Chapter 4903: Prepares

Chapter 4903: Prepares

“Just pick me a quieter room,” Feng Jiu said, then asked, “Waiter, I heard there’s a place called Yunxiao Mountain not far from this city?”

“Yes, it’s a place known far and wide. But you see, it’s quite mysterious—because it belongs to the Azure Emperor.”

The waiter chuckled as he poured Feng Jiu some tea, then continued, “The Azure Emperor is a carefree sovereign who pays no heed to worldly affairs. Though Yunxiao Mountain is said to be near the city, no one knows its exact location. Many who sought to visit it never found their way there.”

“Oh? Is that so?” Feng Jiu exclaimed in surprise.

“But there are those who know—only the powerful immortals or great lords who are close to the Azure Emperor. Ordinary folk simply cannot find Mount Yunxiao.” The waiter spoke while accepting a tray of peanuts and pastries from another attendant. “Guests, these are complimentary from the house. Please try them first. Should you require anything else, just call me. I’ll go upstairs now to check the room status for you.”

With that, he bowed and withdrew.

Feng Jiu silently nodded in approval. The inn’s attendants were clearly well-trained, excelling in both hospitality and etiquette. Moreover, the guests here were unmistakably cultivators clad in brocades and jade robes. Though curious about her, they didn’t stare excessively. They merely stole a glance or two before withdrawing their gaze, showing no disrespect.

She sat in the inn for a while, drank two cups of tea, and ate a pastry before following the attendant downstairs to view the rooms. He had selected the innermost room for her, quieter and more secluded. Opening the rear window revealed distant scenery and street views. The room’s layout was tasteful—indeed, a rather fine inn.

After inspecting the room, she left the inn and wandered through the city. She bought some pastries and other snacks, and at a tailor shop in town, she purchased some necessities and clothing for each of the three children.

She thought to herself that since she was passing through here and so close to the children, she ought to visit them at least once. After all, since her ascension, she hadn’t deliberately sought news of them.

With the intention of visiting them, she bought items the children would enjoy and find useful. For their master, the Azure Emperor, she prepared two jars of her own brewed spirit wine as a gift. After dining outside, she headed back to the inn.

On the first floor of the inn, the proprietor, who had been waiting by the entrance, spotted the figure in crimson approaching. He hurried inside and approached a table, bowing respectfully. “Young Master,” he said, “the lady in red has returned.”

The white-robed man sipping tea paused, setting down his cup. He spoke softly to an elderly man beside him, “Uncle Yuan, go see if it’s her.”

The old man hurried to the doorway. His gaze naturally fell upon the stunningly beautiful woman in red. After just one glance, he swiftly withdrew his eyes, returning to the white-robed man’s side. He whispered, “Young Master, it’s her. No mistake.”

Hearing this, the white-clad man let out a faint smile. He stood up, stepped around the table, and waited by the door.

As Feng Jiu approached from afar, she saw two figures darting in and out of the inn entrance. She recognized the innkeeper, but the other elder was unfamiliar. As she drew nearer, she saw the elder she had glimpsed earlier standing beside a white-clad man.

She gave them a fleeting glance before striding past them, heading straight for the private rooms upstairs.
