and authority, they felt oddly warm.
As the feast continued, the conversation turned toward cultivation, jade refinement, the upcoming Great Fist King Martial Tournament, and rumors circling around the realm.
The Patriarch’s wives asked Lin Mu many polite questions about his travels. The children listened in admiration when Lin Mu casually mentioned he had fought Cursed creatures or traveled through collapsed realms.
But it was the elders seated nearby who listened most intently. They could sense Lin Mu’s aura was not ordinary and were curious about this independent expert who traveled with equally fearsome companions.
Eventually the feast slowed down and dessert was served. Plates of crystallized jade fruit, luminescent spirit honey, and green tea infused with jade essence filled the tables.
Lin Mu sampled a piece of the fruit and found it tasted surprisingly crisp and refreshing.
The Patriarch smiled. "We grow that ourselves. Jade energy infused orchards. Only a few clans can cultivate fruit like this."
Meng Bai’s eyes sparkled as he tasted one. "This is amazing. The richness of Earth Qi is very calming."
Little Shrubby devoured entire plates of desserts.
Cattaleya competed with Lin Mu to see who could eat more sweets.
Daoist Chu pretended not to notice.
Elyon simply drank tea in silence, his tail swaying peacefully.
The warm atmosphere spread throughout the hall. Even Lin Mu felt strangely at ease in this jade filled palace. The Dongxu Clan had welcomed them with sincerity, and that made all the difference.
Over the next two weeks, Lin Mu and his group gradually settled into the rhythm of life within the Dongxu Clan. It felt almost like a vacation, albeit a vacation filled with cultivation, training, study, exploration, and far more social interaction than any of them expected.
Since the Great Martial Fist King Tournament would not begin for another two weeks, there was no rush. The Patriarch had already stated that they would set out together five days prior, so the group had at least a week of free time to enjoy the clan grounds, learn, and mingle.
Lin Mu, as always, did not waste the opportunity.
Each morning he headed straight to the clan’s formation complexes, pulling Meng Bai with him and Daoist Chu trailing behind. Meng Bai was enthusiastic about learning but not nearly as enthusiastic as Daoist Chu who practically dragged Lin Mu from one array to the next like a starving scholar shown an endless library.
Lin Mu patiently walked them through layered formations embedded in the soil, jade pillars that acted as amplifiers of Earth Dao, and unusual circular constructs that created spiraling flows of immortal Qi. These were highly specialized formations meant to channel Jade Dao Traces, something even Lin Mu rarely encountered before coming to the Dongxu clan.
Meng Bai tried his best to memorize everything, even though half the time his face scrunched up as if he had eaten something sour.
Daoist Chu, on the other hand, was ecstatic.
He scribbled notes nonstop and even asked permission to copy some diagrams from the clan’s archives. The Dongxu elders were more than happy to give that permission. If anything, they looked honored that a core disciple of the Zenith Dao Sect found their formations worth studying.
Meanwhile, Cattaleya was engaged in a very different form of activity.
The first two days, she spent dealing with a literal army of admirers. News that the One Flick Woman was staying in their clan had spread through Dongxu City like wildfire. Clan disciples lined up for autographs, training advice, a handshake, or simply to marvel at her muscles. Sculptors even asked her to pose so they could carve jade statues of her in dramatic poses.
Cattaleya enjoyed it immensely even though she didn’t like her title at first.
After the initial wave of excitement settled, she began holding training sessions for the clan’s battle focused disciples.
The Patriarch had encouraged this wholeheartedly. The Dongxu clan specialized in defensive arts and body fortification. Having a powerhouse like Cattaleya teach them how to withstand force, brace their bodies, and channel strength correctly was equivalent to handing them a priceless treasure.
Her training quickly gained a reputation.
By the third day, disciples whispered about the lessons of Master Cattaleya. Some boasted proudly that they had been punched through walls or tossed into ponds during her demonstrations.
Many ran to class excitedly even while clutching fresh bandages. Cattaleya felt satisfied knowing she was contributing and even more satisfied when the Patriarch offered payment for her efforts.
She took it happily, of course.
Elyon, in contrast, found peace in the clan libraries. The Dongxu clan traded jade across countless worlds and had informants, partners, and records spanning the Eastern Immortal Court. Their libraries were overflowing with scrolls describing world politics, clan histories, mineral economies, notable individuals, and secrets of trade routes.
Elyon sat among these scrolls day after day, scanning everything with meticulous focus. He occasionally flicked his ears or swished his tail in amusement whenever he found particularly obscure or useful information. The librarians grew extremely fond of him and gave him unrestricted access to most of their archives.
Little Shrubby and the twins spent their days very differently and worried Lin Mu to no end.
