Chapter 3886: A Forbidden Relic
Lin Mu’s gaze slowly narrowed.
’Justice Crushing Cestus...’ He silently repeated the name once more.
His thoughts instinctively drifted toward another place, the hidden vault, the treasury that once belonged to the Virtuous Calamity Daoist. Lin Mu had searched for clues surrounding that vault for a long time.
Everything connected to the ancient expert attracted his attention.
Now... A forbidden relic bearing such a peculiar name had suddenly appeared before him. His instincts immediately connected the two. ’Could it have originally belonged inside the Virtuous Calamity Daoist’s vault?’
The possibility seemed increasingly reasonable as the title alone carried enough implication.
Justice Crushing Cestus.
Lin Mu quietly interpreted the meaning.
’A weapon meant to crush justice.’ He slowly nodded within his heart. ’Certainly something from the unorthodox path.’
The Virtuous Calamity Daoist had earned his title through uncompromising righteousness. History recorded countless campaigns against demonic sects, unorthodox organizations, blood cultivators, soul refiners, and Devil Path experts.
His enemies had numbered in the millions and many of them possessed terrifying inheritances.
Naturally... Such experts would also possess extraordinary treasures.
Lin Mu found it difficult to imagine the Virtuous Calamity Daoist simply destroying every artifact he confiscated. Several objects would undoubtedly possess immense research value.
Others could reveal forgotten cultivation techniques. Some might simply prove too dangerous to leave in circulation. Locking them away inside a secure vault sounded entirely reasonable.
His eyes returned toward the projection. ’This weapon certainly fits that description.’
Even its name carried open defiance toward righteous cultivators. Lin Mu found himself genuinely interested. In fact, he almost laughed inwardly.
’Getting imprisoned was worth it.’ He could hardly have expected such an outcome.
He entered the treasury searching for clues. Instead, the clues had practically walked toward him.
’Finally...’ A faint smile appeared within his heart. ’...a proper clue.’
His attention soon returned toward the conversation. Taegong and the mysterious woman continued discussing their plans without realizing a silent observer watched everything from above.
Lin Mu quietly retrieved a jade slip from his storage. His movements remained incredibly careful as even the slightest fluctuation of vitality could expose him. Fortunately, years of experience made such tasks almost effortless.
He activated a recording formation and the jade slip silently began capturing everything; every word, every expression, every movement and even the formation screen. The entire conversation became preserved.
Lin Mu made certain the recording angle captured both Taegong and the communication projection simultaneously. Evidence held its greatest value when every participant remained visible.
His eyes briefly glanced toward the recording. ’Excellent.’
Nothing had been missed.
Lin Mu quietly continued watching.
’This...’ He almost pitied Taegong. ’Is enough to bury several people.’
The recording already established a conspiracy. But then there was also abuse of authority, framing an innocent disciple, manipulating treasury records, planning false criminal charges and many more charges.
Every additional sentence only strengthened the evidence.
Lin Mu could almost imagine the reaction.
If he somehow handed this jade slip directly to Peak Head Mountain Roar or High Elder Shatter Peak... The entire Wild Peak would probably erupt.
Forget merely arresting Taegong.
Lin Mu was fairly certain the elders would personally drag him outside before demanding an explanation. They might just snatch Taegong’s spine to see just where he got spine to act like this beneath their noses.
High Elder Shatter Peak alone looked ready to tear Taegong apart earlier. This recording would only add fuel to that anger.
Lin Mu quietly smiled.
Unfortunately... The evidence carried one rather inconvenient problem.
’How exactly would Little Bull obtain this?’ He could hardly explain that.
Little Bull officially remained locked inside a prison cell. Producing a complete recording from Taegong’s private office would immediately raise uncomfortable questions. Even if the Wild Peak trusted him, they would inevitably ask how he escaped.
They’d ask how he entered the office and how he remained hidden. Eventually, someone would begin questioning Little Bull’s abilities. That would create more complications than necessary.
’It cannot appear yet.’ At least not through Little Bull.
Lin Mu would eventually find another method.
Perhaps anonymously, or perhaps through another identity. He possessed enough options so there was no need to rush. More importantly the conspiracy itself appeared larger than he initially believed.
If the Virtuous Calamity Daoist’s forgotten vault truly connected to all this, then exposing Taegong immediately could destroy valuable leads. Lin Mu preferred patience and he had waited years already.
Waiting a little longer meant little.
His jade slip continued faithfully recording.
Meanwhile, Taegong resumed discussing details with the mysterious woman. "The transfer should happen quickly."
The woman slowly nodded. "The longer he remains within the Wild Peak the greater the chance something changes."
Taegong agreed. "I’ll ensure the paperwork proceeds immediately."
The woman remained thoughtful. "Our greater difficulty lies elsewhere."
She slowly looked toward him. "Peak Head Mountain Roar."
Taegong quietly folded his arms and the woman continued speaking. "Ordering an ordinary Peak Head would already require careful planning. But Mountain Roar is different."
Lin Mu silently agreed.
The woman spoke without exaggeration. "He’s a Transcendent Immortal. Even the Patriarch shows him appropriate respect."
She paused. "And his cultivation alone isn’t the reason."
Lin Mu remembered the countless stories he had heard. Peak Head Mountain Roar’s reputation extended far beyond the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect.
The old giant had participated in major wars, led countless campaigns, protected entire regions and rescued innumerable cultivators. His achievements filled several historical records.
The woman calmly continued.
"The number of military accomplishments he possesses would probably form a hill by themselves. He has received honors from multiple Immortal Courts, numerous organizations owe him favors and many powerful experts remain indebted to him."
She quietly sighed. "A single request from him could influence countless people. And if he refuses something... The sect itself must carefully consider how strongly to insist."
Taegong remained silent while the woman looked directly toward him.
"I’ll require time and I need to think. Occupying someone like Mountain Roar won’t be simple."
Taegong slowly smiled. "I have a suggestion."
The woman appeared mildly interested. "I’m listening."
Taegong leaned forward. "A new upstart has appeared within the Immortal Realm."
