Chapter 3468: Departing The Martial Fist King World
If there was one person who refused to let Meng Bai sink entirely into obsession, it was Dongxu Ning.
The moment she learned what had happened, she had been inconsolable. She blamed herself for leaving him alone, for being dragged away by trivial conversation, for not sensing danger.
It had taken Lin Mu, Cattaleya, and even Daoist Chu to convince her that she was not responsible.
Even so, she visited Meng Bai every day.
Sometimes she brought food. Sometimes she dragged him out of his room. Sometimes she simply sat beside him while he studied.
More often than not, she sparred with him.
"Stop thinking so much and fight," she would say, stepping into the training field with a wooden spear. "If you want to be strong, your body needs to understand what it means to live."
Meng Bai never refused.
Their sparring sessions were intense. She did not hold back too much, and he refused to be coddled. Bruises became common. So did laughter.
Slowly, the darkness in Meng Bai’s eyes eased.
He began to speak more. To smile again. To admit his fears out loud instead of burying them under books and arrays.
"You are not just a weakness," Dongxu Ning told him one evening as they sat under a tree, both exhausted. "You are also his strength. He chose you. That means something."
Meng Bai stared at the ground. "Then I need to become worthy of that choice."
Dongxu Ning nodded. "Then become strong. But do not destroy yourself trying."
Her presence became an anchor.
The day of departure arrived quietly.
No public announcements. No ceremonies. No crowds.
The Martial Fist King Sect had prepared a private teleportation array within a sealed chamber beneath Great Fist City. Only a handful of people were allowed to know.
Lin Mu stood with his companions as the array began to glow.
Cattaleya leaned against a pillar, arms crossed, her expression uncharacteristically quiet.
Elyon stood like a shadow near the wall, senses stretched across layers of space.
Daoist Chu checked the final parameters of the teleportation array with the sect masters, ensuring the coordinates were secure.
Little Shrubby sat nearby, his fur rustling with quiet anticipation.
Meng Bai stood slightly apart, his gaze fixed on the glowing runes.
He felt a strange mix of excitement and dread.
Footsteps approached.
Dongxu Ning and her father entered the chamber, accompanied by Patriarch Xiong Tian.
The Patriarch’s presence filled the room, but he did not exert his aura. He simply nodded at Lin Mu.
"You have stirred the waters of many worlds," he said. "But the path of a cultivator is to walk forward regardless. Do not let this deter you."
Lin Mu bowed slightly. "I will not."
Xiong Tian looked at Meng Bai for a moment, then at Dongxu Ning.
"Young people," he muttered, then turned away.
Dongxu Ning stepped forward, her eyes meeting Meng Bai’s.
"So you are really leaving," she said softly.
"Yes," Meng Bai replied. "Master said we cannot stay."
She nodded, though her fingers clenched into her palms.
They walked a little away from the others, standing near the edge of the array.
"I will keep in contact," Meng Bai said. "Master gave me several communication jade slips that work across worlds."
"Good," Dongxu Ning replied, forcing a smile. "If you disappear, I will find you and drag you back here."
Meng Bai chuckled weakly. "I would not dare."
There was a brief silence.
Then Dongxu Ning stepped closer and punched his shoulder lightly.
"Do not die," she said. "That is an order."
Meng Bai laughed, though his eyes were slightly moist. "I will not. I have too many things left to do."
She nodded, satisfied.
Her father watched from a distance, saying nothing. He knew better than to interfere.
Lin Mu observed quietly, a faint smile on his face.
When Meng Bai returned, Lin Mu placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Ready?" he asked.
Meng Bai took a deep breath.
"Yes."
The teleportation array flared.
Runes ignited one by one, forming a net of light that wrapped around the group.
Daoist Chu stepped into position, adjusting the final control talismans.
Elyon stepped out of the shadows, watching everything carefully.
Cattaleya cracked her knuckles. "Next world better have good food."
Little Shrubby spun in a small circle, excited.
Meng Bai looked back one last time.
Dongxu Ning stood there, hands clasped, watching him.
He raised a hand in farewell.
She raised hers.
The light intensified.
Space folded.
And in the next instant, Lin Mu and his companions vanished from the Martial Fist King World, leaving behind ripples in the fabric of space and a city that would remember their names for generations.
Lin Mu and the group appeared within the empty teleportation channel, as they sped towards their next world. The mobile courtyard appeared as the group landed on it.
"We have a few months till we reach the next world." Lin Mu stated.
"I’ll make sure I don’t waste even a second of it." Meng Bai said with utter determination. "Master, Daoist Chu, Senior Cat... I’ll need your help." He requested.
"Of course." Lin Mu nodded with a smile.
"Is that something that even needs to be asked?" Daoist Chu smirked.
"Haha, by the time we reach the next world, I’ll make sure you can take a blade to the heart and still live." Cattaleya stated with full confidence.
With that, Meng Bai’s hellish training finally began.
He cultivated, sparred, learned formations and studied nonstop. He even gave up on sleep in this time. And when he felt like he absolutely needed it, a pouch of pills appeared on the table next to him.
He wondered who had placed them as he hadn’t seen anyone appear in his room.
"Take them when you feel tired. They’ll keep you going for year." A voice was heard.
Meng Bai was startled, but recognized the voice.
"Honored Saintess... Thank you." Meng Bai whispered.
He knew she rarely interfered, but she was doing this for him and he was truly grateful.
