Chapter 3851: An Impromptu Hunt

Chapter 3851: An Impromptu Hunt

The three stopped and the two senior disciples looked toward the trees where the sound had come from. Then they looked at each other as slow smiles appeared on their faces.

The first disciple turned toward Little Bull. "Junior Brother."

Little Bull looked at him. "Do you want fresh grilled boar instead?"

Little Bull’s eyes brightened. "Fresh?"

The second disciple cracked his knuckles. "Very fresh."

The moment the squealing sound echoed through the forest again, the two senior disciples moved without hesitation. They kicked off the ground and shot between the trees, leaving small craters where their feet had been planted.

Little Bull followed right behind them, jumping over exposed roots and shattered trunks while pretending to put some effort into keeping pace. In truth, Lin Mu could have easily overtaken both men using his raw physical strength alone, though there was little reason to do so.

He had already surprised them enough during training, and showing even more would simply give them another reason to stare at him.

The squealing grew louder as they traveled, and the sounds of heavy impacts soon joined it. Trees shook in the distance while leaves rained down from the canopy. A deep grunt was heard, followed by the cracking of wood and another furious squeal.

"Close!" the first disciple said excitedly.

"Sounds big too!" the second disciple added.

Little Bull looked at the two men. "You can tell how big it is from the sound?"

"Of course," the first disciple replied confidently.

The second disciple nodded. "We’ve eaten enough beasts to know."

Lin Mu was unsure whether that counted as proper beast tracking experience, though considering the Wild Peak, he decided it probably did.

The three continued forward for another minute before bursting through a thick wall of vegetation. The moment they emerged on the other side, Little Bull finally saw the source of the commotion.

Two massive boars were fighting in a wide patch of churned earth.

Each beast was nearly three meters long and stood about a meter tall at the shoulder. Their bodies were covered in thick brown fur that looked almost like layers of coarse needles, while powerful muscles shifted beneath their hides whenever they moved.

The most eye-catching parts of their bodies were the large tusks protruding from their mouths. Each tusk was nearly half a meter long and curved upward, with a strange dark green energy coating their surfaces.

One of the boars charged while its opponent lowered its head.

BOOM!

Their tusks collided and a wave of force spread through the surrounding area, throwing dirt and broken roots into the air. The two beasts pushed against each other while letting out furious grunts. Their hooves dug trenches into the earth, and the dark green energy surrounding their tusks flickered violently.

The first disciple’s eyes brightened. "Nice! We got Root Turner Boars!"

"Two at that too!" the second disciple said happily.

Little Bull stared at the fighting beasts. "Do they taste good?"

The two disciples turned toward him and they laughed.

"Junior Brother, you’re asking the important questions already!" the first disciple said.

The second disciple slapped Little Bull on the shoulder. "Root Turner Boars are probably among the best tasting boars around here."

"Really?"

"Of course," the first disciple replied. "These beasts almost exclusively eat roots."

Little Bull looked at the boars. "Roots taste good?"

"Depends on the roots," the second disciple explained. "Root Turner Boars search for the roots of immortal trees and spirit plants. They dig through the ground with their tusks and eat the most nutrient rich parts."

The first disciple pointed at the dark green energy surrounding the boars’ tusks. "That’s where their name comes from. Their tusks are excellent at breaking through earth and wood. They’ll even dig several hundred meters underground if they smell a good root."

"Because they spend their entire lives eating nutrient rich roots, their flesh naturally accumulates vitality and Immortal Qi," the second disciple continued. "It’s very good for body cultivators."

Little Bull nodded seriously. "So they’re tasty and healthy."

"Exactly."

"Good beasts."

The two disciples laughed again.

"Wait here, Junior Brother," the first disciple said. "We’ll handle them."

Little Bull nodded and looked ahead. The two Root Turner Boars were still locked in their battle for dominance. Neither beast had noticed the three humans standing nearby, as they were far too focused on each other.

One boar suddenly pulled back while the second boar squealed triumphantly and charged. That was when the two Wild Peak disciples moved. The poor boars never got the chance to understand what had happened.

The first disciple appeared beside the charging boar and his fist moved.

BANG!

The punch struck the beast directly on the side of its head.

CRACK

A horrifying cracking sound echoed through the forest.

The boar’s skull visibly shifted under the force of the impact. Blood spurted from its nostrils while its eyes rolled upward. Its massive body continued moving forward from its momentum before crashing into the ground and sliding several meters.

At almost the exact same moment, the second disciple appeared above the other boar. He dropped from the air and his fist slammed into the top of the beast’s skull.

CRACK!

The Root Turner Boar’s legs collapsed instantly and its entire body struck the ground with a heavy thud. Silence returned to the forest and Little Bull looked at the two dead beasts.

"Fast."

The first disciple rubbed his fist. "We’re hungry."

The second disciple nodded. "Hunger makes you efficient."

Lin Mu examined the two beasts more carefully.

’Peak First Tribulation Stage of the Immortal Realm,’ he estimated.

Their vitality and the residual Immortal Qi within their bodies made their cultivation levels rather obvious to him.

For normal immortals, the Root Turner Boars would have been troublesome opponents. Their thick skulls and powerful bodies gave them excellent defenses, while the strange energy coating their tusks could easily tear through most protective barriers.

Against two Third Tribulation Stage Immortal realm body cultivators, they had never stood a chance.
