Chapter 3665: Aftermath Of A Drunken Night
Meng Bai, on the other hand, had chosen a far more cautious approach. After taking only a modest amount of the weaker ale, he had wisely stopped and consumed a detoxifying pill. Now he stood near the edge of the hall, completely clear headed, watching the aftermath with a mix of awe and disbelief.
Daoist Chu remained composed as always, though he had indulged more than Meng Bai. The dwarven liquor had caught his interest, its deep warmth and heavy body appealing to his refined taste. He had paced himself well, never allowing the drink to overwhelm him.
Elyon had taken an even more measured route. He had sipped slowly, observing the entire event with quiet amusement. His calm demeanor remained unchanged, his gaze drifting across the hall as if he were studying a rare phenomenon.
Lin Mu himself stood among the few who remained unaffected.
His cultivation allowed him to process the alcohol with ease, and though he had enjoyed the variety offered, it had never truly clouded his mind. He looked around at the fallen dwarves and his companions with a faint smile, finding the entire scene oddly comforting.
Little Shrubby and the twins, however, were in a far different state.
The three beasts had somehow managed to consume several barrels of alcohol without drawing attention. At some point during the celebration, they had slipped into the background and begun drinking freely, treating the barrels as if they were nothing more than oversized bowls.
Now they lay completely still, sprawled across a corner of the hall.
Shrubby’s kitten form lay on the ground. His chest rose and fell slowly with each breath, his tongue slightly lolling out as he snored loudly. Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang were coiled beside him, their forms loosely intertwined, both utterly unconscious.
Lin Mu glanced at them and shook his head lightly.
He did not intervene.
This was one of the few places where their presence would not cause trouble, and the dwarves themselves were more than capable of handling anything that might arise. There was no reason to restrict them here.
Eventually, as the noise began to die down and the last of the conscious dwarves staggered away, the banquet came to its natural conclusion.
Lin Mu gathered his companions, helping those who needed assistance. Cattaleya required the most effort, her usual strength rendered useless by the sheer amount she had consumed. Even lifting her proved slightly challenging, though Lin Mu managed it without complaint.
They were guided to their quarters, a spacious chamber carved from dark stone and reinforced with dwarven craftsmanship. The walls held a subtle warmth, likely due to the geothermal energy flowing beneath Mantleheim, and the air carried a faint metallic scent.
One by one, they settled in.
The night passed in quiet rest.
When Lin Mu opened his eyes the next day, the lingering effects of the banquet had already faded. His body felt refreshed, his mind clear. He sat up slowly, taking a moment to gather his thoughts.
Before long, there was a knock at the entrance.
Jing Wei stepped inside, his expression calm but purposeful.
"The elders have called for you," he said.
Lin Mu nodded.
The others were still asleep, with the exception of Daoist Chu and Elyon, who had already gone out to explore the settlement. Meng Bai remained within the chamber, still resting lightly.
Without delay, Lin Mu followed Jing Wei.
They moved through the stone pathways of Mantleheim, passing towering structures and bustling dwarves who had already returned to their work despite the previous night’s excess. The rhythm of hammer striking metal echoed through the air, steady and relentless.
Their destination soon came into view.
The Ancestral Wisdom Library.
It stood as one of the largest structures in Mantleheim, its design both imposing and elegant. Massive stone pillars supported its frame, each etched with intricate dwarven runes that glowed faintly with a steady light. The entrance itself was grand, adorned with carvings that depicted scenes of forging, creation, and the legacy of the dwarven races.
"This place..." Lin Mu said quietly.
"It holds the knowledge of multiple dwarven clans and races," Jing Wei explained. "One of the few remaining libraries of its kind in the entire immortal realm."
Lin Mu’s eyes gleamed with interest.
They entered together.
The interior was vast, far larger than it appeared from the outside. Shelves upon shelves of jade slips, metal tablets, and ancient scrolls filled the space, arranged in a complex yet orderly fashion. The air carried a sense of age and depth, as if every inch of the library held countless stories and discoveries.
They were led deeper, toward the central chamber.
When Lin Mu stepped inside, he paused.
The chamber was almost entirely empty.
At its center floated a large sphere, suspended in midair. It radiated a soft, multicolored glow, shifting constantly as if alive. Streams of faint energy flowed across its surface, forming patterns that changed with each passing moment.
Lin Mu’s gaze fixed on it.
"What is that?" he asked.
The elders, who stood waiting nearby, turned toward him.
"That," one of them said, "is the core of this library."
"The Ancestral Wisdom Mind."
Lin Mu’s eyes widened slightly.
They explained that the sphere contained the collective knowledge stored within the library. Through it, information could be accessed, cross referenced, and retrieved with remarkable speed.
Hearing this, Lin Mu felt a spark of inspiration.
He immediately began considering its structure, its function, and the principles behind its creation. With the vast number of books and records he possessed, such a system would be invaluable. Even with his immortal sense, organizing and recalling everything efficiently remained a challenge.
If he could replicate something similar...
The possibilities were immense.
His thoughts were interrupted as the elders returned to the matter at hand.
"We have found information," one of them said.
Lin Mu turned his attention back to them.
"It concerns the material you brought," another elder added.
They explained that while the husk was unique, there were records of similar materials derived from certain powerful beasts. These materials shared a common trait, an abundance of spatial energy embedded within their structure.
