Chapter 3998: Assault On All Senses And Reality

Chapter 3998: Assault On All Senses And Reality

The collision continued.

For the first few seconds, the disciples were simply stunned by the spectacle before them. The enormous Bone Ruler remained locked against Lin Mu’s fist, and the space between the two cultivators had become a region of pure destruction. Light poured from the point of impact while violent shockwaves spread outward in every direction.

Then another wave struck.

BOOM!

The disciples’ protective formations trembled and several barriers shattered immediately. Before the elders could replace them, another shockwave arrived.

BOOM!

A second layer of protection broke apart, before the third and the fourth!

The disciples began realizing that this battle was going to last longer than they had expected.

A few seconds had already felt like an eternity as every wave of force assaulted their bodies. The sound alone was enough to make their ears ring violently, and some disciples soon felt warmth flowing from them as their eardrums struggled against the <anno data-annotation-id="d69362c5-12bf-1b15-2778-0dea9a1aae0e" data-title="pressure.">pressure.1</anno>

The impact against their bodies traveled through their robes and reached their skin, then their muscles, then their bones. Even with the elders constantly reinforcing the defensive formations around them, the vibrations were impossible to completely eliminate.

Their eyes suffered from the brilliant light produced by the collision. Every time they tried to look toward the center of the battle, their vision was flooded by white radiance. Soon their noses filled with the smell of dust and blood.

Even their mouths tasted the same mixture as tiny particles of stone and blood circulated through the turbulent air. Some disciples could barely stand and others had already sat down, desperately circulating their cultivation techniques to stabilize their bodies.

A few were beginning to wonder whether watching this battle was worth the price.

One disciple gritted his teeth as another shockwave passed through him. "How long has it been?"

His senior brother, who was struggling to maintain his defensive barrier, gave him a glance. "Several seconds."

"Several seconds?" The disciple’s expression twisted. "It feels like several years."

His senior brother had no response, because he felt exactly the same. For cultivators who could live for thousands of years, a few seconds were usually insignificant. But at that moment, every single one of those seconds had become something they would remember for years.

And the battle had only just begun.

The elders were no different than the disciples and were suffering as well. They had far stronger cultivation and could construct defensive barriers far more quickly, yet even their abilities had limits.

One High Elder raised both hands and formed a translucent barrier.

WHOOM!

The barrier appeared just before a shockwave struck.

CRACK!

It shattered!

Before the fragments of energy could disperse, the elder immediately created another.

CRACK!

That one lasted even less time.

"Use layered formations!" another elder shouted.

Several formation masters immediately began activating talismans. Dozens of talismans flew into the air and transformed into defensive formations. For a brief moment, the surrounding region became covered in overlapping barriers.

HONG!

Then the spatial fabric itself trembled and the formations flickered. In the next moment, their runes became unstable.

"What happened?"

"The space is too turbulent!"

One formation master stared at the talisman in his hand in disbelief. "The formation itself is destabilizing."

Another elder tried to stabilize the array using his Formation Dao Embryo. A stick, slightly thicker than a chopstick, appeared in a cylindrical Dao Embryo.

"Failure Warding Fortune Stick Formation Dao Embryo!" The man chanted and used its power.

HUALA

For a moment it seemed to make contact, but then the connection was suddenly severed!

RIP

"It cannot lock onto the spatial coordinates!" The Formation master said, while wiping a trickle of blood from his nose. It was clear the backlash had been strong enough to give him internal injuries.

Soon the formation collapsed and the elder’s expression became grim. He realized this was something far more troublesome than raw destructive power. The collision between Lin Mu and Daoist Bone Ruler was creating such tremendous energy fluctuations that even the surrounding space had begun to suffer damage.

At the very center of the collision, something appeared: A tiny black point.

It was so small that even the strongest High Elders could barely notice it. Two thin cracks extended from either side of that black point. The cracks were almost invisible, but they were fractures in space itself.

Only Lin Mu and Daoist Bone Ruler could perceive them clearly.

Lin Mu’s eyes flicked toward the strange spatial wound and his expression became slightly more serious.

’Already cracking.’ He had expected something like this.

The force generated by their collision had exceeded what the surrounding spatial fabric could comfortably contain. The Bone Ruler carried the full strength of a Transcendent Immortal combined with the power of a Peak Immortal Weapon.

Lin Mu’s fist carried his terrifying physical strength, supported by his physique and condensed Immortal Essence. The two forces had reached a temporary equilibrium, yet the space surrounding them had become the unfortunate victim.

The tiny black point widened by the slightest amount and Lin Mu immediately adjusted his force. Daoist Bone Ruler noticed the spatial fracture as well and his expression became solemn. Neither man wanted the spatial crack to expand uncontrollably.

If it grew large enough, the consequences could become unpredictable.

They continued pushing against one another as second after second passed.

Ten seconds.

Twenty.

Thirty.

The disciples had long since lost any sense of time as the sound of the collision became a constant roar and their bodies shook continuously. The elders replaced barriers again and again but some disciples had blood flowing from their ears.

Several had already closed their eyes and were relying on their Immortal Senses, only to find even those senses repeatedly disrupted. The battle had become an endurance test for everyone watching.

Then forty seconds passed and the light at the center of the collision began fluctuating. Daoist Bone Ruler’s expression changed and Lin Mu noticed immediately.

’He’s wavering.’ The balance was shifting.

The two men had maintained their clash for almost a minute, and the enormous amount of energy contained within their attacks was finally beginning to dissipate. The Bone Ruler’s radiance weakened and the Immortal Essence around Lin Mu’s fist began to scatter.

Then the two forces finally collapsed.

BOOOOOOM!
