Chapter 3785: Instant Break

Chapter 3785: Instant Break

Five minutes later, Little Bull’s turn arrived as the Junior Elder waved him forward.

"Your turn."

Little Bull nodded and stepped onto the platform while several disciples looked over. The recruit with the strange physique had already attracted attention. Even some elders shifted their gaze toward the formation screen displaying his test.

Little Bull placed his hand upon the plate as the formation activated and Runes lit up. Qi began flowing through the array and a moment later the energy entered his body.

Then everyone waited.

One second.

Two seconds.

Three seconds.

Nothing happened.

The formation remained completely dark while several staff members frowned. The array continued operating but still nothing happened. The Qi entered Little Bull’s body and vanished without producing even the faintest reaction.

It was as if the formation had connected to empty air.

Five more seconds passed but there was still no light. The Junior Elder’s brows slowly rose while the staff members exchanged confused glances.

"No reaction?" one muttered.

"Impossible."

The formation master checked the controls but everything was functioning normally.

Little Bull tilted his head. "Did it work?"

No one answered immediately. The formation array finally shut down on its own and the result remained unchanged.

Zero.

Absolutely zero.

Even the observation areas became quiet and many elders frowned. A complete lack of Qi compatibility was incredibly rare. Far rarer than average talent. Several possibilities immediately came to mind.

Crippled meridians, damaged spiritual roots, and innate defects. Yet none of those explanations matched what they had already seen from Little Bull.

The young man’s physique was absurd and his body was monstrously durable. Nothing about him suggested weakness.

The two Administrative Division disciples immediately seized the opportunity.

"Hah."

One laughed quietly. "I knew it."

The second smirked. "All that toughness and zero cultivation talent."

"Just thick skin after all."

"Looks like Elder He Jian really found another village bumpkin."

Lin Mu remained expressionless as he had expected this result. After all, the Abyssal Horizon Veil Seal was functioning exactly as intended. Every trace of Qi entering his body was immediately redirected into the hidden spatial pocket.

The formation couldn’t detect absorption because it never interacted with his actual cultivation system. To the array, Little Bull appeared completely incompatible with Qi. The Junior Elder, however, did not look disappointed.

Instead he appeared thoughtful. His gaze lingered on Little Bull for several moments, then realization flashed through his eyes.

"The physique."

One of the staff looked over.

"What about it?"

The Junior Elder nodded slowly.

"If his physique is truly that extraordinary, ordinary Qi compatibility tests might not apply."

The formation masters exchanged glances before the elder quickly issued several instructions. "Activate the secondary assessment formation."

The staff immediately moved and a different set of runes lit up beneath the platform. The entire formation shifted as the white glow disappeared and in its place appeared a crimson hue.

Little Bull watched curiously. "Different rock?"

Several disciples nearly laughed while the Junior Elder patiently explained. "This one measures vitality."

"I see." Little Bull nodded.

The elder continued. "It is mainly used for body cultivators."

Now even more elders turned their attention toward the screen. Body cultivation assessments appeared far less frequently than Qi assessments.

A minute later, the formation finished recalibrating and the crimson runes brightened.

The Junior Elder gestured. "Place your hand down again."

Little Bull obeyed as his palm touched the platform and the formation activated. For a brief moment nothing happened. Then a tiny spark of red light appeared. The staff relaxed slightly.

At least there was a response.

Then the spark brightened.

And brightened again.

And again.

Within a single breath, the entire platform began glowing.

The light intensified rapidly as the staff and observers froze. The crimson radiance expanded outward like an erupting volcano. The formation array began humming violently as several runes lit up simultaneously.

Then every rune illuminated at once and the chamber was instantly flooded with red light. A second later the brightness multiplied again and the room disappeared beneath a sea of crimson brilliance.

It looked as if a miniature sun had been born inside the assessment chamber.

"Agh!"

Several disciples immediately covered their eyes while the staff stumbled backward. Even the formation masters squinted painfully. Above them, every formation screen displaying the assessment turned completely red.

The observation galleries erupted into chaos.

"What happened?"

"I can’t see anything!"

"Is the formation malfunctioning?"

"What kind of vitality is this?"

Many elders immediately stood up. The brightness continued increasing and the formation array trembled. Several runes actually began cracking.

Seeing that, one of the formation masters panicked. "Lift your hand!"

Another shouted. "You’re blinding everyone!"

A third elder yelled from above. "Enough! Stop the test!"

Little Bull quickly withdrew his hand and the light disappeared instantly. Silence followed as everyone blinked repeatedly while their vision recovered. Several disciples still saw red spots floating before their eyes.

The formation platform emitted a final sputtering sound.

Crack!

A fracture appeared across its surface, then another and another. The entire array stopped functioning.

Little Bull stared at it, then looked at the Junior Elder. "Did I break it?"

The Junior Elder did not laugh. His expression had become unusually serious. In fact, he looked slightly pale. The elder slowly walked forward and inspected the damaged formation. Several formation masters were already examining it.

The verdict came quickly.

"Overloaded."

"The core runes burned out."

"The measurement limit was exceeded."

The hall grew even quieter and the Junior Elder turned toward Little Bull. The young man still appeared confused.

"Break it?" the elder repeated.

Then a strange smile appeared on his face. "You certainly did."

Little Bull scratched his head. "Sorry."

The Junior Elder shook his head. "No."

His gaze swept across the shattered formation. Then toward the stunned observers watching from above. Finally, he looked directly at Little Bull.

"You didn’t just break the formation." The elder took a deep breath. "You broke a record."

The words echoed throughout the chamber.

And for the first time since arriving at the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect, every person present looked at Little Bull with genuine shock.
