Chapter 3770: A Heartfelt Parting
The realization slowly sank in as shock appeared on countless faces.
A young immortal? From their village?
The possibility seemed unreal.
Then excitement followed. The hesitation that remained completely disappeared.
If Little Bull truly possessed such talent, then keeping him here would be selfish.
The village chief stood up. "Then he must go."
Several villagers immediately agreed.
"He should become an immortal."
"He should become famous."
"One day everyone will know Honey God Village."
"We’ll tell them Little Bull came from here."
The old immortal smiled.
Then he turned toward the young man himself.
The most important opinion still remained.
"Little Bull."
The young man looked up. "Mm?"
"Would you like to come with me?"
Little Bull blinked.
Then blinked again.
"What does that mean?"
The villagers laughed helplessly.
He Jian patiently explained.
"A sect is a place where people learn cultivation."
Little Bull nodded slowly.
The old man continued.
"You will become stronger."
Little Bull thought about it seriously as the entire village waited and several moments passed.
Then he asked the most important question.
"Will there be good food?"
The entire village erupted into laughter and even He Jian was caught off guard. For a few moments the old immortal could only shake his head.
"You’ll have plenty of food."
Little Bull’s eyes immediately brightened.
"Really?"
"Really."
"Lots?"
"Lots."
"Every day?"
"Every day."
The young man grinned.
Then nodded decisively.
"I’ll go."
The villagers laughed again.
Some cried too.
The decision had finally been made.
That evening the entire village held a farewell feast. The event was humble by immortal standards. There were no precious spirit fruits, no immortal wines, and no exotic delicacies. Yet the sincerity behind it surpassed many grand banquets Lin Mu had attended.
The villagers brought out their best food.
Fresh vegetables.
Roasted meats.
Honey cakes.
Honey wine.
Honey roasted nuts.
Honey glazed roots.
Almost everything contained honey in some form.
The legacy of the Golden Immortal Honey Bee remained deeply rooted within the village.
He Jian participated willingly.
The old immortal spent most of the evening answering questions about cultivation. The villagers listened with fascination. Little Bull, meanwhile, focused entirely on eating. Lin Mu actually had to restrain himself.
His true appetite would have terrified everyone present.
Little Bull already ate a great deal and Lin Mu could easily consume several times that amount.
Fortunately, no one noticed his restraint.
Instead they kept piling more food onto his plate.
"Eat more."
"You’ve suffered enough."
"Look how skinny you’ve gotten."
Lin Mu almost choked.
Skinny?
If Little Bull was considered skinny, most cultivators would probably collapse from shame.
Still, he continued the act perfectly.
The feast lasted late into the night as stories were shared and old memories were retold. Little Bull listened to them all attentively despite pretending not to remember anything.
By the end of the night, even Lin Mu found himself feeling some admiration for the young man whose identity he had taken.
’Little Bull had genuinely been loved.’ Lin Mu thought.
The next morning arrived quickly as the villagers gathered at the entrance of the settlement to see them off. Many eyes were red and several children cried openly.
Little Bull waved enthusiastically.
The scene looked far more like a family sending away a son than a village bidding farewell to a resident.
He Jian then took out a strange gourd.
The object looked ordinary at first but then immortal qi flowed through it as the gourd rapidly expanded.
One meter.
Three meters.
Five meters.
Until it reached nearly ten meters in length.
Little Bull’s jaw dropped.
"How much water can that hold?"
He Jian laughed.
"A lot."
"Can I drink it all?"
"No."
"Can it really fly?"
"Yes."
"How?"
The old man patiently answered every question.
Eventually they climbed aboard as the giant gourd rose into the sky. The villagers waved below and Little Bull waved back until they disappeared from sight. Their first destination was One River City.
The journey took little time for an immortal.
Throughout the trip, Little Bull continuously asked questions.
How did cultivators fly?
Why did immortal beasts become stronger?
How did storage treasures work?
Why could immortals live so long?
The questions never stopped and yet He Jian answered them all with surprising patience. The old man understood that Little Bull truly knew nothing.
The city eventually appeared beneath them and they landed near the teleportation complex and entered. The hall bustled with activity as cultivators moved everywhere, merchants negotiated and guards maintained order.
Little Bull looked around in amazement.
Everything fascinated him.
After paying the required fees, He Jian guided him toward the teleportation platform. "We have a long journey ahead."
"How long?" Little Bull asked.
"Nearly a year."
The young man looked stunned.
"A year!?"
He Jian nodded. "There are many worlds between here and the sect."
Little Bull scratched his head.
"That’s very far."
"It is."
The old immortal smiled.
"Which is why I’ll teach you during the journey."
Little Bull looked curious.
"Teach me what?"
"Everything."
The teleportation array began activating as brilliant light filled the platform.
The old man looked at the young man beside him.
Cultivation.
Knowledge.
History.
Etiquette.
The world itself.
Little Bull had much to learn and He Jian fully intended to teach him.
The light intensified and space twisted around them. But just before the teleportation activated, a familiar voice echoed quietly in Lin Mu’s ears.
"I am with you." It was the Saintess.
The brief words brought reassurance.
Lin Mu maintained Little Bull’s confused expression outwardly.
Yet internally, he felt a little more at ease.
The first step of infiltrating the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect had finally begun.
The moment the teleportation array activated, the surrounding space twisted into countless streams of light.
Lin Mu had experienced long distance teleportation more times than he could count. He had crossed vast regions of the Immortal Realm, traveled through spatial tunnels that connected worlds, and even ventured through far more dangerous spatial phenomena.
Under normal circumstances, entering a teleportation channel barely registered in his mind anymore.
Unfortunately, Little Bull had never experienced anything remotely similar. Thus, the moment the spatial tunnel stabilized around them, Lin Mu immediately widened his eyes and stumbled backward.
