Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 3572: The Poor Meng Bai

Chapter 3572: The Poor Meng Bai

Temple Head Puyi nodded solemnly.

"Yes."

"Since you are the disciple of Great Granduncle Master, that naturally makes you my Grand Uncle Master."

Meng Bai felt his soul leave his body. His entire worldview had collapsed. A Transcendent Immortal elder was kneeling in front of him.

Calling him Grand Uncle Master.

He looked at Lin Mu helplessly.

"Master."

"Yes?"

"...Help."

Lin Mu rubbed his temples.

"This is getting out of hand."

He waved his hand slightly.

"Stand up."

Temple Head Puyi immediately obeyed.

However, he still remained slightly bowed.

Lin Mu sighed again.

"Meng Bai is my disciple, yes. But he is not a spatial cultivator."

Temple Head Puyi blinked. He looked at Meng Bai again. This time he carefully examined the boy’s Qi.

Moments passed.

Then he nodded slowly.

"You are correct, Great Granduncle Master."

"There is no spatial Qi within him."

Meng Bai muttered weakly, "Thank heavens..."

However, the temple head still bowed slightly toward the boy.

"Even so, anyone who can become the disciple of Great Granduncle Master is worthy of this junior’s respect."

Meng Bai looked like he might faint.

Meanwhile, the twin snakes had begun making faint hissing sounds.

"Ssssss."

"Ssssss."

Meng Bai turned toward them suspiciously.

They looked innocent.

But their eyes clearly showed they were laughing.

Little Shrubby was even worse.

The crimson beast had laid down on the temple floor and was swaying his tail back and forth happily.

This entire situation was extremely entertaining for him.

Lin Mu cleared his throat.

"Temple Head Puyi."

"Yes, Great Granduncle Master."

"Please stop bowing."

The foxkin immediately straightened.

But his eyes were shining with excitement.

"If only this junior had known that Great Granduncle Master was visiting our world!"

"I would have organized a world festival to welcome you!"

He spread his arms dramatically.

"I would summon all nine kings!"

"Every royal family!"

"They would all kneel here to greet Great Granduncle Master!"

Lin Mu visibly shuddered.

"No."

"No festivals."

"Absolutely not."

He imagined nine kings kneeling in front of him while people shouted titles for hours.

Just the thought made his skin crawl.

"That would be extremely embarrassing."

"And very inconvenient."

Not to mention extremely dangerous.

If news spread that someone related to the Great Founder’s lineage had appeared here...

The entire immortal world might hear about it.

Lin Mu still had enemies.

The Dead Needle Abyss.

And several other groups that would happily target him if given the opportunity.

"I do not want my identity widely known," Lin Mu said firmly.

Temple Head Puyi immediately nodded.

"Understood."

"This junior will keep this matter secret."

However, the foxkin still could not stop himself from bowing again.

And again.

And again.

Each bow caused a faint cracking sound.

Lin Mu glanced downward.

The sacred temple floor...

...was developing small cracks.

The temple head was practically trying to dig a hole with his forehead.

Lin Mu finally grabbed the old foxkin by the shoulders.

"That is enough!"

He physically pulled him upright.

"If you bow any further we will have to repair the temple."

Temple Head Puyi looked embarrassed.

"Forgive this junior."

Meng Bai finally found his voice again.

"Master..."

"Yes?"

"...What is happening?"

Lin Mu gave him a short explanation.

"My master is a very high ranked spatial cultivator."

Meng Bai nodded slowly.

"I know that part."

Lin Mu continued.

"He is also a close friend of the person known as the Great Founder."

Meng Bai froze.

The Great Founder.

The legendary being said to have created most spatial techniques in existence. Meng Bai had read about this in one of the books that Lin Mu had given him intentionally. It was a hint for him, just to prepare him for times like this.

The problem was this person was the ancestor of nearly every spatial cultivation lineage.

Meng Bai’s mind exploded.

His legs wobbled slightly.

"Wait..."

"You mean..."

"My Grandmaster..."

"...knows that person?"

Lin Mu nodded calmly.

Meng Bai grabbed his head. His worldview had shifted again.

"Just how old is my Grandmaster...?"

Even Lin Mu had no proper answer for that.

Meanwhile, the twin snakes hissed again.

Little Shrubby continued wagging his tail.

This was, without question, the most entertaining temple visit they had ever experienced.

It took several minutes before the atmosphere inside the grand temple hall settled into something resembling calm.

Though "calm" might have been an overly generous description.

Temple Head Puyi had finally stopped attempting to carve a crater into the temple floor with his forehead, but his behavior had not returned to that of a dignified religious elder.

Instead, the old foxkin now behaved like an overexcited child who had just discovered that his long-lost grandparents had suddenly arrived for a visit.

He stood slightly hunched forward, hands clasped together with barely contained excitement, eyes shining like lanterns.

Meanwhile, the rest of the hall had descended into utter absurdity.

Meng Bai stood near the front of the room.

Completely motionless.

His eyes were open, but the soul behind them seemed to have temporarily departed. He had not spoken a word since learning about Lin Mu’s connection to the Great Founder.

The twins had noticed.

Naturally, this was irresistible.

Xiao Yin flicked her tail and gently nudged Meng Bai’s cheek.

"Sss."

No reaction.

Xiao Yang slithered up slightly and poked his shoulder.

"Ssssss."

Still nothing.

"Did we break him?" Xiao Yin asked.

"He looks broken," Xiao Yang replied.

Meanwhile, Little Shrubby had completely lost all composure.

The crimson beast was rolling on the polished temple floor while making soft mewing sounds that clearly resembled laughter.

"Mewhehehehe..."

His tail swayed wildly.

At one point he even pulled out a jade slip.

Lin Mu stared.

"...What are you doing?"

Little Shrubby happily activated the jade slip’s recording function.

"I need to save this."

"For Ashy."

Lin Mu sighed.

Of course.

Ashy would absolutely love watching Meng Bai’s current expression.

Temple Head Puyi watched this entire spectacle with a strange mix of awe and confusion.

But he did not dare interrupt.

Eventually, things settled down enough for conversation to resume.

Lin Mu cleared his throat slightly.

"Temple Head."
